Just bought the BlackJack

From the cingular store after reading phenomenal reviews on this page. I am new to smartphones and am too ADD to read the whole manual and go through set up. Is there any good website that will show me how to use the phone in a simple concise way? Any help would be much appreciated. Thnx in aadvance.....

BlackJack vs. 8125 Pocket PC

Does anyone know if the blackjack will offer the ability to edit Excel, powerpoint and word? I think I read somewhere the docs can be viewed? Is the blackjack wifi ready? 🤨

Harsh Reviews

I am wondering why people gave this phone such bad marks on the reviews while also calling it a great phone. 3/5 is 60% which is essentially a D-. I think if you like the phone it should be at least 4/5 right? I don't have it, just curious.

How many contacts can the phone store.

I have not played with the phone myself but a customer told me in the instructions it says the phone stores only 1000 contacts.

Black Jack or Blackberry?

Hello-

I am deciding between the BJ and 8700. I need this phone for work, so I am able to receive and send emails. I was set on the Black Jack, but then a cing. rep. told me that only a blackberry notifies you of a email. Other phones you need to go to the email setting and check. Any input would be appreciated since this will be my first smart phone.
thanks!

Blackjack Features Vs Treo 650

Alright I am in a bit of a pickle here ha. I have a treo 650 right now, but I really like the ascetics of the new BlackJack, but I cant quite commit to wanting it 100% without asking a few questions. These might seem like stupid questions to some, but little things like this matter to me when it comes to cell phones. Can the background on the main screen be changed to my liking, pictures and so forth? How easy is it to upload say pictures from my computer, is it like Hoysync with the treo, just plug and boom? As far as MP3's as ringtones, do I have to download anything special, any programs or anything in order to set those tones like the treo? And does it use an SD card for outside storage as well, or is it a different format? Is the phoneb...

HELP!! blackjack audio issues

when you turn on the blackjack, the audio is amazing. the sound it automatically makes when it powers on and off is LOUD and in STEREO. Yet when i play a song, it isn't very loud and certainly isn't in stereo. the instruction manual is really not very good. any ideas? have i missed a setting or what?

I also can't figure out how to play a song over my bluetooth either.

Having a problem with internet enabled java apps.

I just got this phone, and right away, I tried installing some normal java apps such as the gmail one and was in for a rude surprise, they either don't work or are continuously interrupted with prompts.

I tried Gmail, Goodle maps, and Opera mini and for all of them, java keeps asking whether the app running should be allowed to connect to the internet. There is no way to disable this prompt and gmail tries a few times then gives up, while the other ones seem to run, but the prompts are really annoying.

The other thing that pissed me off was the subscription price Cingular is trying to make you pay because it's a "PDA" phone instead of a "Smartphone". The price difference is staggering while my usage is probably no different.

headphones

What is the deal with stereo media output for this phone? It's got Media Player, but how do you get the sound out (not in mono) if there's no jack? I'd like to use it as an mp3 player with regular headphones (and an adapter, if it exists?).

blackjack or unlocked e61

Ok, so provided I can get an E61 to do everything I want on Cingular (Wifi, 3G broadband speed & services, etc), should I get with the Nokia (I have only owned Nokias) or the Samsung Bjack? Little iffy on the Samsung products, but might be willing to take a chance. Willing to make concessions b/n the linux platform and the Win Mobile.

Thanks folks.

BlackJack vs Treo 680

I've been waiting for the Treo 680 for sometime as I really need a smartphone now. Besides the size of the BlackJack, what would be the advantage over the 680

BlackJack PIE browser loads a blank page for every site *sometimes*

For some reason the internet on PIE, after a day or so of working just starts loading a blank page... email etc still works, as I continue to receive push email via outlook. I reboot the phone and all is well until another day or so. I formatted the phone, loaded 0 3rd party software... but still the same problem. I attempted to remove the cingular proxy but it just made everything EXTREMELY slow.. even with new DNS server entered. I think I'm gonna return it, as I haven't ever encountered this problem with any of my pda phones.

Anyone else ran into this problem?
