LG has gotten a lot better

Apr 22, 2003 by Mary Fisher

My first phone was an LG510. I loved the features of the phone, but the phone itself had more problems than I could handle. I finally convinced myself to buy the 4400, even though I had a lot of distrust in LG's products still. I LOVE IT. This phone is not only great with signal, but also has all of the newest features. I've already downloaded almost 20 ringers and a whole bunch of pics. The pics do come out a little dark on the screen, but it's still a nice feature. The only downside I see in the phone is the battery life. I'm a big talker and the colored screen drains the battery very quickly. I would recommend springing for the extended battery if you use a lot of minutes. Other than that, the phone is great. I would defenitly recommend it to anyone looking for a colored screen phone.

Love this phone

I love this phone.
I live in Madison, WI and get great reception and call clarity on this phone. I used to have a Kyocera 2035a and it would go to analog a lot. This phone stays digital or 1x all the time. I have used it in MN, WI, MI, TN, and LA so far and it has been great. I love to pass time playing the games in color.

Overall an Excellent Phone for the $$$$$$

I was quite surprised when I purchased this phone how well the audio on it was, this phone is packed with features with only some minor drawbacks. The ring tone selection is not very good, the scrolling section is close together making it sometimes difficult to use if you have large fingers, when using the phone it is too easy to accidentally push one of the side keys on the phone. Overall for the Buck, its by far the best phone I have ever had!!! Highly Recommend!!!!!

This is the best phone verizon has right now, but what does that really tell you? They never really have great phones.

Have verizon service in S. Louisiana. Old phone, Audiovox 9100, started to go, so I got this. Before that, I had a startac.

pros:
- comes with desktop charger
- love ringer id. know who's calling when the phone is on the charger; best feature in new cells
- battery life pretty good for a flip, and charges fairly quickly
- reception is great in hi-obstruction or wooded areas, as long as towers are around
- locks easily, converts to silent mode quickly; can see potential problems with the button on the side of the phone (changes mode when flip closed) because it is exposed, but no problems yet
- flashing external LCD when phone is ringing is nice when phone is in silent mode
- good size and cosmetically decent
- call quality sounds better than my previous phones

cons:
- ring tones are horrible, only one is "normal"; even the downloadable ones are ick. not pretty (9100 was better)
- vibrate is available, but weak, so easily over-looked/unfelt
- phone seems "insubstantial" (cheap and plasticky); scratched up too much after 1 month's use; worry about crushing it or dropping it
- outer LCD display is large, exposed, and worried it will scratch or crack
- hate having navigation key directly linked to browser and getitnow; don't use these often enough for them to be so central; would prefer other features more accessible
- internal screen is impossible to read in daylight; have to be inside to see anything
- reception is poor when towers are scarce; recent business trip up north left me isolated
- poor battery life in analog
- weird rubber plugs in phone sockets are not attractive
- no speaker phone; used to have a one-way speaker and its hard to live without (so handy w/automated phone systems, voice mail, and waiting on hold)

This doesn't come close to my 2 previous phones. Still, its the best "phone" (vs. browser) Verizon has right now. Will take some getting used to.

Great phone!

I have owned this phone for about 3 months now and i really like it! the ring tones are louder than on the VX10 (my previous phone) and the color display and lights on the keys are very nice! the only really bad thing that i can say about it is that the recption on the phone is not that good. I find my phone going into ANALOG very easly and taking a long time to come out. Also when it is in analog making a call out is almost impossible.

Pros-
Nice and small
easy to use

Cons-
Battery life is short
ANALOG problems

Almost great phone

I had been one of the many who were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 4400. It certainly seems to function better than the 720, but as many have said the 720 may be a little more sleek. I guess this is one of my problems with the phone, namely it is a little thick. Also the holster is not great. Finally, the ring tones are lame.
Yet, the display is nice and the sound quality and ability to make and hold a call are great. The last 2 items are arguably the most critical features of any phone.
All said, I do not think there is another phone as good that is available at Verizon.

Awesome Phone

I recently purchased the LG VX4400 with Verizon wireless and was greatly impressed! I was the owner of a LG TM510 and promised myself I would never purchase an LG phone again because of the fact that I had to have my phone replaced 4 times. The VX4400 redeemed them. It's color contrast is the sharpest of all the color screen phones. The battery life is wonderful and the features are plentiful. I was pleased to fine out that this was one of the first phones where you could download and save pictures as wallpaper. The only thing I don't like about the phone is the with software version TC4VZV04 the minute timer doesn't accurately display when you're roaming or not but that has been corrected with software version TC4VZV06. I have had the phone for about 3 months now and have no complaints. It picks up a pretty good signal and rarely drops a call.

Get this phone!

This phone has absolutely everything anyone could want! Thanks to Verizon, you can download anything from the "I Dream of Jeannie" theme ringtone to an Etch-A Sketch application to pictures for your wallpaper with what Verizon calls Get It Now (which is absolutely amazing!) Besides the fact that you can personalize your phone, it comes with features like an answering machine separate from voice mail (you can screen your calls before answering), good volume levels, and easy-to-use voice-activated dialing. As color phones go, the battery life on the phone is outstanding; it doesn't drain as quickly as say the T720. I am quite taken with this phone and the service that came with it. I am also very pleased with Verizon. I was referred by a friend of mine, and I thank her every day! If you want to see more, take a look at www.verizonwireless.com/getitnow.
You'll be glad you did! I sure am!

Had this phone for a couple of days traded in this phone for a slider nothing really wrong with this phone only the ring tones were kinda iffy (not good) wallpapers were kind of boring plain didn't like the square shape got good reseption but it echoes
only reason i really traded it in was because of my personal preferences other wise it's a really great phone and still....i recommend it

Great phone.......

I absolutely love this phone. Battery life is great, get 2 solid days out of it easily which is all I got from my 510. Reception is good, voice clarity is great. Love the menus and the color screen. Like to be able to change the wallpaper on it, if I could do that it would have gotten 5 stars. Best phone value available for Verizon right now with the $100 rebate out. This phone will be a big seller.
