Needs Software upgrades

Oct 19, 2003 by Ian

Overall this is a good phone. However there are a few flaws that I hope will be fixed in the near future.

1. This one I havent seen noted by others that have reviewed the phone, but is the biggest problem for me. I get a lot of text messages. While I am talking on the phone there is no alert (call waiting beep, for example) that you have received a message. My girlfriend sent me several messages one time, and started to think I was mad at her because I was on the phone for a long time, and never knew I had incoming messages. I want to know when I get a message. The same goes for picture messages or voice mail...no alert at all if you are on the phone.

2. There are no "reminder" beeps if you miss a call or message. The external screen will show it, but it turns off after 3 mins. So if you miss a call and look at your phone 10 mins later, you will have no idea anything happened, unless you make a point to check it.

3. The external screen needs to be able to stay on, and the little status lights that you can set to mean different things need to keep going while the screen is on. Even at the expense of battery life. I already have an extended life battery.

4. The alerts for messages/voice mail are not loud enough. I work in a loud environment, and can never hear them.

5. Changing the ringer style to vibrate will not change the alerts to vibrate...so your text message/voice mail alerts still have the same, almost inaudible alert.

6. The keypad will not stay lit up longer than 7 seconds. It should stay lit for as long as you have the screen set to stay lit.

Sells Like Hotcakes!

I am a retailer, and I can tell you that the LG VX6000 is a great, dependable phone. I cannot keep them in stock for long!

I have not had any complaints yet; however the only problem I see with this phone is that it is all digital. Here in Northern New Jersey, Verizon works great but still has a few analog spots.

Other than that, I would highly recommend this phone to anyone. The colors are just wonderful!

Best phone I've ever owned

I've used the VX6000 for a little over a week now and am very impressed. I change phones more than some people change underwear, and I can't imagine getting a new phone for quite a while after this one. I don't care about the camera function and haven't tried it yet, so I can't comment about it, but I can assume it's not great. The batter life is excellent. The sound quality is very good (better than the VX4400). The reception is on par with the VX4400. The ringers are a bit lame. The external display is great, except for the scrolling, which is irritating, and the colored dots which are obnoxious. The color screen is fantastic. I wish the retail price was lower, but it will probably come down in 6 months.

It's really great phone

You can take a picture, and you can use that as caller ID on your main screen.

If you take your friend, you save that with his/her information in you phone book.

If the one call you, you can see his/her picture on you main screen. It is awesome nobody have ever seen in the USA Market.

I saw this phone on the billboard Ads in San Diego, first impression of mine which was really great design made me buy that one finally.

If you buy this one, you don't need to worry about your cell-phone anymore.

I demo'd the phone today and I think it has some potential. I can't say anything about call quality, battery life, etc. But, the camera feature is quality and very easy to use. You CAN zoom, but you must reduce the resolution of the picture to do so. (I think this is so every picture is stored/sent at the same size (kb). I also saw a brochure about their PIX messaging and you get unlimited messaging for 2.99 per month until 2004, then it changes to 20 messages per month for the same price. You can still use the camera for saving pictures for wallpaper/Caller IDs without this subscription, however.

Great Phone!

Overall this is a great phone. I feel pretty much the same as everyone else in regards to some of the things that you would like the phone to do. For the person that is getting garbled text messages try disabling the signature feature on the phone.

EXCELLENT phone, give or take a few things!

I got this phone last month and am delighted with it -- I previously had the LG-VX10 and am happy that battery-strength nightmare is over, even though I actually do PREFER LG phones over others.

The pros of this phone:
- not one dropped call
- excellent reception/volume/sound
- non-tethered, built-in camera's an added bonus (and the mirror next to the lens helps to frame your picture)
- cool, cutting-edge design, shape and the screen is super-bright, even in the sun
- GET-IT-NOW really helps to personalize your ringers, games -- a REAL bonus for those who take their phone seriously

Cons:
- The back light on the keys really COULD stay on longer, or it would be nice if you could modify the time it does stay on
- The camera NEEDS a flash (!!!)
- A revolving camera (i.e., flipping the top part around so you can see the display) would be cool, so you can see exactly what you're shooting and how you're framing it
- the external color LCD display with the green, blue and orange dots that indicate whether you have a message/incoming call can be confusing until you memorize the patterns

All in all, I give it a 4.5. It's Verizon Wireless's first camera phone -- and a great start, at that. With the network that it relies on, I'm very satisfied! :)

LG 6100

Oct 27, 2009 by narn3049

I had already made another review saying about the 6100 and how I had 2 that froze, and 2 that worked, then anyway, I know it's been awhile for since they came out.

Well the other day I got one again. I really like it, one of the benefits of owning it is that it has a camera lens cover, so if in your pocket with something then it won't scratch your lens. I really hope more phones come out with this kind of design.

The one flaw I have been having with this phone is, I'll go to send a message (text) and I'll press send to send the message, it wont send the message. I will have to take out the battery and coponents and insert them again to get it to power back on. This doesn't really bug me though, since it is not so signifficant and I just wanted to mention it to you, this phone gets a 5.0, i have owned the 6000, well more played with one at verizon when my friend was getting a new phone years back, and while the volume bug existed on the 6000, and some people claim for it to be on the v6100 i can surely say it isn't. Now I've owned a lot of phones, even a gzone, and they had flaws. This one out of the 19 or so I have owned has had the best call quality ever. I would truly recommend it.

I've had this phone for about two year, and to tell you it is a really dependable phone.
Camera is good in well lit areas.
The phone is very sturdy, and I rarely had a drop call.
