Phone choices

Why can't ATT have a pretty decent phone like the Samsung Alias like Verizon. I like the flip phone and then the full key board. The phones ATT currently have don't thrill me at all. Do they have anything new coming up?

xperia x10??

Has anyone started using this phone since it came out on at&t?? Is the lack of multitouch that much of an issue? Any other feedback?

Question about prepaid SIM card

Does anyone know whether AT&T will sell a prepaid SIM card to a foreigner visiting the United States that will include data? I've had one rep tell me yes, and another told me no.

Thanks.

AT&T thinks most are stupid

I just saw a commercial from them that states they think data is so important and everyone should be able to get it they made it more affordable. Plans start at 15 a month. Great if you don't use data that they think is so important that much. As if you do its not so affordable. And the old rate is much better.

Iphone 3gs problems after 4.0 sortware upgrade

Im having some issues that i never had before, with my iphone 3gs, after this new software upgrade. Here is a list of them:

The tethering option in the settings looks like it constantly trying to connect to something. I can turn it off. I tried even restoring the phone, and it doesn't do anything

Visual Voice-mail is unavailable. It really never worked right from day 1. Tried hard re-set, tried resetting the network settings..nothing seems to work.

Pages are freezing to the point I have to rest the phone.

When I dial out to a number, there is a 15-20 sec silence before i hear the other phone ringing.

What can I do? Is there a solution? Is this an AT&T problem or Apple? Any help would be great?

Cheap phone advice

[de-lurk]

Hello all.

The wife's birthday is coming up, and she's been complaining recently about her D407 getting fuzzy & scratchy on calls - plus, it's just time for a new phone.

The criteria:

- Cheap; I'm on AT&T ERP, so it's got to be a phone that would be reasonable at the no-contract price, or relatively cheap unlocked. I'm not above getting a Go-phone if there's a phone worth having.

- Bluetooth; I live in WA, where it's illegal to drive & talk without a headset.

- Syncs with contacts/calendar via Bluetooth or USB.

- GPS/Nav would be nice to have, but not a requirement.

As far as I know, the old RAZR V3 meets the first 3 criteria, and can be found (new) quite cheap, but I'd rather get her something newer.

Report: AT&T Mobility to surpass Verizon Wireless as top carrier in Q2 2011

August 10 2010 - 1:07 pm ET | Dan Meyer | RCR Wireless News

IE Market Research Corp. released a report predicting AT&T Mobility (T) would surpass Verizon Wireless (VZ) in total subscribers during the second quarter of 2011 and that the AT&T Mobility will post the highest earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization results among domestic operators by 2014.

The Canadian-based research firm said it expects the U.S. wireless market to top 365 million connections by the end of 2014 with AT&T Mobility securing an industry leading 127 million mobile subscriber connections or 34.8% market share. Verizon Wireless is forecast to count about 118.7 million customers or 32.5% market share at the end of 2014, while the firm said i...

75% of the U.S. covered with LTE by April 2012,. . .not by AT&T

AT&T just pockets $$$ and pays their greedy stock holders, whereas as Verizon is actually agreessive with next gen networks.

iPhone 4 with 4.0.1

I got my iphone a few weeks back and then updated the software to 4.0.1. I know they talked about the signal strength would go down but it shouldn't affect calls being dropped. I seam to be dropping more calls since the update and finding I have no signal at all at times. I live in South Florida and AT&T service is very good. Anybody else noticing the same issues? Otherwise the phone is great.

Captivate/Android questions

1. I tried to save my contacts to my sim card before I moved it from my bold 9700 to the captivate. I wasn't aware that all my contacts would be uploaded to the phone through google. For some reason I can only assign contacts pictures if they were uploaded by google, I can't take my contacts saved to my sim card and put a custom picture on it. So my question would be, how can I get my "google" contacts back on the phone (as I deleted A-E)?

2. I'm also having issues changing ring tones. Every time I go into "settings", "sounds and display" then go to "notification ringtone" it will allow me to change the notification tone, however it doesn't specify whether I'm changing the alert tone for an e-mail or a text message. I would a...

I need an ap for that

I just got a new iPhone and am looking for a simple spreadsheet ap to keep track of budgets and finances.

Want to be able to add and delete lines, resize columns, and add numbers.

I do not want to link to on line accounts.

I am willing to pay for an ap that fits my needs. Any suggestions?
