upgrading from 3589i to 6236i, anyone else do this??

Looking to see if anyone currently had the Nokia 3589i and upgraded to the 6236i???

Do you like it? Is the reception the same or better?? I live on Long Island, New York. I get awesome reception with my 3589i.

How do you like the screen and joystick features on the 6236i compared to the 3589i.

I'm due to upgrade my phone in April and am doing my research now. I like the reviews for the phone, though not crazy to hear about the joystick reviews.

Wondering how the phone compares to the 3589i? I love that phone and am having a hard time giving it up. But I know I need to upgrade cause I want some of the new features. Hopefully someone can reply. Any info on what you like or don't like would be greatly appreciated 😁

Banner and backlight timeout

I have tried to "customize" the banner and it still keeps saying Verizon Wireless on the screen. Also when I change the timeout for the back light from the factory settings of 15 seconds, the change only lasts as long as the phone is turned on. If I turn it off for any reason such as charging it resets back to the 15 seconds. Any one else with this?????? Thanks

vzw b2b site says tri mode?

i just looked the 6236i up on the verizon b2c site and it says the phone is dual mode, as i had thought. but then i looked it up on the b2b site and it's listed as tri mode. is this an error or are they offering two versions, depending on the customer?

Missed call icon

Does anyone find that the missed call icon on the screensaver does not go away, even after checking the missed call?

I have to turn my phone off and on again to get rid of the icon.

6255i vs 6335??

How will it compare with the 6255 flip? I know that the camera and video are the same quality. But what about other features. What games come on this bad boy? And is it as small and thin as it looks?

Two questions: Crippled by Verizon? Analog or not?

Two questions that I consider make-or-break:

1. Analog areas. Some posts have indicated that these phones have no AMPS. Does that mean it won't work where Verizon has only analog service, or analog roaming? (E.g. as of spring 2005, at least, that included parts of Vermont.) Specs at nokiausa.com do indicate "800/1900 MHz CDMA plus AMPS band" but that's the 6235i. I don't see specs there for the 6236i (by the way, what's the difference?)

2. Verizon crippling. Some posts here say that Verizon has crippled this phone.

a) Can I buy one that will work just as well with VZW, but isn't crippled?

b) Are there ways to get around the crippling? For example, user reviews for the Motorola E815 (which apparently is not analog, or I'd be buyi...

6236i with Verizon Wireless

Has anyone had any luck activating a Nokia 6236i with Verizon Wireless? If so, what does Verizon see this phone as when you provide the ESN to them?
