re: Best digital coverage in MN

😁 I don't suppose I could luck out that anyone else here would be from MN and able to tell me who specifically has the best coverage in MN? I don't want VZW though, I've been through them and t-mobile and want to switch to a better coverage area- ie have service outside in my backyard in the middle of the Twin Cities/reps who actually show you phones you might like. i have sprint currently for work, and i like it, but am still open for suggestions.

SONY ERICSSON HBH-660

Can anyone out there tell me if this would work with a v710? I like the bluetooth headset idea not to keen on the actual style of the headset or the one with the extending arm they both seem kinda awkward.

Wireless Modem and Connect Speeds

I am about to upgrade my wireless phone to use as a modem and connect to the internet using a date cable. I currently have cingular wireless (but not under a contract). Cingular tells me they have upgraded their network in my area to GSM and that with a GSM phone such as the Motorola V400 or 600 or Sony/Ericson T637 and a data connect cable, I will be able to log on to the internet using my ISP at "very fast speeds." Also they say the only charge will be a $3.99 monthly fee and I will be using my regular minutes of talk time.

Has anyone had success doing this?

How fast are the connection speeds?

Is there a better way to do this or a better carrier that I should look at?

Thanks!

What is the PLMN threshold before switching networks? Can it be modified?

On GSM you have a PLMN list that tells your phone the order of networks to connect to. (Home network listed first and networks with high roaming rates listed after-wards)

Once Cingular acquires ATTWS they plan to put ATTWS as the first network after Cingular.

My question is "Can you lower the threshold on a particular PLMN entry so that it would more readily switch to the next entry in the list"?

I often hear "well I will have 1 bar of service on Cingular and then it will go to No Service, then jump to full service on Cingular Extend, then six minutes later it will change back to 1 bar of Cingular service".

It's concerning me because unless they can lower the threshold, it may not matter if they remove the LAC restrictions and a...

Palm Treo 600

i had a customer come in wanting to upgrade to that phone and he wanted to be able to use the web and email sometimes with it. my sup told him that he would need to have an unlimited data package with the phone so that he can use it because the treo periodically connects to the email server and web without the user's knowledge. he didn't really want to do that. what i want to know could he disable the device so that the phone won't be able to connect automatically or not. my sup said theres no way to disable it from automatically connecting or not?

thank you

Java Issue

Is it just me or does it seem the whole java based platform is buggy?

Well, anyways, has anyone come across the trouble of a phone not being able to d/l anything java? Wife has an LG C1300 and the phone has been working great up until a couple of days ago... It can d/l everything except Java apps or more importantly games... I have tried everything I could think of from troubleshooting the phone itself to setting up a quick WAP server, I also tried sending a Push Message to the phone... None of which seem to work... I'm starting to rule it off as a problem w/ phone but I wanted to check if anyone has ever come across this...

BTW: What the phone does when trying to d/l java is in the middle of d/l the screen it flashes black for a min, ...

2 Phones - 1 Slim, 1 Smarrt

For years, cell phones kept shrinking until most were pocket-sized. However, about 3 years ago, they stopped shrinking, and in some cases even got a little fatter. This weight gain has affected even today*s basic models. Virtually every phone available in the US today is larger in volume than, say, the Nokia 8310 of 2002. The culprits are large color screens, cameras, and other jazzy features.

Many consumers love the latest features, but there is a significant cadre of users out there who would welcome a thinner object in their pockets and might sacrifice all but basic phone functionality to have a stylish device of half the thickness and half the weight. For such a device to remain useable as a phone, the basic form factors should ...

Unlocked 3595

I managed to unlock my 3595 from ATT wireless. It doesn't matter what SIM card I put in the phone, whether it be ATT or Cingular, either way the phone reads "no signal". If I have the Cingular card in the menu item that allows me to switch carriers network disappears, if the ATT card is in the phone the menu item returns but says "No system access" when I try to select a carrier.

Does anyone have a clue what is happening here?

Memory full!!

I have a nokia3650 one year old, and last time it said 'memory full, delete some date', and then it shut off. Reseting wont improve it, since it displays the same message at startup, and thus would not load, so that its impossible for me to delete some data!

Could someone help me please... I'm very attached to my phone and it cost a lot!
