Successor to my Streak?
I've been following the Note with interest as it is very similar in overall size as my Streak while gaining a little screen size. I'm not sure about the pen, I doubt I'll use it much. The 4x3 screen is a little odd in today's 16x9 market but I don't know if that will have any impact on my usage.
As for the size of 5"+ devices, you get used to it quickly, I can't imagine returning to ...
Dell Streak in stores?
Does anyone know if the Streak will be available in AT&T or other stores at some point? The local store says "maybe but not sure". I would like to get it as my upgrade and not pay $550 for it sight unseen.
I know it runs 1.6, but that doesn't really bother me, and I hear that 2.1 is being pushed out over the air now anyway.
Anyone have this or seen it in the flesh? Opinions?
Thanks
Re: Scratches galore..
You can polish plastic, each time will remove a small amount of material but if you are doing it by hand you would be unlikely to do any real damage without really overdoing it. It depends on how abrasive your compound is of course
When I worked at a guitar factory we had to wear plastic safety glasses and we would buff scratches off them on the same high speed buffing wheels that we did the guitars on... it ...
Re: Lg 8500
If you have the updated firmware (v4 I think) it can be set to only need 1 push of the button. You need to go to VZW for this update. If you have a speakerphone you have it already. Look in settings for a security menu, probably in there. I am not with my choco to be any more specific.
Re: 2.5mm headphones
they are cheap little foam covered earbuds, I hate them also. I usually use a set of Shure E2c with my iPod, but I have yet to get them to work with the choco. The whole experience has pretty much ruined the hope for using the choco as a iPod-lite.
VZW lists an 2.5 to 3.5 adapter on their accessory list but I haven't seen one in real life
Re: 2.5mm headphones
The MEK kit includes headphones. Not the best ones but they do work with no adapter issues.
Re: Phone Case for the LG-VX8500. Any Preferences? ? ?
Sorry guys, I don't know how to post pics in this forum. I will email as soon as I remember to take a few pics. Here is another attempt at explaining it.
It is simple once you get it, the Verizon case has two clear plastic pieces; one over the screen and one over the touch sensitive buttons. I just cut the one covering the touch buttons out with a razor blade to allow direct ...
Re: Phone Case for the LG-VX8500. Any Preferences? ? ?
the bottom half of the phone says in the case, and since the case is totally open on the top end, the top half of the phone slides up and sticks partially out of the case when I open it. It isn't perfect, but it does allow access to the keys through the hole that I cut to access the touch keys.
Cutting out the plastic doesn't seem to affect the case at all. I've been ...
Re: sigh stupid usb
I use a card reader anyway, the usb connection is incredibly slow for me.
Re: Chocolate touch keys and sensitivity
DOn't know if it will last yet. but it seems fine so far.
As to the touch keys hitting your face, they are not active during a call.
Re: Phone Case for the LG-VX8500. Any Preferences? ? ?
I bought a case from Verizon with the phone. However it had a clear plastic cover over the touch buttons, which rendered them almost impossible to operate.
A little exacto knife surgery and now I have a case that fits perfectly, has all the right openings, and even allows the phone to slide open if I want to use the keys, although the screen is slightly obscured at that point. The top slides out of the ...
Re: Basic Question for New Chocolate Phone
According to manual it supports these types of profiles: HSP, HPP, DUN, OPP, A2DP, and AVRCP.
so far I have had limited success with it's bluetooth, it won't hold a connection with the headset I had laying around (GN Netcom 6210) but I haven't tried any more modern or common sets.
I got the headset to work on a RAZR however so it may have been my limited bluetooth knowledge. I should try it again on the Chocolate.
Re: lg chocolate II (korea)
That Chocolate II is pretty sweet looking with the featureless front. I still like my US Choco but had hoped it would come out here looking more like the Korean Choco II.
Re: Basic Question for New Chocolate Phone
If you are trying to transfer alot of music to a card use a card reader. The data cable is really slow. I don't know the exact rate, but it takes 20-30sec per song. My card reader takes 10-20sec per album at most.
Another annoyance is that if you get a call or text during transfer, the transfer stops and I have yet to see it reconnect.
I think the headset came in the essentials ...
Re: 2.5mm headphones
the Verizon setup sounds ok. I don't like that style of phones but I have been trying to give them a chance. If I don't try to use it like my iPod I can live with them. The advantage of not having to use a pair of adapters makes them easy to carry. If they had an output that I could use in my truck I would probably stick with them also. The ...
Re: 2.5mm headphones
I think that there are adapters that will work fine with and without mic, the issue is that the plug layout on the input end (male) must be designed to fit a jack with microphone.
As far as I can know you can tell this by whether the plugs has two or three painted rings on it. Standard stereo plugs without a mic only have two rings, the plugs with mics have three rings. If you look at ...
Re: 2.5mm headphones
sounds like the same functions as the Verizon piece. I posted a link to something like that in this thread somewhere.
Re: 2.5mm headphones
this adapter looks like it has the correct 2.5mm plug layout. no mic though

the headphones included from verizon plug directly into the data port and include a mic and a end/answer button.
Re: 2.5mm headphones
Those pairs are 3.5mm plugs (1/8")
Re: 2.5mm headphones
I googled "2.5mm headphones" and I think I have found several other solutions.
1)Looks like adapters are made for PDA's and Pocket PC's that will do the job. SOme even include a mic or answer call function.
2) there are some headphones made for PDA's that have 2.5mm plugs. I don't know what type of sound quality they deliver. I have been spoiled by my Shure earplugs and don't want to revert to a lesser pair unless I ...
Re: 2.5mm headphones
Oh, I forgot to say that even if you get a better set of headphones to work, the phone can't drive them well anyway and you don't get much volume. I have tried Shure e2c and Sony ex71 earplugs and there just isn't quite enough power.
Re: 2.5mm headphones
there is a complication with using standard 2.5mm plug headphones. The jack on the adapter is not a stereo only jack, it is also a mic jack.
If you look at it, a stereo headset/mic plug has three sections mic (nearest the tip I think) and the usual left and right channel rings.
The effect is that the location of the stereo channels is moved back one step on the plug. I bought an 3/32(2.4mm) to 1/8(3.5mm) ...
Re: Q aim client???
so does it work for the Q?
Re: Rumor Regarding WIFI
Not a Q owner yet, still deciding on it, but if wifi capability is added I might have to go ahead with it. I am almost always around a wifi network, at home or work, and I would love the ability to use the Q on it.
Re: Q aim client???
I am still deciding on my need for a Q so I don't know if the Q can do Get It Now, but I think there is a Get It Now AIM client called Mobile IM that treats each IM sent and received as a text.
It was free on my current phone. It will eat up your text allowance (if your plan has one).
Re: Will this work for me?
if you find an online calendar you can all just access it and modify as needed. It's not as elegant or easy to use, since opening the website often will raise your data usage, but it might work. Couldn't be cookie-based I'd guess.
Maybe one of the calendar plug-in modules for a Google home page might allow you all to access and modify a daily calendar. Not as cool as what you might be able to accomplish ...
Re: MP3 on the phone.....
As to programs converting mp3s - I like dbPower Amp, the basic is free, but I think I had to buy it in order to do batch conversions. It'll do a variety of format conversions.
Wavepad is another conversion program that comes to mind.
If you want to get really into it, you can edit and construct your mp3 ringtones with "Audacity", also free. Google it. I've made dozens of ringtones from my mp3s and other files. ...
