Nokia N75

I recently unlocked, unbranded, and updated the software of my Nokia N75 to:

Shortly after that, I keep receiving a few of these mysterious text messages a day. When I try to open them, the phone says:

Unable to open.
Message format not
supported.

The Inbox listed them as:

302 0
Mobile Email OZMAIL CI=7b217f...

When I highlight a message (newest one), select Options and Message details, it shows:

Message details:

From: 302 0
Subject: Mobile Email OZ...
Date: 11/06/2007
Time: 8:21 PM
Type: Text message

Has anyone else had trouble with the Nokia Music Manager recognizing music files on their computer?

Anytime I try "Scan PC for music files" it cannot find/recognize any music I have on my computer.

Even when I tell it to scan the file directory where I keep all my music, it still comes up with 0 files.

I don't know if this is and issue with it recognizing my iTunes files or what.

If anyone knows a way around this, or how to solve it, I'd love to hear.

It'd really suck to have a phone that I can use as a music player and not have it able to upload any of my music.

Is this Better than the battery came w/ the phone?

There is a recent review about the N75 on phonescoop by someone who obvisously has never used a S60 device. This phone is only for the real cellphone fanatics. If your knowledge base is low on S60 operationing system I suggest you get a razr v3 or a S40 device. The N75 is for the big dawgs! Who agrees or disagrees?

I have Media Net and would like to find out if unbranding the phone would affect Media Net access. Thank you so much.

Sorry if this is a very basic function, or known issue.. New N75 user and first Symbian phone. I've got the voice command and voice tag thing fairly well down in my head, but I just can't figure out how to tell the phone to dial a number? I don't mean by name, etc.. just a plain number e.g. 211-555-1212 ... I've also hit the "multiple address book entry" or only dial the default issue.. figured the only answer there is just separate entries (tell me someone is working on this - please). Is there a way to just voice dial an area code and phone number like on just about any other voice activated phone? Many thanks.

so i'm not sure if this is known or not, but on the cingular (att) branded n75 i found the navigator app (GPS program). was not aware at all that this phone had it. i could not find it under apps or even the file manager. the way i found it was when I was changing the apps for the Active Idle Screen, Navigator was listed. however, it looks like you need to purchase a standalone bluetooth gps receiver for it. anyone know or think that there is a hidden gps receiver in the phone that is waiting to unleash itself with a new firmware upgrade????

I was an early user of the N75 and really wanted to like it but call quality was flaky along with several other issues. Was wondering if there's been a firmware upgrade ... what is the current firmware version being shipped?

Is it just me or is anyone else having issues with the battery cover? I slid off the cover to take the battery out so that I could do a power cycling. Someone suggested I try this to clear the "network busy" message I occasionally get. When I go to put the battery cover back, the cover will not lock into place on the bottom left hand corner of the N75. The cover looks like it allows the clip that locks the cover in place, but when I attempt to see that the cover is secure, it falls off. Does anyone know how to properly secure it in place? I noticed that when I was at the AT&T store the sales rep had the same issue when I first purchased the phone but then she got it to lock. This is the first time I opened it so hopefully it's ...

So my friends and I were messing around tonight, and I decided to put a number lock on my phone so they couldn't **** with it too much. It told me to enter lock code.

I enter "9999" (yeah.. I know, not much of a lock).

"Reenter lock code"...

"9999".

"Code Rejected"... "enter PUK code"

"00000000" (Just guessed, probably extremely stupid move)

"Enter unlock code"...

I go through this about 10 times before it starts telling me "SmartChip Rejected". I can't do anything now. I haven't bought insurance for the phone yet (just bought it last week, have 30 days to buy it), and I seriously don't want to get my head bitten off by my mom so I don't want to tell her. Last Saturday I got "Network Busy" when I tried to make a call and am getting it tonight. I read a few forums that suggest doing a power cycling. Is that just powering down the phone and then boot it up again?

Does anyone know what software for N75 will play .wmv files. I have a bunch of my movies already converted for my last phone. Thanks Dan

For an AT&T branded phone, the Device Software version is v10.1.282. For a Cingular branded phone, the Device Software is v10.1.273. I just got my new branded AT&T phone today.

For those interested, the camera quality is still the same, grainy pictures. The differences in both versions are not that different. The AT&T flows a little bit better when scrolling through, there is little to no lag time. I also like the theme better on the AT&T one.

Why is it that when I dial a number it is still there the next time I open up the phone? Even if it's 2 hours later, the number is still there at the bottom of the screen. When I check my email, my passcode is visible the next time I open the phone.

I don't like the loud audio noise when I power on/off the phone. Can't find any way to disable it.

I finally noticed that the AT&T version can do data and voice much better than the Cingular branded version. On the cingular N75 it cuts the data off, which was annoying. Also my phone does not get that hot anymore. Yesterday I got 6 hours of heavy usage. I used Cingular video, made phone calls, played music, used the nokia web browser, media net, etc.. I will let you know from my log how much data was transmitted. I also suggest that you ask warranty exchange for a new battery because the one that ships with the phone is defective. I only got 2 hours or less with the battery shipped with the phone. When I got the BL-4B battery it worked much better. Please let me know if you do warranty exchange and what happens.
