Free WAP/ Free Mobile Browsing Instructions

Here are some instructions for setting up your own WAP server on your PC. Now, all you need is a bit of resourcefulness (P2P) to get the Nowwap program. The link is for obtaining the Nowwap 30 day trial version or for instructions if you do not have a router. For the record, I did not create this I merely found this on another site and it worked for me. http://www.nowwap.com/documentation/#Instal lation 1.) Install and Run Now Wap Instructions are based on you having a router. Change your internal IP address to a static IP address, otherwise everytime you restart your PC DHCP will assign your PC a new IP address and of course your NowWap server will not work. 2.) In Win XP goto the following: Network Connections, Left- click on Local Area Connection, On the left side of that window some information should show up, displaying your computer's IP address, usually it's something like '192.168.0.3' or something similar (keep this window open for reference). Now, right click 'Local Area Connection', and click 'Properties', then Click on "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)' and then 'Properties'. Click on 'Use the following IP address', we are going to enter an IP address similar to the IP address you are already using, only changing the last 3 numbers to '115', you can pick any number between 100-215 really, we're just trying to avoid bumping into a dynamically allocated IP. Now enter the same subnet mask as the previous window showed you, usually '255.255.255.0', the gateway and Prefered DNS should be your address, with a "1" as the last number, like "192.168.0.1". Now Click ok, and hopefully, you'll still be able to connect to the internet, if not, something went wrong, and go back to the inital settings. 3.) Now that we have a static IP, we need to change the router settings to forward our 'Now.WAP' HTTP port to our computer. To access the router settings, most of the time you can just use a web browser, like so: http://192.168.0.1 (or your router's IP), please refer to your router's manual if this doesn't work. Once you get to the router settings, you need to find a tab, or setting, related to "Port Forwarding". It will ask for an IP address to forward to, which will be your new IP address of your computer we just setup, in this case, "192.168.0.110", and it will ask for a port, use "8080", if it has a range of ports option, just put "8080" in both. You may needto click on "Enable" to activate that specific port setting. Now, Click on "apply" or "done" or something like that to apply the settings, and that should do it for that. Now to setup Now.WAP. 4.) Open NowWAP Gateway Service Tab-> Click on "run as a service" HTTP Tab->Enable the first 4 options. And enter "8080" as the HTTP Proxy Port. Now set your IPs on your phone. (Goto www.whatismyip.com and that is the IP you put in your phone) Primary Port is 8080 Secondary Port is 9201 5.) Make sure NowWap Gateway is running and try to access WAP with your phone. If everything works, you should see information show up under the Service tab of NowWAP Gateway. NOTE: Once you check Run as a Service, you can close it and it will run in the background until you reboot the PC.

You can use the wait and pause commands for voicemail or any other stored phone number. i'll explain the voicemail because the stored phone number is the same but easier since you don't need to know the navigation of finding the voicemail number setup: go to message center/message settings. Select "voicemail no." for me, I have to dial *86 to access my voicemail. after the *86 I insert a then my access code. you could also use a or two instead of a but sometimes that doesn't work for me. a pause command waits about 2-4 seconds then sends the tones selected after the pause. a wait command waits for you to press okay before sending the tones. Anyway, when ready to enter the wait or pause command, press the menu button and select the appropriate command. then enter your access code. now that it is set up the way you want it, anytime you call your voicemail by going to messages/voicemail/call it will automatically have your access code entered. Same thing with regular stored location. When entered properly, you number should be similar to this: *86w###### NOTE: do not enter a "w" or a "p" on your own. You must select the option through the menu. Sorry if this is confusing. I wanted to respond right away and I'm just about finsihed with a long day at work so I'm a little distracted. Let me know if you have more questions.

freedomrep said: I also talked to my Vzw rep. and yes if you wanna leave Vzw you can!No ETF! No you cannot come back 2morow and get a new act. pricing on equipment! yes, you can port your # anywhere and NO we will not waive the fee to keep you! Your acct will remain in standby for 6 mo's so you can come back. Also, just so everyone understands this fee has been being covered by Vzw for years. The US govt charges larger co. a tax that is used to pay for things like internet in schools and libraries things like that. So this is where the .40 is going to it's not going to our CEO or anything like that. Other companies have been charging this fee to their customers for years so I guess it's about time we caught I for one will not be canceling so that I can continue to enjoy great coverage and awesome cs! This is not a tax. It is a charge that VZW has decided to add. The taxes and fees charged to VZW by the government are passed on to customers and are listed on your bill as are the charges that VZW voluntarily decides to place on consumers. Don't try to pass this off as something that the Gov. is charging VZW. Monthly charges 99.47 Usage charges .00 Verizon Wireless surcharges and other charges and credits 7.87 Taxes, governmental surcharges and fees 4.42 The above is straight from a billing summary as are the comments below. Verizon Wireless will begin assessing an "Administrative Charge" of $0.40 per line per month on October 1, 2005. This charge will help defray certain costs we incur, currently including: (i) fees and assessments on network facilities and services, (ii) charges we, or our agents, pay local telephone companies for delivering calls from our customers to their customers, and (iii) certain costs and charges associated with proceedings related to new cell site construction. The sum of Verizon Wireless' Regulatory Charge ($0.05 per line per month) and Administrative Charge will still be the lowest of such charges among national wireless carriers. The Administrative Charge, and what's included, is subject to change from time to time, and we will notify you if the charge increases. Please note that this is a Verizon Wireless Charge, not a tax that we are required to collect from you. For more information about this charge, visit www.verizonwireless.com or call 1-888-684-1888. Please consult your Customer Agreement for information about rate changes.

Okay. In my reply I used little brackets to designate wait and pause commands and the words in the brackets were deleted in the actual post. Sorry if my original reply made absolutely no sense at all. Here's the copy, paste, rewrite: You can use the wait and pause commands for voicemail or any other stored phone number. i'll explain the voicemail because the stored phone number has the same functionality but is easier to set up since you don't need to know the navigation of finding the voicemail number setup: go to message center/message settings. For me, I have to dial *86 to access my voicemail. after the *86 I insert a (wait) then my access code. you could also use a (pause) or two instead of a (wait) but sometimes that doesn't work for me. a pause command pauses about 2-4 seconds then sends the tones selected after the pause. a wait command waits for you to press okay before sending the tones. Anyway, when ready to enter the wait or pause command, press the menu button and select the appropriate command. then enter your access code. now that it is set up the way you want it, anytime you call your voicemail by going to messages/voicemail/call it will automatically have your access code entered. Same thing with regular stored location. When entered properly, your number should be similar to this: *86w123456 (or whatever your pin code is) NOTE: do not enter a "w" or a "p" on your own. You must select the wait or pause option through the menu. Sorry if this is confusing. I wanted to respond right away and I'm just about finished with a long day at work so I'm a little distracted.
