I'm happy with it!

Dec 29, 2006 by ChicPea

PROS:
I think it's a great phone with a lot to offer. I've been pleased with it thus far.

CONS:
The fingerprint issue.

One of The Best Phones

Dec 29, 2006 by 247Nick2317

One of the best phones I have ever had. Every feature on the phone is perfect. When I walk down the street everybody says to me nice phone. I do have to say I think it is a very nice phone. Here are my Pros and Cons.

PROs
Clean Lines
Size
Appearance
Everything Else

CONs
Screen slow when opening phone
Finger print magnet!

Besides That, BEST PHONE IN THE WORLD!!!!!

*Better than the cherry chocolate*

Dec 27, 2006 by miamichica

I just exchanged my cherry chocolate for this phone.
1. texting on the cherry was extremely difficult. Numbers/letters are way too close together.
2. the sensors on the front were acting up
3. ringtone volume way too low
4. shutting/snoozing alarm you have to unlock phone first in order to shut off sound, and when you're half asleep its annoying and too much of a process!

LG-VX3800 (this chocolate flip phone)

Cons: SPEAKER IS BEYOND LOW. It's awful, and i didnt beleive the reviews until i tested it for myself! Camera quality sucks compared to the Razr's.

Pros: music player sensor buttons on the front, stock ringtones arent so bad, ringtones are loud, alarm isnt a pain, and everything else it has to offer.

Good Phone

I just got this phone. Replaced an LG 8300 and believe me this is an upgrade in most aspects, with a few exceptions.

Pros:
Sleek - Modern Design
Very thin
Color displays
Screen Size
Reception is great

Cons:
Speaker phone is very low as already stated in other reviews.
Phone gets very nasty with finger prints on it immediately after opening it and removing the plastic.
Charging port is very weak and flimsy. Probably something that will break or strip out after a bit.

Awesome Phone!

Dec 19, 2006 by PhoneChic143

This phone is one of the best phones I have ever owned! I have used the phone for about three weeks now, and love it.

PROS:
Slim design
Easy Text messaging key pad
Easy to use
Great reception
Bluetooth works well
Big display (inside and out)
Read text messages on the front display
Loud ringtones
Camera quality is decent, as well as video
Sound quality is awesome

CONS:
Cant set separate text alert for contacts
Fingerprints show easily

Overall, this phone is awesome and I would recommend it to anyone!

Nice Phone

Dec 18, 2006 by pearls4t

I got this phone a couple of days ago and so far, I like it. I am switching from a Samsung SCH-a670 and found the LG menu very easy to navigate with minimal references to the users manual. I was considering the Chocolate but decided on this one because the phone functions on the Chocolate are controlled by the touch sensor buttons which would seem to be an issue when the phone is in use and up to your ear and the 8600's external touch sensors are for the MP3 only. I have not used the MP3 player yet, so I cannot comment on that, although I will say that buying the memory separately was a pain.

Pros so far:
Sexy, sleek and shiny black casing with "chrome" trim. Bright external and internal LCD display. Can read messages from the external display. Excellent voice recognition features.

Cons so far:
The main reason I was hesitant about this phone is the width. It is very wide for a woman's slender hand and it makes texting with your thumb (which is what most people do) very difficult, especially when using the 3, 6, 9 column nearest the thumb. Also, the phone is very long when open, almost like talking on a landline phone. The only other con I have is the location of the toggle switches on the top screen half of the phone. They would be better accessed if placed on the bottom half where the handset is actually held.

Overall, I do like this phone and will probably keep it, although every time I walk by the Chocolate in a store, I have second thoughts about taking advantage of the 15 day guarantee and trading it in for the slimmer, more innovative Chocolate.

GET REAL

Dec 12, 2006 by darkohanzo

The phone is wonderful for the basic consumer that wants a phone that looks like its worth more than it really is.
Those of you who are squabbaling over the speakerphone being too quiet and returning it because of that, i really hope you stop and think about how often you really use the speakerphone. Yes it is quiet but its called get a headset. Im tired of listening to your conversations with your friend about how cute the new boy at school is anyways!
The phone is great. I had the sony w810i with cingular, WONDERFUL phone and rated one of the best but in my opinion this one still beats it mainly for the call quality. yea the camera isnt the best but you should have known that when you bought the phone! its only a 1.3 MP! Youre not going to get photo quality pics out of it, again.. deal with it or just dont swipe your credit card when it comes to buy it.
I am a banker and i will highly recommend this phone to anyone that has to wear a suit to work or just look nice on a daily basis because the phone is a great looking phone. the keypad is great.. the razr pulled at my facial hair and this one doesnt..
hinge quality, i havent had problems with but have heard rumors. But you mistreat any phone and youll have to suffer the consequences. Thats normal. but ive droppe dthis thing so far nothign is wrong. like i said i highly recommend this phone.

Much Better Than Expected...Thus Far

Dec 12, 2006 by BLRoss300

I'll start this review by stating that I had the 8500 prior to this...and I was a bit leary of going to the 8600 due to the poor experience of the 8500.

This 8600 is down right Nasty!!

PROS:
Screen- Outside LCD is very bright and clear
Inside-the same as above
Feel- Very solid, this phone feels like the Razor.

Sound: The earpiece very loud if you like it that way and very clear. The ringtones also are pretty good.

Speaker Sound: Actually not that bad. Because of where the speaker sits on the phone, it makes the sound noticably better than the 8500.

Battery: I'll update this at a later date. I've only had the phone 24hrs.

CONS:

Speaker: Although the speaker is overall okay, I'd wish this speaker would be a bit louder, yet just as clear.

Headset Jack: I truly dislike the use of an adapter in order to use headsets. This almost forces you to spend the extra money and buy the wireless headsets...I just might do that.

Other than that...This phone sounds, looks, feels and so far better than the 8500. So spend the extra $30-$40 bucks! ITS WORTH IT!

Excellent phone

I don't write many reviews -- I read a lot of them, but I don't write a ton. This phone was the first that warranted a comment -- it is that good.

I have been a verizon customer for a long time and I switched to cingular to try something new -- big mistake. Consider yourself lucky for being with verizon -- I have been to the other side and it sucks. But that is a story for another time.

In the process of switching carriers over the last couple months I have tried a lot of phones -- various v3s, the Sony w810 among them. None have been as good as the 8600.

pros:
great sound quality
fast data on verizon network
very customizable
good camera
nice thin form factor
software is good

cons:
bluetooth is a little scratchy - not sure if its the phone or headset

I haven't tried to music player yet or tried to get music on to the phone.

I downloaded a great game and the screen on the phone is great.

No phone is perfect but this is as close as it gets. Can't recommend it enough.
