Re: 8100 price drop!
According to some VZW stores in the NY Metro area, they are selling more 815's than they are 8100's. I guess being the center of the economic world can determine which phone is worth more...
Re: 8100 price drop!
You may think it sucks... but if you know anything about economics... the higher the demand, the more people are willing to pay for it. In effect, if people are in more of a demand for the 815 it makes sense for VZW to charge more for it, its more $$ for them. Unlike the 8100 which lost its glory about a month after its premier, the 815 has taken center stage. Than you should ask yourself, why is ...
Re: Price Increase for better phone
That is exactly what VZW has come to realize. The 815 is in more demand than the 8100 and to increase their profit, they have increased the price for the 815 and lowered the price for the 8100 to move inventory.
Re: 8100 price drop!
It's because VZW has realized that the E815 is a better phone and is in more demand than the 8100 and they can get a larger profit if they increase the price for the 815 than the 8100 because the 8100 isnt wanted as much as the 815... It's all about the $$

Re: E815 Northeast reception question
Hey PeterD,
When I said it was Dual Mode, I was referring to the two Digital Modes verses the Tri-Mode Phones (2 Digital, 1 Analog).
It seems that due to the EV-DO it isnt possible for them to make the E815 a tri-mide phone.
The "Extended Digital Area" was pretty good on the drive up through Maine, as I mentioned previously some parts on 95 the signal would be reduced to 1 bar or no signal, but it wasn't for ...
Re: E815 Northeast reception question
This past weekend I was in Millinocket, ME and surprisingly had service when I was at the top of the campsite's, I was kind of hesitant about it, because the E815 is my first dual mode phone, but it got service and I was pleasantly pleased with it.
There are several spots on 95 where you will get little or no service passed Bangor. But they shouldn't last longer than 20 miles or so...
