my reply from vox

I got a very forceful email (thankfully so, as I was equally forceful when I sent them one)and they emphatically said that the 9900 is going to b released by VZW and they gave the example of the Sprint 9950 that they are still doing handsets and will continue to do so. Anyways, thats what they said.

GUYS, THIS IS THE OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE!! I SWEAR TO YOU!!

Its June 1st, 2004. How do I know? I was told by a friend that was a Verizon Employee. He saw it in a Powerpoint presentation file. The cost will also be $229.99 with a 2 year activation.

Guys you can believe me or not but I can assure you that this is the real date. I can only give you my word without people saying where's your source, etc. but please believe me that this is the date.

9900 vs. 7000

IF the 9900 should happen to come out...what do you all suggest between it and the 7000 that is scheduled to come out on the 1st?? I personally am leaning towards the 7000, but i have been hooked on this 9900 for quite some time now.

What do you all think??

aldcon/ecko04

it doesnt matter if even aldcon is right because if he's right and it comes out in mid august, who would want it? We all wanted it back in march/april and I suppose some of us want it now, BUT we're all gonna have 710s and 7000s by mid august so its a moot point.

Audiovox 9900 Availability

I have heard a rumor that VZW corporate stores will not be selling the Audiovox 9900. Availability will likely be through agents.

the 9900 is the best phone of the bunch

I'm suprised that more people aren't on this forum. this phone will have the best looking screen and and it will have a great voice recorder as well as a sleek look. And it will most likely come out first.

braveyoyo?

what are you thinking of getting if the 9900 isn't coming out? to be honest I almost like the vx 7000 better than anything, cause it's got more photo and video storage. and I wouldn't use bluetooth or expansion cards. plus I want a smaller phone than the v710. the fact that it comes out in 5 days doesn't hurt either. what are your thoughts braveyoyo? Your the only one I respect on these forums.

suggestion that u guys should follow

I think if we all email audiovox, I think their email is (voxrightnow@custhelp.com) and say something along the lines of: "I just heard from Verizon that theyre launching video messaging on June 25th with the LG7000 as the launch phone, and that they are scrapping the 9900 because Audiovox got sold and theyre out of the handset business. Is this true?" If enough of us email them w that kinda email, then maybe theyll make some announcement one way or the other on monday. Power in the numbers!!!

It's Official, NO 9990 for messenger launch

Yesterday many of the company stores were in on a conference call with headquarters advising them of the launch of video messenger service. It will start with the LG-7000. The 9900 will NOT be launched on the 25th!

They currently do not have any date scheduled for the 9900 and only will say they have some "issues" with the phone, so don't count on it soon.

This was my phone of choice and I was holding out for it, but looks like it may be a longer hold-out if they do release the phone. I am still hopeful they will release it. My best guess is that the margins are higher on the LG phone and they have a better contract with LG, so it gets to be first then maybe the Motorola and maybe the 9900.

Please don't shoot the messenger, I a...

9900

I'm wondering if Verizon threw in the towel on the 9900. Nobody anywhere knows anything about whether or not this handset is coming anytime soon. No gurus, VZW customer service, retail locations, etc. It has either been seriously delayed for some reason or it is not coming out at all.

My recent conversations with VZW personnel revealed knowledge of the LG7000 being released imminently and the V710 coming "very soon." They have not even heard of the 9900. Is there anybody out there who has any first-hand knowledge of what is going on? Hell, I'd even settle for some second-hand info at this point.

Video Messaging launches the 25th of june

The Audiovox 9900 and the LG VX7000 will be officially launched on the 25th of June with the launch of Verizon video messaging. Seriously. You will believe it when you see it on the 25th.

9900 Versus 8000

Master Dominique you conveniently left out a few issues in your comparison and are off base on others:

1. TRI-MODE vs. dual-mode! That is a VERY important feature and I cannot believe that LG does not pick up on that. They cannot seem to build a tri-mode handset. The fact that the 8000 lacks this critical capability eliminates it from consideration before it even leaves the starting gate. I would never buy a dual- mode phone on a tri-mode network.

2. The 9000 has more than triple the standby time of the 8000 (380 hrs vs. 110 hours).

3. I think the 9900 is more stylish and sleek than the 8000. We have a major difference of opinion here. I think the 8000 looks very boxy and square.

4. I owned a Audiovox 9000 in the past and to thi...

Analog Coverage - Louisiana

Here is a link to Louisiana's Verizon Coverage. The dark green areas are extended analog. What more can I say?

QuickLink Mobile Phonebook

I know i'll probably get in major trouble for this but I figured I would take a shot. I bought this application called QuickLink Mobile, most of you know it comes in the Verizon Mobile Office Kit that retails for $80. It allows you to conviently transfer your entire phonebook to your compute in case you get a new phone and you can write the entire phonebook to the new phone which saves hours off doing it manually. You need the data cable for your phone to do it. Anyway I just bought it and the link for download stays active for 48 hours so you need to get it while its hott!!

Ringtones

Does anyone know if this phone is capable of having ringtones with the actual artist singing the lyrics in the ringtone (MP3 ringtone). I really dont want another phone with the boring MIDI ringtone. Any answer would be helpful. 😁
