Re: Release date on SCH-A610

That was useful. If you go to this site, there are a couple of interesting things of note: 1) There is a contest you can enter to win the verizon only a610. Phones will be awarded on Dec 14th. 2) The verizon users manual is posted which probably means they are very very close. If I had to guess, I'd say it couldn't be later than 12/14 unless Verizon runs into additional problems qualifying the phone on their network.

Sprint GSM Service
by knighthawke    Dec 4, 2003, 11:26 PM

Has anyone tried the Sprint GSM service? I saw the GSM and PDC phones. I was wondering if I can use any GSM phones that are available on the public market. Before you tell me that Sprint doesn't have GSM, they do have GSM. In fact they also sell GSM phones as well. Here is the link. http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/Page.js p?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1467421&CURRENT_USER%3C%3E ATR_SCID=ECOMM&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_PCode=None&CU RRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_cartState=group&bmUID=10705855 13662 Sprint GSM is mainly for people who travel abroad but I was talking to a CSR and you can use it while you are in the States. Since I haven't seen any posts about Sprint GSm I was wondering if anyone out there is using the service. The charge for international roaming is $6/month plus the charge per minute, per country. You can buy a Sprint GSM/PDC Phone or you can lease it. Yes the GSM phones they use smart cards. The CSR was trying to tell me that The techs at the store are the only ones that can insert the cards. So if you have this service let me know what you think. Note: Some of the Sprint GSM phones do not have internet access and/or will not work in the US So far some of the models that Sprint is selling for the GSM Network is. I forgot to mention when you activate anykey answer in the extra settings menu, you have to deactivete "active folder" for the pic ID to work on the internal display. Apparently having both "active folder" and "anykey answer" checked the active folder will overide the other. (Active folder settng answers call automaticly when the flip is opened )
