Defective Phones (how many are really defective)
Mar 10, 2006, 8:03 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

Now a little background... I've been in wireless communications since 1999. I've seen ALOT of changes but one thing still bothers me... I see sooooooo many defective phones that it scares me. Who are these people that continue to get bad phones? It's not new people either.. It is the SAME people. "My phone drops calls" or "My phone can't get signal" or my all time favorite "It doesn't charge. People.. I am a power user of my wireless phone. I don't have a ...

Screw T-Mobile
Mar 10, 2006, 6:45 PM
in the AT&T forum

If you had to choose between T-Mo and Cingular.. It's hands down to go with Cingular. 100% better coverage map. Better reception and less dropped calls. The best thing T-Mobile can offer are the rate plans.. but as I say to my customers.. What good are a million minutes when you can't use the phone anywhere? T-Mo may offer you cheap phone prices but again.. What good is a cheaply priced phone when it doesn't pick up service anywhere outside Boston/Cambridge? Customer service ...

Anxio my friend you are wrong. With VZW you can upgrade a customer 21 months into a 24 month agreement. On a high enough calling plan we can make an exception and upgrade the customer 13 months into a 24 month agreement.

So we can do insurance claims in our store. Had a customer come in and I proceed to process the insurance claim. No big deal. I explain that it could be a refurbished unit in working order that could replace their VX6100. Of course their phone is in two pieces. I explain there is a shortage of those phones at the moment and it may take up to 10-20 days to replace it. I was out of loaners and was in ...

Here is one for you. Had a customer come into the store today. Walked in through the propped open door. It must be 70 degrees today. It's glorious out! Sun is shining, people are in a good mood and are buying product! So this customer walkes to one of my employees and sits down at her desk. They chat for a few minutes and gets her questions answered. The customer gets up and walks into the window, smacking their head. /me waits ...

Re: SHOCK! RAZR is crap (FOR GSM)
Mar 10, 2006, 11:33 AM
in the Verizon forum

Did you read the entire article? The rest of the article states that this is an issue pertaining to the GSM verzion of the V3 Razor. This means that it is a problem with the Cingular and T-Mobile phones. Aos I need to point out that motorola is aware of the issue (as per the article) and are replacing these phones ASAP. So far I haven't seen any issues with the V3 Razor for CDMA.. except the occasional defective charger in ...

Corp stores and undercutting agents
Nov 20, 2005, 12:26 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

I'd like to start an intelligent discussion regarding corporate wireless vs agent undercutting. One of the things I've noticed recently is the way the big red V treats our agency. For those that work in other fields, we agents have to BUY the phones we sell. We then in turn go and sell these phones with rate plans, data features, etc etc. We get paid in return for what we sell. When we buy a big stock of phones and the big ...

Re: Involuntary Ring.. Hey Argh here is a solution
Nov 18, 2005, 4:46 PM
in the Verizon forum

The current motorola models for VZW use profiles. There are three different profiles for the motorola e815. Ring, silent and vibrate. I had a customer come in who was complaining that her v265 sucked and it was broken because it would ring when set to vibrate. What she did is she modified the silent and vibrate profile to ring. So when she would turn on the silent of vibrate profile, the phone would ring. Of course when I tried to ...

lol! I can't drink anymore.. It sucks. I miss gin & tonic. Anyways this forum is boring due to a few things. Keep in mind this is my own opinion based upon my 7 years of experience in wireless. Sprint-Nextel is more or less quiet while trying to digest Nextel. They have ALOT of work ahead of them. This isn't something as relatively simple as asorbing a customer base with the same technology.. Oh no.. Sprint has to not only asorb the ...

No, no. This is 100% a COR kiosk. It's 100% owned and operated by cingular, not agents. Thank you G-Rad for your explanation and correction. Now I know the truth!

Re: Telesales.....
Nov 5, 2005, 10:39 AM
in the Verizon forum

You don't understand. Many wireless stores pay on straight comission. When a commission sales person helps a customer, and that customer does not buy (or goes to telesales or whatever), we just LOST money. That customer is now armed with the knowledge of a good rate plan, data services, etcetera. They make that call to telesales and boom, YOU get paid for doing 10 minutes of work... while the comissioned store sales rep just burned a good HOUR of their time. And ...

From my source at the Cingular owned kiosk here, they say that the "New" rollover minutes only last a month. Say you get 100 min from january, they expire on march 1st. You get 100 min from february, they expire on april 1st. Anyone confirm this?

Radioshack is not going to be carrying Verizon Wireless soon. They are liquidating their stock. Keep in mind that any phone you buy from RS is actually RadioShack property. I don't know how well the tech guys in the direct stores will handle a RS phone. I know how they handle a phone a customer bought from my IDA and I am assuming that is the same way with RS. Also I don't know how Radio Shack is advertising "no ...

Hey Texas. FYI that is very different from state to state. My commissions show up split from my wages on my W2 in my state up here in the NorthEast. I am also taxed higher on my commissions and bonuses due to the income tax rate here. I lose about 25-30% of my base salary due to taxes. I lose almost 40% of my commissions due to taxes. My returns are pretty large but still... Keep in mind this is a STATE income ...

Re: LG 4650 vs LG 5200

Ok. Comparison. LG-VX4650: Very loud, high quality speakerphone with external caller ID. This is a tri-mode phone. The speakerphone part can be activated in a call and the flip can be closed and the call continued. LG-VX5200: Fair camera phone with a decent speakerphone and external caller ID. This is NOT a tri-mode phone. This is a Dual-Band (digital only!!) phone. The speakerphone part can NOT be used once you close the flip as that will end your call. Bpar, to confirm you ...

Money issues to finish college and take my test, plus all the blasted refresher courses since it's been a few years This topic is for those in the sales floor only!

Sprint-Nextel is definately going to eat some loss. There is no doubt about it. There is not nearly as much fanfare about this merger when compared to the buyout of AT&T by Cingular. Seriously though I feel that VZW and Cingular will have a pretty even net add quarter. Mosty likely VZW will be higher in adds but by how much I cannot say. I feel that Cingular will still have higher churn rates. Their AT&T migrations are still having ...

Cool. I'd blast ya with an email if we did claims in the store but we don't. I just didn't know if Asurion did still cover physical damage. I figured we would get a notification and a new brochure update like we have in the past. Example: when asurion went from $3.99 to $4.99 a month.

I don't have stock in any company and I would like to see the 3Q numbers when they are released. I have a feeling that between VZW and Cingular, that their net adds will be rather similar. As to Nextel 18.. well check this one out. I was shopping at the local B. Dalton bookstore yesterday and they offered me to sign up with my email for coupons and things. Well I didn't but I briefly scanned those that did ...

To corp owned retail stores

We have a VZW corporate store nearby my agent store. WHY are these corporate people telling customers that Asurion doesn't cover damage to the phone? This must have been my 13th customer in the past week that our local direct store has lied to. The direct stores are telling these customers that Asurion does not cover a physically broken phone. Ideas anyone?

Also up in the NorthEast.. The minutes for starting an account are NOT, I repeat NOT pro-rated. Just the starting month charge is pro-rated. Freedomrep has the text options down. Also keep in mind that the $5, $10, $15 IN-Texting is also the same exact price for IN-Messaging. Thats the text option with the pix option included at no extra charge.

Shawn, Any rep can look up your most current minute usage. I can do a total bill lookup from anyone in my area via my e*roes system. It might lag a little behind real usage (read like 6-12 hours) but I can lookup your usage. Hell I can even look up multimedia messaging and data (kilobyte) usage! The VCAST package definately does not use any minutes when on the web. Get-It-Now is not a part of the web service NOR does it ...

Oh yes. These fools are back. I swear to everything holy these are the same idiots I dealt with last year saying "But I can get it free on the web from Verizon!" Yeah buddy.. Suuuuuuuure you can. It is on the 8100? That tabbed kinda-like-firefox-browser type of system? It's ok. I personally don't find it as nice as my vx4650 old school LG menu (in text and words not pictures of course!) I will admit though. Having the same standardized UI does make it easier when I have customers come in. Are you sure that is a VZW standard UI and not a "LG standard UI FOR Verizon Wireless?"

Which freakin phone is the UI on? Is it only on the VX5200? If it is then I haven't seen the UI yet cause I don't have that phone available to stock. Infocenter has been very jacked up recently so if there is a Online training for the new UI, I can't get to it.

Aside from the horrible customer service that Cingular provides.. I'd NEVER EVER send a customer to T-Mobile. NEVER. I'd rather see someone go onto Cingular than that craptastic wireless (NON)provider T-Mobile.

I'm gonna give you one major headsup Schnarf.. The people up in the NorthEast are DUMB. They are going to expect you to give them free credits for absolutely nothing. You will run into the people that say "but I didn't use that many minutes!! I'm never on my phone!!". These are the same people that said the will be fine when they started on the 400 minute plan. Ahh yes.. The ever mythical "car kit" error. I've seen this happen from two instances. 1st instance - Impact damage. The phone took some kind of impact and it damaged the charging port. Basically it has shocked the phone into thinking it's been plugged into a car kit 24/7. 2nd instance - Water damage. The phone took in some form of water or liquid damage. This shocked the phone into thinking it's been plugged into a car kit 24/7. I'd recommend taking ...

I'm thinking you might have a bad phone or where you are located, the VZW service is not as strong as it should be. I live in the northeast. I had a LG-VX4400 and it was fantastic. Crystal clear calls, great voice quality in and out. I upgraded to the LG-VX4650 earlier this year. Even BETTER sound quality in and out, great speakerphone, crystal clear calls. So I've no idea. I mean I've used and sold VX8100's here. The VCAST comes ...

It should be renewed when you order it I believe.. I may be mistaken. The box should be fully intact when you have it delivered. Please keep in mind when you order a phone off the internet, that NONE of the authorized VZW retailers will be able to help you. That means you will either have to use customer service for assistance or drive to your closest verizon wireless owned corporate store.

USMC, To change from the grandfathered local plans, you will need to sign a new 1 year agreement. The new family share is called the AC2 Family Share. The reason you need to sign a new agreement is so you can take advantage of the promotional free nights+weekends, the free IN-calling (mobile to mobile) and the unlimited domestic long distance on the VZW nationwide network with no roaming charges. Your upgrade date will NOT be affected. Now you may have to ...
