So, I got the software update. The only difference I could find is the mp3 player is either nonfunctional or somehow integrated into the wma player. The mp3 tracks that I had on the phone are now available in the my music menu. If there are any other changes to the phone, I did not notice them

Can anyone give me a good reason to keep my music essentials kit? I use a card reader to put music on, I e-mail myself ringtones and Bitpim apparently does not support this phone.

load ringtones via usb?

Is there a way to get ringers ono the phone w/out sending via e-mail. I cant seem to make a 30 second MP3 clip shorter than 350 kb without it sounding real bad. Bitpim does not support the 8300, and I think that the actual sending of the clip compromises the quality. If anyone has an idea for good conversion settings so that the file is small but the quality decent, that'd be cool. Thanks y'all.

OK, they hesitated but gave me a new 8300. Speakers are as bad if not worse. Even at half volume, the speakerphone crackles and buzzes. The 8100 never had this problem. Two lemons in a row? Anyone ever hear of a bad batch? I'm really not that picky, but this is my sixth phone in less than three weeks. Maybe my old samsung a890 spoiled me.

Yeah, that sucks. I hope they will replace it, too bad there is nothing else that is an adequate replacement.

After having the 8300 for less than 12 hours I seem to have blown out the speakers. It all started with Ringtone #6 which had lots of static. I tried the speakerphone phone and it's even worse. I thow an MP3 on there and it's nearly unlistenable. W.T.F?!?!?! Otherwise, I love it. Do I just have a lemon?

Thank you for your response. It is a mono mp3 from a song using bitpim. I did use a usb cable to get it on there. Do you have any idea how much memory I can dedicate to ringtones?

Download and open BitPim. on the left side click on ringers from the dropdown menu, this opens the screen with the preloaded sounds. Click on "Add Ringer" (music note w/ a + sign) Open a music file (mp3 or .wav) The default conversion setting for bitrate is 32. I upped it to 40 'cause it sounds better. Hit "Convert". The clipping is self explanitory, 20-30 secs. is best. Hit OK, wait. Your new ringer is saved to BitPim. With ...

Thanks Mary424, these are the directions I followed from the Bitpim online help site. I don't really see a way to do it without the card in the phone.............................. 1. On the miniSD card, create a subdir called ringers 2. Copy your ringtone files to the ringers subdir. 3. Insert the card back into the phone and start BitPim. 4. Retrieve Ringtone data from the phone: ...

my ringtones won't stay on phone

I finally figured out how to make ringtones and get them on my phone using BitPim. Problem is every time it shuts off, it comes back on with none of the ringers available. They remain on the card, but the phone no longer sees them. Can someone help me to load them onto the actual phone memory? Also, my phone tends to randomly shut down. is this a normal error for the 8100? Thank you for ...

Can I make playlists for "My MP3s"?
Jun 1, 2006, 4:29 AM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

So I enabled the mp3 player on the phone, but the only way to get files on there is one at a time. If I try to copy over a folder full of songs i.e. an album, nothing shows up on the My mp3 menu. If I put all the songs I want on the card, is there then a way to separate playlists? (I have, but don't fully understand Bitpim) if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Can someone please help me? When I put my mp3s onto the microSD card in the "motorola->shared->audio" folder, with my sd card reader/writer,they transfer and show up fine. I just got the a950, not sure what I think. Does anyone know of a way to configure the phone to accept my personal WMA music files as ringtones? If not does the Moto e815 perhaps support that? A950 vs E815? Any opinions? THANKS!
