LG VX-8000

I have a regular phone headset-over the ear type (single with the boom) it works good with the 8000 but i thought a double ear set would be better being the phone is stereo,but i have not found one yet,anybody know where to get one? I dont like the ear buds that came with phone,like the comfort of a nice padded set.
Checked Radio Shack,Best Buy and Circuit City and they dont have them but said they have seen them. Thanks

how much does it cost to recieve a ringtone as an e-mail. does it receve as a picture or txt message? thanks

whats the feasibility of drilling tiny holes in the earpiece to increase the volume ?

or trying to make the existing holes bigger?

I used the usb cord that came with the mobile office kit for the 7000 and 6100. Since I have a mac, I didn't need any of the drivers that came with office kit.

i don't know if this has happened to any of you, but i noticed while i was driving on the highway on long island, that the signal was constatnly jumping from 1-4 thne back to 2 and back to 3...ect was it because i was jumping in and out of the ev-do area (manhanten)?? or was it just because this phone does this??

So, here's what you do...
1. Plug in your headphones that came with the 8000.
2. Activate Your Speaker Phone (CLR)
3. Dial whoever you want...
4. Put the flip closed.
5. Once ringing, take out the plug for headphones.
6. Walaa!! You have a speaker phone with flip closed... 😎

do i HAVE to use SnapDial / SnapDialer / Snap dialer for data ?

my old samsung a530 and audiovox 8940 didnt need the software because i could just add it as a modem and connect directly.

no success doing that so far with this. i believe snapdial is just trying to get your money for some simple configuration, but i dont know what that is.

this phone is different in that the cable is usb>serial and so maybe theres some difference there. but i dont see why. windows should see it any differently to any other modem right?

any success initiating data connection witout snapdialer?

btw. no problems using QPST (i.e. the drivers are fine)

I've searched the forums and there were many discussions of vibrate and ring at the same time, but only one mention of vibrate first and then ring a short time later. This is a feature that the Motorola and Samsung phones have and that I've found very useful.

I am thinking of switching to the VX8000 from the Audiovox and am hoping that this capability does exist and that the previous mention was incorrect... 😲

Can someone give a definitive answer to this? Thanks in advance.

there is no low setting for speakerphone.

well there IS a low setting, but it isnt low.

i primarily use speakerphone while im waiting on hold for customer service or something. if you work in a cubicle its too loud to keep it sitting there on speakerphone.

same for vcast ☹️ in a quiet environment its too loud still and gets distored

1) The volume level when you preview a ringtone is not the same level as when you actually receive a cell. Even with master volume set to max. I think they forgot to put a 'call volume' option in the menu and thats whats screwing it up. Any way to fix? One reason i returned my 8940 was the volume level was too low

2) The time of day is not display when you're on a call. This is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine. I cant #*&#*#& stand it when phone companies miss this. There is a HUGE screen with PLENTY of space. Other phones can do it. How the #&*$ did this get through testing. I am considering returning the phone for that reason hoping that they'll fix it. I am NOT happy

3) Speaker phone sometimes says its on when it isnt

Finally a phone * that will let me put a full calling card access number + pin + international number.

now i can have a voice dial for 'mom and dad' in england 🙂

(you have to use the hard pause or 2 second delay for this)

Hi question? does anyone know if when you receive a call and you flip the 8000 open do you have to wait a second like on the 7000? I have the 7000 and love it except for the stupid msg when you flip open the phone and it says answer or ignore??? anyone know? thanks 😉

does anyone know how to delete ringtones that you have already put on the phone. either one that u e-mailed or recorded. thanks

On the handset type in #4357*4357. It says the 8000 is tri mode, 1x, evdo. So is the phone tri mode?

hey guys and girls... i finally got the time to go and pick the phone up. it is very very very awsome. but im trying to get a song from itunes onto the phone. i have read other posts about how to do this but its not working for me, i think i missed a step. what i did was went to the song i wanted, got its info, then changed the start time and stop time and then raised the volume preset a little bit. then i draged the song right over to my email. and renamed it to a .mid but it still said that the file was 5mb. if anyone can give me the correct dirrections it would help me out a lot... thanks 😁

You can make a recording and play it. I assume also play other files you have copied to your phone. Still have not doped this out much. Anyone else know something about it?

This is the message phone shows after recieving a 15 second, 120kb, 64bps mp3 file that has been renamed to .midi I also tried .mid Both have same result. I check the message info and it did not download enough bits to include the song file. So it never got to the phone.

Any suggestions on what I may have done wrong?

Even though CNET review states: "We were pleased that you can change the font size and the backlighting on the external display", I cannot change the font size for anything except for keypad entries. And there appear to be no options whatsoever for external display. Names and numbers coming up on the external display are very, very small. It also does not make sense to me that there is only one size font for directory displays on the internal screen. Has anyone noticed this? Are there any options? (Aside from reading glasses!)

I just noticed my first scratch on the 8000 main screen... kinda ticked off about it...
I just wanted to know if there is a replacement screen I can buy or will there ever be one?
I'm still about 4 days away from my 15 day trial period. Should I just exchange this with a new one? Will they allow me to exchange just because of this reason or should I make something up?
I won't be complaining if this phone were at least 6 months old... but man... after 10 days of use and seeing this scratch... Don't even know where it came from. It usually resides in my pocket...
