Worst Nokia EVER!!!

Jul 7, 2005 by endfoulks

I have had this phone for 3 days and i have had a nokia since the 5100's were the best nokia on the market. The 5100 is better than this phone, backlight is really bad ringers need alot to be desired and this is the first nokia i had with out an antenna. I now have a samsung and it gets better reception than the nokia did (thats not right). this phone was fre with me contract but i am willing to pay for a better phone. Nokia needs improvement here. P.S. I have now had the samsung for a day and am going to get the motorola v505 tomorrow, but save the trouble and avoid this phone.

Ive had this phone for about 2 months and a half...for a phone with no camera...its amazing!i really like this phone...it would be cooler if the screen was abit bigger so the games would look better and it would be nice to have a camera...either than that this phone is flat out amazing...the reception is the best ive ever seen on any phone...its always full even in my basement!my friend has a samsung and the reception isnt even comparable to the nokia 6010's reception...when he receives a call in my basement he has to run upstairs or else his phone will drop the call...but for my nokia 6010 that has never happened to me its the best i recommend this to anyone who wants an awesome non-camera phone for a really cheap price...it even changes faceplates...u can almost change anything...download games, screen saves, graphics, polyphonic ringtunes...excellent phone 9/10

I'm not happy with my Nokia 6010.

I had an old account cell phone account that changed hands over time from SunCom to AT&T Wireless to Cingular. From what I understand my old account was not on Cingular's GSM network, but something else. My old service worked great and I really liked my old Nokia 5160 phone. I owned the phone for about 6 years. The battery was getting old and had problems holding a charge, but the actual phone itself performed great even through a lot of abuse. At the recommendation of a sales rep with Cingular, I decided to upgrade my phone to something with a larger address book instead of just purchasing a new battery for my old phone. I had to "upgrade" my cell service as well to GSM. Unfortunately, my new phone and service are lacking. The 6010's reception and sound quality are of poor quality. Dropped calls are the norm. The good old days are gone.

Other than no speakerphone.......

Feb 21, 2005 by canddmeyer   updated Nov 25, 2013

Carrier: AT&T Wireless

It's been a great phone. I love the size compared to my 3120's. Other than not having the 900/1800 bands or speakerphone, I have no complaints. Great battery life too.

Another pro is a standardized headset jack. All in all, if you're not leaving the US, then this is a great basic entry phone. I got it for my parents who were tickled to have jumped in on the $9.99 add-a-line promo with a free phone, IN calling, and my 7PM nights ($14 on my FT plan for all lines).

11-2013 update to the above 2005 review:

My parents still have this. ATT had to do a software update when the phone became obsolete due to network improvements, but the updates worked and other than a new battery the Nokia continues to impress.

Not A Good Pay-As-You-Go Phone

Great phone if you're using a rate plan. I bought it from AT&T as a Free 2 Go phone and i had to stop using it and go back to my old Nokia 2260 (talk about an ancient phone), because whenever your phone gets any message it just says message received. It doesn't tell you what kind of message, so when you push to view the message it automatically signs you onto the web if it's a web message or email. Talk about wasting all my minutes. And I couldn't find a way to block web use. Other than always having to refill my minutes every week!!!! the phone's features are great.

NOKIA IS THE BEST PHONE

I had verizon wireless and it was the worst it had good service but the phone was to exspensive. But then when i got my Nokia 6010 It was cheap and it only cost me $39.99 at target. When i first got the phone i knew that i was not gone new use all of the minutes it gave me or even half of them.So if you are loking for it get the Nokia 6010 and T-mobile service to-go.

Unhappy with phone

Pros - voice activated dialing

Cons - terrible reception. I previously had the 3560 and had not problems. I wanted to upgrade to a family shared minutes plan and told I had to change phones and this was a comparable model. People tell me many times they only hear every other word, and I sound like I'm talking in a barrel. I have Cingular service. However several times when I try dialing a number it will say Unicel does not recognize this phone and can not complete the call. So therefore I was unable to dial any number, not even Cingular, my carrier.
If you go near a computer, or a speaker phone, it will cause the computer or speaker to start buzzing very loudly.
I have had several Nokia phones, but this is the first one I have been unhappy with.

We have about 10 of these in stock that we reserve strictly for "technically" challenged customers. Especially the older customers that really don't want a cell to begin with.

Nokia 6010

Problem I am having with 2 of these phones. At times when the screensaver kicks in it freezes up both of these phones. This is when the phone shows the time on the screen with out any other info. You then need to take the battery out to get the phone to run again. I have emailed Nokia about this with no reply yet to date after 3 weeks. I have also asked my cell phone service provider about this "Unicel". They are checking into the problem. There seems to be no way to turn the screensaver off on these phones. I'll repost after I receive more info. Besides that problem the phone works great.
