New to Verizon - have a few questions

EvilOrangeJello

I just recently purchased a phone through Verizon Wireless, and had a few questions with regards to the service. Anyone who can answer any or all of these questions will instantly be in my good graces 🙂

1. Is the first month's service prorated? If so, are the minutes prorated as well?
2. What text messaging plans, if any, are available? Please be as specific as possible in regards to price and messages included.
3. When a plan (America's Choice 39.99, if it helps) includes domestic long distance and roaming, is that organized by state, or is that organized by regional area?

Thanks in advance for any and all information you provide.

Yes the 1st mo is prorated. So basically your 1st bill will be for a month and half of service then you are postpaid. YES THE MINUTES ARE PRORATED, but don't worry about it if you go over just call 611 and bitch that ur sales rep didn't tell you they will credit the acct(Sorry call center guys and gals) There are 3 diffrent "IN" text plans ava. $5 per month gets unlimited txt, pix and flix to other vzw plus 50 mms msgs to non vzw. $10gets unlimited txt, pix and flix to other vzw plus 250 mms msgs to nonvzw.$15 gets unlimited txt, pix and flix to other vzw plus 500 mms msgs to nonvzw.
2.99 100msgs
4.99 250
9.99 1000
19.99 2500
The long distance is to anywhere in the US

Actually in my market, the bill is prorated but the minutes are not, a customer can be prorated for 2 days and have the full 450 minutes, this just went into effect with the last price plan changes, I thought it was accross the board but I might be wrong

Wow! no it's not across the board I wish it was! In eroes I can back date certain things like add-ons but not new acts. and you have no idea how many ppl i explain prorate 2 that still come back with 300$ ph bills threatning to kill me! Thats how I know that they will credit the acct. b/c then I get to call and look like an idiot (even though I always explain prorate) and ask them to credit the acct. What market are you in????

Also up in the NorthEast.. The minutes for starting an account are NOT, I repeat NOT pro-rated. Just the starting month charge is pro-rated.

Freedomrep has the text options down. Also keep in mind that the $5, $10, $15 IN-Texting is also the same exact price for IN-Messaging. Thats the text option with the pix option included at no extra charge.

EvilOrangeJello,

I am not sure how Verizon Wireless East works but out west the minutes ARE NOT Prorated. They used to be but not since May have they been. The dollar amount will be prorated from the day of service to your bill cycle date. They will add your activation fees, taxes, and what not to the first bill. All of the text message plans that were given in a previous post are correct. I work as an indirect agent for Verizon. Please let me know if I can be of any more help. Welcome to the best!! 😎

Being a call center rep for verizon, I resent you telling the customer to call in and complain they were not advsd of the prorates to get credit. Previously before prorates were mostly eliminated, we spent most of our day having customers screaming at us because they were not advsd. Seeing as how the customer was supposed to get a print out of the prorates, csr's now advise the customer if they were not given the prorate sheet they need to refer back to the store and rep who changed the price plan.
