mjh said: I think carriers should unlock the phones... All phone ESN's should be in all compatible networks... Offer a discount for a specific contract term, or pay full price and be able to port the phone.. Not hid behild smoke and mirrors.. As a note... The phones could be ported if the carriers would allow it... Or, the government would mandate it... I have recieved refurbished phones with data from various competitive carriers to Verizon that were flashed to Verizons software... A call to Verizon Management confirms that a 3rd party company takes Sprints, Verizons and other smaller carriers CDMA, EVDO, 1X phones.. Repairs them.. Flashes to whomever's software and sends it to that carrier... It is getting much harder to move a Verizon handset from carrier to carrier. All new Verizon phones will have their proprietary user interface and firmware burned into the phones BIOS. The contracts might as well be for the life of the phone. To move a Verizon phone to another CDMA carrier you need to fully flex the phone. A simple flash won't do it anymore, and you are still stuck with several VZW logos on the front, back and inside cases. Also, Motorola won't unbrand a phone. What is the name of the 3rd party company takes Sprints, Verizons and other smaller carriers CDMA, EVDO, 1X phones.. http://www.canyouhearusnow.net/action

Re: Real song ringtones???

Here's one way 1. Create the MP3 clip you want to make into a ringer 2. Establish a connection between your computer and your phone, either by bluetooth or by usb cable. 3. Using Bitpim(just Google for it) enter the filesystem of the phone and navigate the directory in this order: Brew -> 16452 -> lk -> mr. 4. Right click on mr and choose "new file." Then in the dialog box that pops up, locate the ringtone that you made, make sure to change the extension of the MP3 to .mid, and click ok. The first time you do this you will most likely get an error, just do it again and it should work. 5. After the rington has been written to the phone you need to erase the my_ringtone.dat and my_ringtonesize.dat files which can be found under the "dload" directory. Simply delete these files and power cycle the phone. Note: This method will only allow you to have a few ringtones based on their size. There are more in depth explanations elsewhere on this forum. If your computer doesn't have bluetooth just spend the 10 or 12 bucks on eBay to get a data cable. It'll pay for itself once you've added all the ringtones you want.

yeahright said: ...and if you do have a quality loss does that mean i get loss of quality when i convert my itunes to aac to burn on a cd? Seems about the same to me. iTunes downloads are already AAC. And you can burn any music format to CD without converting it... you just have to make sure that your playback device understands that format.

Your customer stories never cease to amuse and delight me. I don't know the bars out in Idaho, so unfortunately I can't give any advice about bars in your location. I can however recommend a few good bars in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Whenever you come and visit, feel free to use me...as a resource.
