I am considering moving to the world of the iPhone this winter when my current contract with another provider expires, so I went to an apple store to try one out.

For the most part I really liked what I saw, but one thing that bothered me was the fact that the phones don't seem to like going into landscape mode. Wasn't that one of the big changes to the 3.0 OS?

The Apple store I went to had 3 3G S models and one 3G. None of them would consistantly going into landscape mode. 2 of the "S" models and the 3G running 3.0 would not change at all. The third "S" would do it after a 10~15 second delay. Two of the employees couldn't explain it, and seemed rather embarassed that their demo's weren't working properly.

I was wondering if the Iphone can use the ringtones on the at&t website or not? I am a new user to the device and want to know about ringtones for it.

I'm just got the 3G S and I'm worried about the durability of the screen. I've been playing baseball slugger (awesome) and I notice myself hitting the screen pretty hard when I swing. Will this constant abuse lead to a cracked, loose or flawed screen in anyway? how strong is the screen??? Thanks!!!!

A friend and I went to the Apple store yesterday to check out the 3G S just in case it turned out to be so wonderful that we could not resist upgrading.

There were a few factors that made me consider upgrading. They were...

1. A faster processor
2. Better graphics
3. Better camera
4. Voice commands

Here is what I found regarding each feature.

Faster processor: The added speed is almost unnoticeable during regular non-gaming operation. On the same wifi system my 3G phone performed almost identically with Safari and Google maps. The 3G S might have had a slight edge about 60% of the time but it was so slight you would not notice it if not going head to head. It also lost by the same argin about 40% of the time.

I just got my iPhone 3gs and I tried to add some old south park episodes to it but iTunes won't let me. iTunes says the file type isn't supported by the iPhone. I dl'ed the videos off of limewire so maybe that's the issue. Is there some type of codec or app I can download to watch them? thanks

I just read an article today on google news about the Iphone 3gS having its battery life being drained by the new OS, but i havent read any comlaints on here and was wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if they were how they fixed it. An obsolete chipset in the 3gs limits upload speeds? Isn't it pathetic enough to put the iPhone on AT&T but they have to limit the speed by the hardware? Was this at AT&T's request?

what possibly can the iPhone have when it comes out in 2010? I'm debating on whether to buy the 3Gs now for $400 or wait till next year and get the 4th Generation iPhone for $200 when i'm eligable for the full upgrade. Any speculation?
