The Voyager does learn words. It comes in pretty handy when you only have one hand free to type.

Re: Battery Life Question
Nov 30, 2007, 6:41 PM
in the LG Voyager VX-10000 forum

I use my phone about the same amount and as of now, with the standard battery, I'm charging about every two days. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. If you turn into a heavy user, you might be charging your phone every day, which I personally am not opposed to since I'm never that far from a wall outlet. Plus an extended battery adds bulk, something I really don't want.

Well, then I guess there are a lot of satisfied sixteen year old girls on this forum (myself included, apparently).

You will need a 2.5mm to 3.5mm headset adapter if you want to use standard iPod headphones.

I ended up going to another store, which the employees there agreed with us... that guy at the other store was pretty sketch. I do intend on reporting him, it was totally uncalled for and added a lot of hassle to my morning. The good news is that I did end up getting a phone and it works great!

I was flat out denied a phone. I was second in line at my store, but the manager said that I would have to "wait until Monday when the phone is released to customers willing to pay full retail." What a bunch of crap! It's like he made that policy up on a whim. What a way to repay loyal customers... they're giving me more reasons to not extend a contract with them!

Data Plan Confusion

Everyone should take a look at this video about Verizon reps and their knowledge of their company's rates: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdKw RdWocco Bottom line: We'll know for sure what plan(s) the Voyager requires when we're in the store, phone in hand, ready to add the service.

Verizon thinks so. Is it really an iPhone in comparison to the real thing? I don't think so. It's got more features, but what the iPhone does, it does well.

Re: LG VOYAGER or LG VENUS
Nov 16, 2007, 11:25 AM

If you really want something smaller, you would probably want the Venus. Personally, I like both, so if for some reason I wasn't able to purchase the Voyager I would definitely get the Venus.

It's not as practical as you may think. The room has to be very quiet and you have to speak very clearly. If you tried speech-to-text in the car, it would come out as gibberish.

No, I don't think so. That's a feature of Samsung phones though. My A990 will do speech-to-text, but it won't learn words :?

If you ordered one today, you preordered, so of course you had to switch. Verizon's site states that you have to switch for a preorder, it doesn't say that you have to switch for any order.

I'm excited because it means I won't have to use my current phone anymore. Verizon has refused to make any firmware updates since I purchased the phone, so I've been left with this buggy mess of an operating system. I'm not expecting an iPhone experience, but any experience has to be better than what I have now.

Re: Pre-ordering in Store
Nov 14, 2007, 6:11 PM

I asked two of my local stores about an in-store pre-order. The first said no, and that was the end of it. The second said they couldn't, but would take down my phone number and call me when the phones are in the store.

the old one you were charged for any data you downloaded from v-cast by the minute and now you are charged by the MB Yes, and that difference would mean a higher bill for my family plan. We rarely use more than half of our anytime minutes, which means we can use the rest for data. Under a new plan those minutes will go to waste and we will have to pay more for data. They do think we're stupid, but for a different reason. This is what a CSR told me on chat: Yolawnda: Okay, this is what must happen. Leave the order process, then go in a change your plan. Yolawnda: You need to upgrade to the Nation wide plan . Yolawnda: It is just a new name. ...there are more differences than just a "new name." And if it was as simple as a name change, why wouldn't they do that automatically? If it doesn't ...

I've already spent way too much time on this. I'm on the waiting list at my nearest store, so I should be able to get one on the 21st. The whole changing plans thing doesn't sit right with me. Why should I be forced to switch plans when there IS a difference? I don't want to give up my current Mobile Web plan and be forced into paying more for Vcast. I can't imagine why they would allow me ...

Nov 9, 2007, 1:15 PM

At this point Verizon will not let me do anything (plan related or otherwise). I just finished my second phone call, this time the CSR told me that there will be no more pre-orders until the 19th... which in that case I might as well be the first in line at my nearest store. So what's the deal? Why are they still advertising a pre-order on their front page that no longer exists? How could they hype the phone ...

The more I think about it Verizon makes more sense to have in my area, though I'm still repulsed by their user interface and the fact that they're data nazis. I hate being nickeled and dimed.

Extra Features
Oct 5, 2006, 9:50 PM
in the Samsung SCH-A990 forum

I'm considering making the switch from cingular to verizon. This is the only phone that really catches my eye in terms of features. Verizon does not mention many of the features stated in the phonescoop specifications including the business card reader, voice regonition, and speech-to-text dictation. Can any A990 owners tell me for a fact if verizon's version of this phone does indeed include these features?

I was wondering the same thing. I've heard of Verizon customers complaining about the "network busy" messages in my area. I occasionally get that message on my Cingular phone on Friday nights, but no problems otherwise.

They do use Java. I haven't the slightest idea why Nokia would include BREW on "some" models and java on other models, unless they are hoping for Verizon to carry this model as well.

I expect one of two cases to happen. Either the US version will come without a front facing camera or we won't see this model for a while until Cingular launches video calling (if they do).

Some people are satisfied with simply making phone calls, which doesn't make this phones lack of camera all that surprising. It looks small and somewhat stylish, however, it is surprising that it doesn't include a little more memory or a speakerphone... not essential, just nice to have.

Yeah I eventually figured that out. When you compare them side to side you can see a huge difference. I really like the C300 for it's size, and the features Pantech managed to cram into it. It'll be a steal if this turns out to be a free phone!
