JD Power and Consumer Reports are the 2 most respectable, independant research and testing companies for major consumer products, from cars to cell phones. And both came up with the same result. And the results show VZW good consistently, year after year, city after city. So far, whatever Cingular's spending to improve is either not enough, or is not being used effectively.
I have nothing against Verizon, I used to use them and plan to use them again soon (alongside my Cingular service). However, I have everything against a Verizon fanboy that pulls sh!t from his ass and posts it on here and expects people not to call him on it.
I never once said that any major survey showed Cingular as number one, so that means absolutely nothing in your argument as to "who looks stupid".
He posted that five different major and credible research/analytical companies rated Verizon as the best. Yet he provided no information to back it up, and failed to do so even when called on it.
I don't know where you learned math, but two is not five no matter how you look ...

Maverick did overstate it, but the point remains: Cingular consistently just does not seem to do very well in national surveys of things like call quality or customer service. Verizon does.
The most common counterpoint I've heard to this from the Cingular camp is a bunch of whining/anger/cynicism that the companies doing the rating are "biased" or "bought off" somehow. Or personal attacks against those bringing up said surveys. Not very constructive thin...

I would like you to show me anywhere on these forums that I've made statements that you claim I have. I would also like you to look at the phone I currently use. The z500. It isn't about cool phones to me, it's about the service. Cingular works better in Western Pennsylvania. Period.

However, making up a number and just throwing it out there is totally unnecessary. Okay, we get the idea that Verizon is good, but it starts to make even Verizon look bad when you have to lie about it. I think we all know Verizon is formiddable competition to any wireless carrier, without exaggerating the numbers.

I just said, "who looks stupid". I didn't really think he looked stupid as he was just trying to make a point. I know 5 isn't 2. I thought he was implying that if he found 5 surveys with the same result, it would make no difference to you.
I didn't make up the JD Power report. I just put the link there for people to use it as they wish. If they wish to ignore it, find. If you have personal experience with the companies in the areas where you use your phone, that should tell you which carrier is best for you; for those who can't afford to, or don't have time, to test out the diff. companies...

It would make no difference to me if he did indeed find five surveys? No it wouldn't, because I already know that Verizon is a great company that provides great service, so five more surveys aren't going to change my perception of the company in the least.

I'll admit something, I'm not rooting for anyone. I do appreciate the service that Cingular is providing me, and at least I can admit the Verizon is a formidable company.
I don't play favorites, especially not over wireless companies.
However Mercedes jumped on the guy with insults. Mercedes called the man an ass because he (Mercedes) thought he knew what he was talking about when he accused Cingular of being cheap in retaliation. Mercedes, I'm sure has enough self control to just ignore somebody that is clearly trying to start something. At least the other guy didn't fill his posts with insult to somebody's intelligence and name calling, when he himself didn't know the true information (because he obviously didn't).

I think a lot of Cingy folk are probably scratching their heads and trying to figure out what went wrong. Just a few months ago, they were basking in that post-merger glow, had had that one really monster quarter, had all the media attention and hype... a lot of them really started buying into the notion that the market was now going to be theirs to own.
Then... BOOM! VZW spanks them for a couple of quarters, plus shows them what a REALLY low churn rate looks like, and the Big Orange boosters finally find out that its really the same old Cing...

You need to click that link and read it again.
Cingular only scored poorly in 2 regions.
The West- which is really weird because Tmobile uses/shares Cingular's network in the west. But somehow Tmobile scored really well.
North Central- which they tied with everyone else except 2.
In either case, Cingular is spending 6.2 Billion before the end of 2005 on improving it's network so we'll see what happens with that.

The math I used is my own personnel experience with a sub-par company called cingular. The company I experience is not worth a damn, and all my friends and family have had similar experiences. If that wasn’t enough my entire company has left suckular for verizon so they can make a friggin phone call and conduct business, So IMO the company suxs.I have not cared in the past nor will care in the future what you think.
