A Good choice

Jan 6, 2007 by maxwellrich

This was my first phone and it has held up well. The camera is substandard but the screen and audio is rich and full bodied. I love the feel of the keypad and the battery life and the size of the phone is descent although alittle chubby. Overal it is a very good phone, it just needs a software update and mroe memory!

Literally disintegrates under abuse.

To summarize, before getting into the tirade, if you are gentle to it, this /used to be/ a good phone, three years ago. The main things that were bad about it were:

* Camera is just a toy, really. Poor resolution, no flash.

* Reception: Your mileage may vary, mine was poor at work (downtown Chicago); make sure you have a trial period, and check your favorite hang-outs for service.

* Clock is dependent on cell phone service, which is, IMO, just plain DUMB -- it means that the critical reminders you programmed into your phone might not remind you at all, if your phone reboots in an area without service! What the heck were they thinking?! A hearing aid battery can keep a digital watch running for months! Why make the clock dependent on a cell phone tower?! Sheesh.

* Side buttons get pressed in your pocket, putting the phone into silent mode (not even vibrating), causing you to MISS YOUR CALLS! Great phone design there.

* Not enough space in the phone memory to fit a complete address -- what's that about?

* One smart move I made was to buy two batteries at the initial purchase; well worth it.

* There is no way to have the phone ring quietly and vibrate; it's either vibrate-only or vibrate and LOUD.

* Some of the default ring-tones are incapable of being heard from across a three-bedroom apartment. I'm only 32; I shouldn't be hard-of-hearing yet. So I... you guessed it... MISSED MY CALLS!

not so great now....

ok when i got this phone in 2004 (first phone) i liked it. it had camera, color screen, the moving front screen lol, and text messaging. now after 2.5 years of abuse, i realized that this phone is junk.

pros
-kinda small size
-voice ringers
-can put it on vibrate without openinig it

cons
-camera sucks
-the cradle charger doesnt work anymore
-battery life sucks
-reception is garbage
-very little memory
-menus get slow after a while
-i dont wanna be here all day so im gonna stop here

if someone gives you this phone as a replacement, DONT TAKE IT!!!!!! use insurance or save up $150 and buy a brand new one from verizon

im sooooo glad i have the vx8300 now =]

1.5 Yrs in use.

So far i had this phone for over 1.5yrs and its been great. The camera is decent, it takes good pictures in good lighting, in the dark not so well. With average use i managed to get little scratches, the antenna is beginning to peel the plastic layer. The battery is dying slowly, now with average use the phone died for me within 8hours. i was at work and just messing around with it, and when i was leaving work the battery was flashing and died. Thats what you get for using the same phone for over a year. But pretty much its in great condition i dropped it numerous amounts of times and its still handeling itself very well. The phone has also been acting up, i've been getting dropped calls and my calls are not getting through and such, but all this has just started to happen, so its a problem with overtime wear. I would still recommend this phone to anyone, the only reason i wouldnt recommend it is because of the camera in this day and age. VGA is still good but with the new phones comming out with Megapixels, that is a plus.

Um NO!

This phone is quite interesting

2004--biggest thing ever one of the best phones out there like everyone I knew had it including myself and everyone I knew who didn't have it wanted it.

2 years later

2006--This is the worst phone out there. The people who have it are miserable and feel stupid for buying this phone in 2004. People are still pondering the fact that this use to be the top phone.

Pros
~light
~easy to use
-good for the elderly when they are buying there first phone...thats about it though
~get it now is easy to use
Cons
~No speaker phone
-I don't know how many times I've heard from my friends and family "I hate how your phone doesn't have speaker phone"
-the 4500 has a speaker phone...
~Poor Battery life
~Signal strength is not consistent
-might have full bars in a place sometime and some days have none
~battery doesn't stay on
-one drop and the battery is like destroyed
~during my two year contract i have had to replace the phone twice for battery related issues
~no storage space
-you can only hold like 20 (give or take a few) pictures
-one ring tone application I cannot use because the phone doesn't have enough memory period to use it
~Prone to scratches and cracks
-mine is very scratched and its my replacement that i got in January

I say don't buy it...it's a waste of good money

Where to start. well when i first go it two years ago, this phone was the **** and as time went by it has gotten worse and worse.

I purchased it in 2004 and it was great, i got signal everywhere, and i mean everywhere. and now it don't even get signal outside in some places. anyone interested in it, just forget it it's ****.

Pros:
Pretty good camera
Picture and ringer ID
Quick navigation
Clear screen

Cons:
CRAP
Front screen cracks easily
drops calls easily
horrible signal
horrible battery life

Overall:
Not that great of a phone, dont buy it.
I don't recommend it. Pass, get a different phone.

DO NOT ACQUIRE ONE OF THESE BY ANY MEANS

Purchased initially May 04' from Verizon for $275.00. Phone functioned adequately for 3 months before dropping DEAD!! Would not receive or make calls but still powered on. Sent to LG for repairs, received a new one. Battery kept having to be reset, and it finally after 2 months would not receive calls. Sent back to LG through Verizon, who told me that his model was being replaced with the VX6100 and it was sent to me as a replacement. LG, however, sent another VX6000 back to me for all my trouble. This phone I gave to my son for a replacement for his LG510 which had also dropped DEAD!! After sending the VX6000 to him in Florida it lasted 2 weeks before it began dropping calls, would only work when being charged,(new battery made no difference) could barely understand conversations; etc. Am now in the process of acquiring another brand of phone to replace these LG's. Also 2 weeks ago, purchased an LG VX4400 (factory refurbished) to replace another line on Family plan. This new? phone lasted 4 days after activation; dropped calls, no ring, etc. Have been given a refund by Seller. As you can see by now I am not an LG lover! Fortunately, the Vx 6100 is still operational, but for how long?

VX6000 Pros: Love the color front display, especially at night when driving.

VX6000 Cons: Poor reception, poor quality, cheaply made, and the units evidently have many manufactured electronics flaws!!! LG needs to get their act together.

Good Phone, Takes a heck of a beating!

The LG VX6000 is a good camera phone. I am very hard on my phones and like to use them for a while until my next upgrade. My LG VX6000 has been beaten up to the point where the battery will not even stay on without being taped. The back of my phone went from being silver, to grey. I must say, that I am surprised this phone has lasted so long. I had a kyocera slider a while back. Dropped it sevrel times and the thing wound up getting severly messed up. I must admit though, as much as I like the 6K, it does has its Cons. The phone often hits bugs and needs replaceing. SO far I'm on my 3rd 6K in about 1 year or 2. Here is my list of pros and Cons about the phone

PROS: Gets good reception, has good battery life, durable, has a decent camera, is great for text messageing(keys are nice and big) and cool looking.

CONS: has a bugs that ruin the phone and you need a replacement. The camera can only hold 20 pictures.
