The Circuit City Syndrome

This is what happens when a company just simply ceases to exist.

With 10 years of inside knowledge I know firsthand that this company is in danger of collapse. From the moment former CEO Jack Rooney stepped down and past away this company has been mis-managed and is a shell of what it once was.

It once was a respected place to work and I enjoyed working there. It is no longer respected and is simply disregarded as any threat from it's competitors.

Several of the values that were once very highly regarded from the "Dynamic Organization" still remain, but remain only on paper and are not practiced anymore. Trust and empowerment are two of the big ones that remain only on paper.

I quit on the company around 2 years ago but remain...

CO SELLS ALMOST ALL STOCK

CFO Steve Campbell sold his stock. All tech positions and greeter positions have been cut. It doesn't take a genius to realize what's going on here. Your thoughts?

USCC=sinking ship

does anybody else think that u.s cellular is a sinking ship? after all, they upgraded to a craptastic operating system that not only gets your billing incorrect but constantly says that your past due as well. they lost 71000 subscribers in one quarter alone. they still have problems with orders not processing properly and now they are cutting paychecks by implementing a new commission structure. what are your thoughts? personally, I believe this company is a sinking ship and with the implementation of the new billing system, they've just struck the iceberg.

Anything getting better?

Left the company back in August or so and it was a nightmare. It was understandable that customers were PISSED with a capital TO HELL WITH YOU GUYS. I know my store really cared, and was very empathetic but, it got too outta control for me. My sales mgr & mgr seemed to be trying their hardest to keep the peace and help out where they could. But, there was no way it was enough.

Think he took off even, I think? Anyway, how are things going? I'm asking to customers and associates a like. Luckily I haven't had to call in and hold for 45 mins lately. I've actually been sending my payments in. 🙂 And my Electrify is doing very well. But, I know small towns like ours makes it a pain in the rear. Especially when everyone knows each ot...

US Cellular=Epic Fail

I heard from a couple of friends that the inventory position is going bye bye. This is a company that is on the verge of collapse. The company is barely surviving. Their tagline should be "US Cellular, where failure is always an option" 🤣 I've heard nothing but horror stories about their new billing system. Their billing system is an epic failure and from what it sounds like, they are shifting the blame on to the associates telling them they just aren't trying hard enough. One friend said it's pretty hard to sell value when you keep raising your prices and she's right. Value is supposed to mean getting a good deal. You get a lot for a little is the definition of value. However, in US Cellular's warped mindset, value means paying...

I just started at us cellular 2 weeks ago and...

They have never given me any idea of what to be making in commotion I have searched for it on their sites but can not find a thing on the structure of it. Can anyone help. The average person has 15adds and 2 connected devices at my store what would be the monthly commotion? How is it laid out?

On a side note is it worth it???
I just started and I hate every single day I have been there. It is ridiculous. Every time I observed a transaction for a customer the manager has had to apologize and issue a credit to their account 90% of all the customers that come in want to pay a bill than are upset because the bill system messed up there stuff. Every time I have watched an interaction the tops system freezes or gets stuck and is always slow....

5000 points

US Cellular used to deliver the ICE, Ideal Customer Experience, now they only deliver the cold shoulder, unless you are adding a line or starting a new account. Every time I visit my local store I wait forever and then get someone who obviously dose not care. 5000 loyalty points is not bad if you do not mind paying the extra bill they sent you that no one is able to explain , or do anything about. If you can find anyone who cares enough to try to explain it. Call customer service and extend the bad joke with a two hour wait time just to get hung up on. Do like we are doing, start the New Year with some new phones and a new carrier.

State of US Cellular

I'm curious as to why the posts & comments abruptly ended as of October 31?? With all the confusion due to billing and general lack of understanding from a company stand point one would think this forum would be huge. I personally dont see how USCC can continue over the next 3-5 years. Losing customers hand over fist is no way to build a brand.

As a former employee at a corpoate retail location its mind boggling they are still going. Last i heard a standard wait time is around 2-3 hours! Crazy & glad i'm out of there.

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS PLAce

Working for U.S. Cellular has been the worst professional experience of my life. This company consistently makes decisions that not only negatively impacts its own customers; they are clearly not having all that positive an impact on its bottom line. For example, the company discontinued all sorts of programs that help to build brand loyalty, then increased/ created fees for almost every action a customer makes and still... they have poor business results.

The managers that are left at this org are, for the most part, scared for their jobs and incompetent ( a dangerous combination).

Our point of sale system is a complete disaster and these clowns and liars that call themselves leaders are nothing but a group of overpaid slow/poor dec...

Possible Class Action Lawsuit???

Since US Cellular had the "one and done" plans, but then decided to eliminate it later and go back to contracts, do you think that the customers who signed up because of this will have a class action lawsuit?

Service down....

We woke up Sunday morn to no service in our area. zip 27814. (On the bright side, nobody's phones went off in church). This is a predominately uscellular market.

Monday, still no service. If we drive a couple miles over we will pick up a different tower and can make calls. The last time this happened I did just that, called customer service, and then just had a laughable conversation something like:
Me: We don't have service in our area anymore.
Them: But you are talking on your phone now.
Me: I know but that's because I had to drive to a different area.
Them: But your phone is working so we can't help you.

This went back and forth for awhile. I finally decided they were doing this on purpose, nobody can be this stupid.

Poetic Justice

So let's look at US Cellular and see what has happened in the last few years. I believe in 2010 the politically correct Carlson family, who owns TDS which owns US Cellular, hired a woman with no experience in wireless to run their cellular business. She had a lot of experience doing commercials for another politically correct corporation-McDonald's and all their "urban/hip hop" geared commercials. That was all she needed to get hired. So she created some gimmicks like the Belief Project with points, one and done contracts, battery swap, online pay discount, etc. Now they have taken those selling points away from customers in a "bait and switch" type deal. Customers are very angry as a result. She also fired the engineering techs and n...

Buyout?

Does anything think US Cellular is ripe for a buyout? Their flop of a billing system sure seems like that's where it's all leading to. I think they expected the billing system to save the company, but turns out it's destroying the company. I'm thinking their best bet is to sell now before they lose all their customers. Anyone else?

Anyone think TOPS

Is going smoothly? Wow, talk about a hot mess. So far it's been a total disaster. And from what I've heard so far, I don't see anything good coming out of TOPS vs CARES. Seems like it's a giant step backwards. I don't know what they were thinking. This conversion could be the beginning of the end of this company. ☹️

Stick it to Walmart

I have been wondering for a couple of years now, if Mary Dillion is on the board of directors for Target stores, why have US Cellular not been available at Target stores? Do you think it's because she doesn't believe in the product and doesn't want to stick Target with a dying brand?

Pending changes coming at USCC

One and done is over, if you get subsidized equipment you get a contact.
$35 restocking fee.
End of auto pay discount.
They might as well change their name to 'just like all the other big guys' but without the benefits of a true nation wide carrier..
Everything that set them apart is gone.. For me it's kinda sad.. I was with them for a long time, had enough kool aid to kill a horse, and unfortunately I too was force feeding it to reps for years, all for naught.
