OK, it looks like I'm going to re-up with Alltel now, then bite the bullet when Verizon gets to Charlottesville and buy the phone I really want at full retail price. The Samsung Renown is what I really want, but it can only be activated on Verizon, not Alltel. What does Alltel have right now (and I already know none of the regular phones have CDMA/GSM capability, just a Blackberry and maybe one other) that has superior sound quality and full duplex? Any of the Samsungs? Are they any good?

Give me some info, folks. I've got a V3m that gets a little less reliable every day.

How do I find one of those? (I used to be sngwrtr525, but for some reason, I haven't been able to sign it that way for a while, so I changed my identity. I'm the same guy, though.)

Hey, family guy, I did what you said, and my Renown is working like a champ! Still have my Alltel plan in effect, and if I have to change over to the Verizon side, I'll do that after June 1st. Right now, the phone is working just fine for voice communications, which is all I need. Thanks for the information.
