Great Phone

Jun 29, 2008 by cpsarna

I am surprised by the negative comments on this phone. I have had it for 1 1/2 years, and no complaints. Great reception, loud ring, great screen visibility, mp3 works well, however, vcast not as user friendly as itunes. Unfortunately, Verizon has discontinued this phone so I will not be able to get it again.

best phone out there

I love this phone, about like 7 of my friends returned their phones and got this phone, I kinda started a trend. Hands down it is the best phone I've ever had and I love it, I'd get it again and again *

The worst phone I've ever had!

Jun 11, 2008 by singha

I have owned this phone for about a year and a half now and I can easily say that this is the worst phone I've ever owned.

Pros:
- Slim
- Decent variety of features for the price

Cons
- Bad battery life
- Battery life gets much worse after a year
- Speaker phone is super low volume. Sometimes it is hard to distinguish if its the earphone or speaker phone.
- Average to poor reception. I've never had so many dropped calls with Verizon before.
- Easily gets scratched
- Fingerprint magnet
- Boring/Ubnoxious ringtones
- Hard to use MP3 player.
- Other verizon specific cons

If any Verizon employee is reading this, I'd like to tell them that this phone has made my experience with VW so bad that I'm ready to switch to AT&T.

Worst phone I have owned.

May 22, 2008 by xoishyox

After owning 3 faulty V3M Motorola Razors, Verizon sent me the LG 8600.

I was not impressed with this phone what so ever. The first one the sent me was new. But it got terrible reception. Thinking it was that individual phones problem, they sent me another. That phone didn't work on arrival, and when I got the third phone, I still experienced reception difficulties. I again, called Verizon. They told me that they had just stopped making the phone because of the reception reason.

So I was stuck with the 8600 for a year. I live in Ohio. Everyone with Verizon who came to my house had reception but me. My phone constantly read No Service. Three of my friends also got the same phone, they sold theirs on Ebay a few weeks after because of the reception and batteries issues.

Not everything about the phone is terrible. It is aesthetically appealing, slim design and has decent internal display.

Besides the short battery life and ridiculous reception, I also did not the key pad. It was smooth all the way across, making dailing a call while driving almost impossible. It also made texting a pain.
The camera was terrible. Every photo was yellow and grainy.
The sound in the ear piece was muffled and unclear, but the speaker phone wasn't any better. I could hear better with the volume turned all the way up, then with that phone on speaker phone.
The side volume button stopped working about 8 months after receiving the third phone.
When texting you can't save the "word" or "t9" setting. You have to manually reset it everytime you send a text. Which is 3 clicks.

Even all the other problems didn't bother me I still would never buy this phone because of the reception. The only time I had 3+ bars was right under a tower. I was paying for a service I wasn't receiving.

So yesterday I bought the new enV2. There couldn't be a better designed phone. It's absolutely amazing. No complaints. AND I even get 2 bars in my house.

This "Chocolate" left me feeling Bitter

I have had this phone since February of 2008, but I wanted it long before I actually came to own one. I feel in love with this phone at first sight. The touch sensitive music player buttons caught my eye and the sleek, all black design left me breathless. Be this as it may, once I actually got the phone, I wasn't as pleased. The first thing I noticed off the bat was that this phone doesn't have a flash. I noticed this when I look at displays of the phone, but I thought that maybe that flash was present somewhere and I didn't catch it. Sound of all, the phone is magnetic and I have piercing at the tops of my ears and whenever I had earrings in the top and was on the phone, I constantly lost signal. This can get very annoying after while. Something else I did not like was that it is so hard to text on this phone. On ordinary phones, the buttons are seperated into a grid. This phone, on the other hand, has all the buttons on one pad.

Pros:

Functions, such as texting and game playing, can be done during active call

Ringtones are pretty loud

Speaker for music playing is excellent, considering there is only one

Cons:

Hard to text

No flash for camera

Speaker phone for calls is horrible and low

Hard to keep cover finger print-free

Magnet by ear piece

Side buttons are on the sides of the screen of the phone instead of the base

Microphone is off to the left side of the base instead of its normal position

Best phone I've had.

I haven't had too many 'nice' phones, this was my first 'nice' one. Before this, I had two super old phones, some LG that's not even listed, and a Motorola v120-something, and then a Motorola v265. But this phone was my favorite.

I had this phone with Verizon, for several months. Here come the pro's & con's:

PRO'S:
-Great UI, especially the volume and other side buttons at the top, when the phone is open
-Vibrant, crisp, colorful screns (internal & external)
-Call quality great, no dropped calls
-Great key pad, I loved the layout. they keys were big, & nicely spaced
-Thin phone, but not too thin. I could hold without feeling like there was a piece of tissue paper in my hand
-Nice ringtones, wallpaper, and ring & earpiece volume
-Good music speaker. Sounded great for a phone
(Unfortunately, my texting was cut off, so I have nothing to add about that)

CON'S:
-Fingerprints, but all you have to do is wipe 'em off, so who cares
-Speaker volume wasn't too loud, but not too annoying
-Side buttons, when phone was closed, would somehow turn on the music, and seemed like work was its favorite time to. had to turn the volume on 0 so it wouldn't get me in trouble

A great phone if you dont want to call anyone.

The saying don't judge a book by its cover fits very well with this phone. I have had 3 of the vx8600 in the past year, either because of the microphone or the call quality. On the outside, this phone looks cool and like it will work fine but that is far from the description I would give. The vx8600 is a nice phone with cool features but the main reason of a phone is to talk to people and call people somewhere else. With this phones very poor call quality and bad reception i would never buy it again. The problem with the reception is that I live in a big city with many phone towers. On my previous phone the (blackberry pearl) I got all bars and full service. But this phone got only almost 3 bars in the city. I have taken it back to verizon and they have replaced it 3 times, and I have had the same problem each time. So if you were to ask me if you should get the vx8600 I would very well say no. Luckly I am getting the voyager in a few months so I will be done with this piece of junk.

Great alternative to Razor 2

Jan 29, 2008 by salesperson

I have this phone currently and have had it for about 2 months now. I work for a retail agent and this is the phone that they gave me to use. It's my first LG phone. Overall I have few complaints, it's a really cool phone that has caused me to hate my Motorola phone...it's just old.

Pros:
*slim design and wide like the razor v9m
*external mp3 touchscreen
*bluetooth and memory card capable
*can set your video as your wallpaper-with a memory card can record up to 2 hours video
*picture id and nice external screen
*good battery life, especially if you're using it as a phone or to text, videos and mp3 player use up a little more battery.

--the absolute best thing about this phone is that I used it over the holidays as my video camera and I can upload my videos to the computer and it comes out in good quality.

Cons:
*no hypertext when texting...I like for my phone to predict what I'm going to text after I have texted that word or phrase before. (it does have speed texting though)
*is very smudgy so you have to get a leather case just so you don't smudge up the phone.
*it's also very slippery, I dropped it 3 times my first day, then I got a leather case, just so I can keep a grip on the phone.
* Unless I'm unaware of how to, I can't set my customized menu like I can with my motorola.
*comes in lots of colors....but not pink!! : (

Overall is a cool and hot phone, and for a decent price, however is being discontinued, i feel too soon.
