What is a GSM system and what does it do? Is it some kind of tracking system that allows logging my location if the phone is turned on?

HELP!! Advice on unlocking Motorola mox220

😳
Does anyone have any idea how to get a """Made for Cingular""" Motorola mpx220 unlocked?? I have tried a ton of web sites and none of them see to be able to unlock this phone when it comes down to the time when you pay for it ... they just say "temporarily out of stock". Can anyone help? I am willing to pay to have this done!! I am currently a T-Mobile customer!

*.sit file & Moto

I haven't had any experience with a Motorola and a *.sit file. I acquired this file as a "solution" to the disabled DUN profile via BT. I've scrutinized every bit of the file and it seems legit, I could not find any malicious code.

Question being i'm still rather cautious before loading it up on my phone and wanted to know if anyone has had experiences with this... Success or Failure?

Also, those that have had Success... What would be the best way to load it up on the phone? Not necessarily the easiest, but the most reliable.

Thanks in advance.

Cingular Blackberry 7290 on T-Mobile

I bought a Cingular 7290 and put my t-mobile chip into the phone and everything seemed to work fine. However, the phone periodically goes on the fritz.

What happens is during a call at some point the person on the other end of the phone cannot hear me. I can hear them, but they cannot hear me.

Cingular has sent me 2 new phones. Same problem with both phones. At first I thought the problem was with my bluetooth headset, but eventually I realized it happens without the headset too.

Is there something in the phone that would make it work with one carrier and not the other? The phone is unlocked.

Thanks for any help.

Phone to Phone Calendar Sync - Is this possible?

I'm looking for a technology/piece of software/phone/carrier/something!!!, that will synchronize a phones calendar to another phones calendar.

They can be the same kind of phone.

I just want calendar sync'ing, phone to phone, without overwriting whats on each calendar. Just appending.

And the capability to edit those calendar entries on one phone and it updates on the other phone. This could happen either by bluetooth or by some kind of cell transmission.

Help! Cell phones have been out too long for this not to be prominent. Can somebody explain, why we're just scratching the surface of this now?

Super 3G?!?!?!

Read this article today. Thought it was interesting.

The world's 26 major mobile phone operators and telecommunication equipment makers have agreed to work on a global standard for a super fast mobile transmission technology, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily reported, without quoting sources.

The group includes NTT DoCoMo (NYSE: DCM) and NEC (Nasdaq: NIPNY) of Japan, Britain's Vodafone Group PLC, U.S. cell phone carrier Cingular , Alcatel of France and Siemens (NYSE: SI) of Germany, the newspaper said.

Using the new technology called Super 3G , the group plans to launch by 2009 global services for transmitting large volumes of moving images by mobile phones at a speed 10 times faster than the current 3G (third-genera...

FluidFocus Camera Lens for Mobile Phones

I read an interesting article in my IEEE Spectrum magazine that discussed a new optic technology that uses a thin layer of oil over a camera lens and passes an electrical current over the fluid to change the shape of the lens from convex to concave. This type of lens provides optical zoom capabilities compared to the digital zoom that is on camera phones today. Previously, optical zoom wasn't an option because the lenses would be too large to achieve the proper focal length. This new type of lens isn't any larger that the current optics found on todays camera phones. In my opinion, even with megapixel camera phones I still think that low picture quality is a result of poor optics. This is an ingenious engineering and I am looking forwar...

Treo 600 that works with GSM card in Europe

Can anyone confirm that, in Europe, a Treo 600 will work with a SIM card purchased in Europe?

Specifically, a Verizon offered Treo 600 using a SIM card from France? I'm told from a reliable source that all you do, once in Europe, is install any SIM card and the phone will work.

I thought the Samsung A790 was the only phone that would work with both CDMA and a SIM card.
