any other phones comparable to this one?

My contract is up with Cingular next month and I'm considering jumping ship to Verizon, mostly because my wife has them and wants a joint family plan and her contract isn't up for another year.

This looks like THE phone to have, I'm just wondering if there are as good or better similar non-PDA based phones on the way around the same time frame I might want to look at.

I'm not unhappy with Cingular, I've been with them as Cell One since 1993, but if I can save some dough and make my wife happy, I'm really not too picky. Besides, I like their high speed wireless option which I can install in my in-car PC (at $80 a month... ouch).

Real Price

I hear all of these prospects about the price being about $350-450. Is this price the amount that you would have to pay if you got the phone without a contract? If not, how much would it cost with a 1 or 2 year contract. My contract has ended and I need to know if this phone is out of my price range. Thanks.

Audiovox 9900 vs. V710

🤣

The 9900 thread is claiming the 9900 will be released 4/15 and its already being stocked in the stores. Maybe, possibly, hopefully, could it be, the Moto v710 will not be far behind?

I know there is no correlation but one can hope, right?

bigheadbuddha does v710 have...

bigheadbuddha,
does the v710 have a email client built in like the v600 with AT&T that supports POP3 and IMAP4? It appears that Moto has changed the specs from having emial client to not having client. Any insight on what Verizon and how they will handle POP3 and IMAP4 mail?

Thanks!!

Transfering photos

Assuming for a second that the photos are stored on the trans flash and that they are in some exchangeable format, how do you get the photos off the transflash.

I'm thinking of my RX500 printer that has slots for memory cards, but none of them says anything about trans flash.

"driving mode"?

Will the Motorola V710 have the same "driving mode" function as the LG 4500? That is, can the phone be answered without opening it? The 4500 announces the call, and asks you if you want to answer it, it then allows you to talk [via the headset] without opening the phone. Can you close the phone after initiating a call and not have the call end?

V710 and extended battery and charging cradle compatibility

Hello Group, My name is Brian Carotenuto, and I was wondering about the battery that will be used on the V710 when it is released. I currently use a Motorola T720 through Verizon Wireless and I have the extended battery and charging cradle for my T720. Will my extended battery and cradle work with the hookups on the V710? I would hate to have to go out and purchase everything all over again. I look forward to be hearing from somebody soon.

Thanks again!

Brian

which version of brew? phoenscoop recommendation....

Hello,

I doubt anyone knows which version of brew the phone will be using. But, if you do, excellent.

I think it would be nice if PhoneScoop could tell us such things.

Thanks,
Matt

MSM6100 and realplayer?

From QC's webpage for mobile ASICs,
it appears this phone will use the MSM6100
which adds bluetooth and other things
that previous MSM chips haven't had.

http://www.cdmatech.com/chip_select.jsp »

A couple of weeks ago, QC and Real announced
that Realplayer will be integrated with
MSM6100 mobiles and available 2Q2004.

http://www.qualcomm.com/press/releases/2004/040322_q ... »

How can we check if the phones supposedly
already sitting in storage have the
realplayer capability? This is a crucial
feature for me and it sounds like the phone/chip is capable.

More release date speculation

According to a rep at the VZW store in Manhattan that I talked to today (this is the location in the Verizon building at 42nd & 6th), the v710 IS sitting in the warehouse and was supposed to be released in early May but has been delayed. They have been told first week in May. Someone who posted Memorial Day may be right on target.

e-mail client

AT&T allows direct access to POP3 and IMAP4 e-mail via the e-mail client that is embedded on the V600. It looks like Verizon will require the "get-it-now" service to access POP3 and IMAP4 e-mail since they have removed the e-mail client. It is looking like I will be dropping Verizon for AT&T and the V600.

Updated Pictures on Phonescoop

Hey, they updated the picture of the 710 here at phone-scoop! The screen on the 710 now looks smaller. Cool that it has picture ID. Notice the BlueTooth icon on the on the top right near the middle. I can't wait...
