if i wait and get the phone in the store (whenever the store gets them in!!!) do i have to change to nationwide plan? ๐
...
When you activate the Voyager, YES you will have to change to the Nationwide Plan. The reason that this phone and not others has to change is because of the enhanced web/html capabilities. Verizon going away from minutes of use for stuff like web and get it now and going to per MB usage. Your best bet to make sure you don't get hit hard in the wallet for MB usage is to get VCast when you activate it.
...
what if I want to take the chance of getting hit in the wallet for mb usage? I don't ever use mobile web, vcast etc. ๐คจ

Then take the chance. Why would you even have to ask that question?
...
The nationwide plans allow users to use their services in areas that weren't capable before. Also, usage was based on minutes of use before where it is based on Mb usage now if you go to a Nationwide plan.

what about the venus? do you have to change with it? ๐ก

I still don't understand the nationwide plan, I have Americas choice family plan with unlimited text and pix and I thought everything was nation wide? Have looked at the plans on web site but i didn't make sense to me.
Any suggestions, because I want the Voyager, I have env now but I don't want to change plan.
Thanks

It's Nationwide with a capital "N". It's the new name for America's Choice. You will have to change plans pre-order, postorder, any order for the Voyager.
...
However that is assuming you plan on using a NE2 discount, correct? If I've got this right, I am not required to switch plans because I plan on paying full retail (?)
...
That is correct, sir!
...
Whew, that's a relief. Thank you!
...
Not even with NE2 you don't have to switch, you just have to add the vpak.
...
I agree! I am in the same boat that you are! I don't want to change plans--I've got a good deal now with my corporate discount on the family share plan! Guess that is why vzw wants us to change--more $$ for them!!!! ๐
...
Well if you don't pre-order and just get it in the store on the 21st, you won't have to change plans at all!
Best of both worlds really.....
...
Finally some one who gets it.
...
Don't have to but you will have to add vpak.

It is amazing to me how many people still ask this question when upgrading to the Voyager. The difference in America's Choice Price Plan and Nationwide is that where Verizon charged for MINUTES OF USE for things like Mobile Web / browsing and downloading games, ringtones, etc is that now there will be charges for megabyte usage. All of that stuff that I mentioned above sent kilobytes that Verizon did not calculate. So instead of charging you MINUTES OF USE, you will be charged $1.99/mb. SOOOO, if you get the Voyager, for the 56th time, you HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE go to the Nationwide plan. It does not matter if you pre-order it, get it from the store, buy it from Jimmy behind the 7/11. If you want that ESN on your account, your price plan must ...

well well well-- aren't you just a wealth of information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ๐
and fyi---CS said I don't have to change plans if I don't want to!!!! nanananana!!! ๐คฃ

I work for Customer Service. I hope that goes well for you. ๐

Well I don't give a **** about the browser or v-cast, I switched to nationwide because of sending and receiving pics and videos. I have been using up minutes like crazy and didn't know that I was getting charged a minute for each one. Sent and received 480 pics and vids last month most of which were from pc or from websites like 3 guppies, and with the nation wide I wont be charged minutes,so VZW said so.
Thanks all who responded to me, as I didn't know about nation wide vs Americas Choice.
Bottom line, I want the Voyager for texting, videos, pics and some email.
...
Well i would keep quiet about that, because no one ever accused customer service of knowing what was going on, it's usually the opposite, I don't know how many times I've called CS and had to instruct them on what needed to happen, and what do you know I was right and CS was wrong, so that's not a confidence builder in the least.
...
YOu are wrong sir, if you already have to premium or the vpak you don't have to change your plans, I work for a VZW store our training said you don't have to switch, so I am not sure where you get your info, but it is not correct.
...
You do have to change your plan if you are pre-ordering this phone online. If you wait a week and pick it up in stores you will not have to change a thing!
So basically I am advocating just to wait!
...
I am not sure who told you that you had to change , but the answer is no and if you have a vpak or premium plan it won't matter what plan your on anywhoo. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CHANGE TO THE NATIONWIDE PLAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
