mmm ok bud. Two posts ago you stated the numbers for me... $40 for sprint's phone as modem plan is more then the $20 or whatever they charge for powervision and I'm still kinda confused about how cingular is charging for tether access... but we agree that they have different plans for tethering blackberries, correct? Their data plans are kinda confusing, but statements like: "Note: Customers who wish to tether with their PDA device and have an unlimited PDA data plan will need to upgrade their rate plan to a Data Connect Plan for Laptops. Unlimited Data Connect Plans for PDA do not include tethering capabilities and may incur additional charges." directly from cingular's website: https://supportcingular.atgnow.com/cng/r esultDisplay.do?page=http%3A%2F%2Fsupportcingular. atgnow.com%2Fcng%2Ftutorials%2FKB70855.html&result =0&responseid=194f808068ab42cc%3A35998f%3A10e851af b1c%3A596f&groupid=1&contextid=18851%3A11.66&clust erName=CingularCluster&doctype=1000&excerpt=Enabli ng+the+wireless+modem+on+the+Cingular+3100+%2F+312 5#Goto11 So yes, Sprint may offer cheaper service then verizon for the ADDITIONAL service that tethering is, but they still require more expensive features then you would w/o tether. But whatever you seem to be a little thick on this subject. Yes, tethering uses more data then normal pda usage would, so you are paying for the additional usage and additional access point. No, Verizon does not disable their entire handset line up besides the blackberry for tethering, if you even read my previous post I listed 10+ phones off the top of my head that are tetherable. Yes, Verizon may be more expensive then it's competitors, and I think that is your only real point in this thread.

so if you flash your phone, will that void the warentee with cingular, if you need to have it serviced or replaced? what is the draw back to having the media net stuff? what are complete working themes? full mp3 ringtones, does that mean that the cell will ring and play the full length of the song when someone calls? it would be nice to be able to delete the junk pix and tones they put on it. thanks for any light you can shed on these questions.

warranty: it probably will void the warranty but if it truly does break or die they probably won't even know. you are not making any physical changes to the phone (opening it up, etc.) just a software update. media net: the dedicated media net key is now a shortcut key. no more accidentally bumping the button and jumping on the web themes: orbit, equalizer, and others create different icons in the menus. very cool looking. way better than the standard ones cingular makes you use. here's a video of the menu with the equalizer theme: http://www.mobile-review.com/review/image/sonyeric /w810/video/se810-3.wmv if you google orbit theme you should see some screenshots of the orbit menu. mp3 ringtones: yes, plays the full song (until it goes to voicemail). no longer have to edit the song down. just open your music folder and tell the phone to use it as a ringtone. great for assigning a certain song to certain callers or groups. and yes, you delete all of the junk pics and ringtones (except one). thank god because i hated it when i put my walkman on shuffle all and the stupid ringtones would start playing.
