Hot off the Presses, the Pre-order Solution

It's official, it says on the Verizon Website front page:

"To pre-order the Voyager: Change to a Nationwide calling plan, then wait for a confirmation email before ordering."

So change to a Nationwide plan first.

Worked for me, too. That's it. CSR told me they were going to temporarily stop making Voyager available for pre-order for America Choice plan holders. I changed to National, which is actually a better deal, at least for me.

Do it from my account, or call customer service. Then wait about an hour, and then you can pre-order.

Temporarily stop? So if I have a AC2 plan I will be able to preorder before the time is up at some point? Because I'm hearing you can't preorder at all without changing plans.

That's right. You have to change your plan to the National Plan from your current America's Choice Plan. I was able to do this about an hour ago and got my preorder in. The rates are exactly the same and when you go to change your rate, it gives you a breakdown comparison of what you currently have to what your upgrading to. Once I did that, I was able to place my order with no problem and got my confirmation number.

Now my next question is, when am I going to get this phone? Haha...looks like sometime after the 21st huh?

i dont see anywhere on vzw.com where you can change to that plan, the only plans i see are the ones that are $20.00 more a month with vznav.,email, etc... ?...

They haven't for me either...I assume that it has to process first before it is charged. Keep an eye on your order using your order number to look it up.

I will stick with my current plan and then get the TV Select plan for $25...cheaper that way. Hopefully they do not make you change your plan to own this phone, if they do I will switch carriers seeing how my contract has been up for a long time now.

Your not making any sense, The prices are exactly the same, so how is it cheaper that way, it's exactly the same but instead you are charged for data usage per MB instead of minutes and if you are already getting the TV plan then what gives absolutely no difference whatsoever, get a life!

Correct changing to the new nationwide plans shouldn't effect anyone's pocket, since they are exactly the same price.

I'll tell you why it makes since...I pay $70 a month plus 9.99 for the second line for 1000 minutes not 750, I also get 1000 bonus minutes in case I ever go over my minutes and 15% off. I have a very old plan that I like. I also get 500 txt/20pix and flix with mobile web for 9.99 (they don't have that deal anymore either). Now If I get the Tv Select for $25 I am really only paying $15 more a month on my bill instead of upgrading to the Nationwide Premium or whatever for $160 plus whatever the TV will cost (probably another $15 on top of that). It makes since to me.

At this point Verizon will not let me do anything (plan related or otherwise). I just finished my second phone call, this time the CSR told me that there will be no more pre-orders until the 19th... which in that case I might as well be the first in line at my nearest store. So what's the deal? Why are they still advertising a pre-order on their front page that no longer exists? How could they hype the phone this much and not expect the high rate of pre-orders? It's ludicrous.

Look, do this. If you have America's choice, call Verizon, and demand that they change your plan to the Nationwide plan that corresponds to the one you currently have, then wait an hour, and pre-order online. Pre-orders are still on, just do it.

I've already spent way too much time on this. I'm on the waiting list at my nearest store, so I should be able to get one on the 21st. The whole changing plans thing doesn't sit right with me. Why should I be forced to switch plans when there IS a difference? I don't want to give up my current Mobile Web plan and be forced into paying more for Vcast. I can't imagine why they would allow me to continue using my Mobile Web plan, which is billed by the minute, when the new plans bill everything by MB's. 😕

DING DING DING.. WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Its all these newbies to Verizon that don't know about the old plans and the benefits that go with them. Remeber when you could buy mobile web for $5 a month? I do, I still have it. I guess I'll be able to surf the voyager for $5 while everyone else is paying $15 or whatever it is.

Yes, you can pay $5 for mobile web, using up minutes while you do it. If that suits you, that's cool. Different strokes for different folks. I like to have unlimited data for $10 more, that covers the data for pix messaging, vcast, and vz navigator.

The absolute only difference is that you get billed for data per MB not minutes, that is the only difference.
