4G Upgrade?

I think we can all agree that this phone's only real comparable is the EVO, and laying aside the whole question of whether Sprint is REALLY comparable to VZW (I'm not going to get into that flamewar here), it does beg the question of whether the radio hardware is this phone is, or is going to be with a firmware update, capable of 4G once Verizon really starts rolling out LTE?

I think I read somewhere (maybe AndroidCentral) that this phone is NOT going to have LTE, and not going to be upgradeable to LTE, which, if true, really makes me a bit sad. I know it will be months before LTE reaches the closest major market, and years before it reaches where I live, but it would be nice to know the phone is capable if I do venture into an area with...

GET IT NOW!!!

Hey Guys,

So, I called Verizon everyday to find out about ordering the Droid X. Finally, on July 3rd one of the CSRs allowed me to place the order for my droid X over the phone with her. Now, my X is being shipped and will be here by the 8th!!! Whenever I called back to track my X, the people at Verizon couldn't believe that I was able to order it and that it got shipped. Call Verizon and tell the representative that you want them to order it for you. They do have the ability to place the order. Once it's placed, it will ship with in 2 days! Try it!

Re. Motorola Droid X

I placed my name, along with a $50.00 deposit at Best Buy. Is the cell coming out on the 15th? or today, like I was told? Thank-you.

P.S. Is it worth it, the spec's look great.. 🙂

Voice to Text

A friend of mine has the Incredible and he showed me how you can talk and have the phone write out what you say into a text message. Pretty handy thing to have with all the new cellphone laws while driving. Does anyone know if the X will be able to do this? He just got his Incredible about 2 months ago and I'd love to be able to rub my new X in his face, so it'd be unfortunate if his could do something mine couldn't. XD

Sound Quality (muffled) and number of screens (configurable)

Sound quality: slightly muffled. Would you clarify if this is what you heard (speaker, speaker-phone, headset) or what the other person hears (microphone.)

👀 The reason I ask, is that the Motorola support forums, and my practical experience with the Droid (1 / Classic) is a muffled sound (microphone) heard by the other party. It seems to be user specific in that all of the people (20%-40% of users) who have reported muffled sound, when trying a different (or multiple) Motorola Droids, still had the muffled sound issue. The majority of users (60-80%)are not reporting muffled sound issues. 😲 Motorola has not acknowledged this as an issue; but believes if there is a "muffled perception" it is most likely location specific, ho...

Best Buy Preorder

I preordered mine at Best Buy. Does anyone know if they are receiving them on the July 15th just as Verizon? Or is there a waiting period 4 BB? Also the sales rep said I was six on the list. I figured they should get at least 10. So my chances should be good. Can anyone with knowledge or experience with BB preorders give more insight please?

Played with phone today

😁
Hi all Well I played with the new x for about n hour today at the store. Now before anyone jumps I am probably the most famous VZW customer in my town (no not bragging just I spend lots of time there good friends with the manager) They have one in for the staff to try out.
I have the incredible and have to say this may beat that. The screen is awesome and even brighter than my inc and even a tad faster. It is bigger but just about as thin as the inc. I like OP did not think that the screen size being only a what 3/4 inch more would matter but it is very very nice. We were watching movies on it and I have to say it was sweet.
Having physical buttons (4) on the front is nice as well but 2 of them are reversed as coming from the HTC. I t...

WILL I BE ABLE TO UPGRADE????

My contract expires November of next year and I am the only one on my account so I am eligible to upgrade every year but that isn't until November of this year. Since Verizon is offering anyone that is eligible to upgrade this year to upgrade early to the Droid X will I be able to take advantage of this since I am would be upgrading on the one time a year deal? My other question is would I just pay the 199.99 or 199.99 plus 20.00 or what? Thanks any response is appreciated.

7/15 purchase

Want to get one on 7/15 but don't know best method. Didn't want to go through Best Buy & don't want to experience the iPhone cluster F*#@ sales process.
Any suggestions? Will Verizon do online advance orders? Going to store waste of time unless I'm first 50 customers?
Thanks!

External Antenna on Droid X?

I need an external antenna since I frequently travel in low signal areas. I know that the Droid (without X) has an antenna connector on the back under the battery cover (under a small plastic plug).

Does the Droid X have this connector? Do you know what size/type connector it is? Do you know where I can buy an "antenna adapter cable" for this connector (if there is one)?

Thanks,
Jack

early upgrade: the answer

the promotion currently running with the droid x early upgrade has little to do with the upgrade date. it has more to do with the actual end date of your contract. if your contract ends on or before december 31st 2010 you will be able to upgrade early. the promotion was initially for the droid x only but has since been expanded to all smart phones. again, it is based solely on the end date of your contract, not when you are eligible to upgrade.

Hdmi output on the phone

Does anyone know if the Droid Xs Video output capabilities will include being able to watch Blockbuster rented movies on an external screen ? I asked a Motorola Rep about it the other day, and they were not sure about the answer.

The screen size is big

But how long before manufacturers decide "You know what, people's hands aren't too big to hold a phone with one hand." unless they want phones to become tablets?

Probably not long...
