Nokia 6235i / 6236i

i know this is an old phone, but i friend got her's wet and gave it to me. i dried it out and it worked but could not be charged. i love how the phone works and would be interested in buying a gently used one. if anyone has the old alltel 6235i, i am a potential buyer.

I am on my 2nd unit showing this behavior: when it rings, I either pull it out of the holster, or start to pick it up from a table, and it immediately goes dark, and in 1-2 seconds I see the icons and info on the display start "coming back" as if it did some kind of recycle, although not a full power recycle. This happens about 20-25% of the time (and always my wife calling since those are about 90% of my incoming calls - she gets kicked into my VoiceMail since I apparently drop off the network, but we have a routine worked out - if she loses the call after about 2 rings, she gives me about a minute to call her ;-)

I thought maybe I was getting a static electricity effect when sliding it out of the holster since the lining on one side see...

I have msgs in my Nokia 6236i phone. The phone had some problems, so verizon has sent me a replacement phone. I was able to backup contacts and media gallery from nokia PCsuite software. but wasn't able to recover my msgs. does anyone have any idea to recover those msgs on my replacement phone??? your help will highly be appreciated..

I noticed there were two user reviews, I wanted to ask those folks or anyone who has this what games come preloaded on the phone. I have the 6255i right now, and love the chic pinball and was hoping something like that would be included with this phone.

My co-worker showed me the memory card slot on this phone. I was wondering what type of card it takes.

I love this phone, had it about 6 months but now the vibrate is sporadic - sometimes it works, sometimes not. While ringing sometimes I can tap the phone against a table and it'll start vibrating again, then it stops working a day or two later. ARgh, just when I thought I'd found the perfect phone!

I downloaded some ringtones, but I cannot seem to be able to assign the to individual contacts. Does any one know how to solve the problem.

I have Verizon, can I put up my own banner? I peronalized the banner but it does not show.

Hi, i have a razr but am looking for something that isn't so fragile feeling. It has stood up to a lot, but feels like it will break every time you open it. Is this the best non-flip handset on the Alltel network? If not, what is? Price is not an object. Also, if anyone has any information on new phones coming out in the next couple of months, that would be very helpful. Thanks 🙂 .

The possibility of getting live traffic info on my phone through google maps prompted me to finally get java working and install it. Works great, even satellite imagery.

Is anyone having problems setting a Picture to a caller ID or setting an mp3 as a ringtone with this phone for Verizon?

I am looking at buying the 6235i because of its mp3 ringtone capabilities. Will someone who has it tell me if I can use the mp3s on my computer as ringtones, and if so, do I have to buy a special data cable?

which data cable does the nokia 6236i take? will it work with any other phone cables? Where is the best place to get the cable? thank-you for any input!

I just got the nokia, and I've been having horrible battery life. Under normal use, two or three short calls, the battery lasts only two days. Is anyone else having this problem. How long are your batteries lasting?

Is there a way to change the shortcut options on the joystick? Right now you press down and it open the browser, up is the camera, right is Apps, and left is send a text message...I want to re-assign these and I can't seem to figure out how..

I am thinking of getting this phone. One thing I was wondering about the display and missed calls. I noticed that it is a color screen and it has a screensaver. I have noticed that with many other color screen phones, the display not only dims, but it completely shuts off after a certain amount of time, and you have to hit a button to turn it back on. I would prefer to just be able to glance at my phone to see if there are any missed calls or voice mails, especially when I'm driving, instead of having to pick it up and "wake it up". Is that possible with this phone?

If so, where is the best place to buy it if I am not ready to renew my contract? Verizon's full retail price is over $200 and that is too much for me.

Does anyone know if the price of this phone will be going down any time soon for Verizon? This would be much appreciated.

Can anyone recommend (or dis-recommend) a headset for this phone? The Verizon website has three options, all of which seem overpriced, and the Nokia site has one or two that are cheaper and look good, but it's hard to tell. The Nokia site shows one headset ("coming soon") that will work both for the phone and the radio. Would this dual headset be useful to have? (I just ordered my phone online so I don't have it yet.)

So ive read the thread and is it true you cant email ringtones to yourself.
If you cant do they at least have real ringtones on get it now so you can at least buy them.
