It's because VZW has realized that the E815 is a better phone and is in more demand than the 8100 and they can get a larger profit if they increase the price for the 815 than the 8100 because the 8100 isnt wanted as much as the 815... It's all about the $$

Yeah, vendors *always* drop the price on something that sells well, and *raise* the price on stuff thay can't unload.

I've been to two Verizon stores, and several 815s were sold to people looking at both.

Whether you think it sucks or not, the sales people told me that they sell a lot more of them than the 8100.

It probably doesn't hurt that PC magazine gave them a good rating and didn't care for the 8100 quite as much.

If somebody actually *knows* what the logic is, I'd like to hear it.

we sell more 8100's than 815's here, and now with the price change i am guessing that will only double.

According to some VZW stores in the NY Metro area, they are selling more 815's than they are 8100's. I guess being the center of the economic world can determine which phone is worth more...

You may think it sucks... but if you know anything about economics... the higher the demand, the more people are willing to pay for it. In effect, if people are in more of a demand for the 815 it makes sense for VZW to charge more for it, its more $$ for them. Unlike the 8100 which lost its glory about a month after its premier, the 815 has taken center stage. Than you should ask yourself, why is the 815 more in demand? Well because its a superior phone in many ways. 1) Reception - whats a phone to you if you cant get a good stable connection. 2) You can actually use those MP3 songs you have on your external card as ringers... try that on the 8100... These are just two amongst many other superior things the 815 has over the 8100...

They probably dropped the price because they're 'hot phone is a piece of s**t. I was told by a VZW tech there is an abundance of refurbished phones because of returns. He said a lot of people dumped the 8100 for the 815. There's big demand now because of so many problems. He said people are skeptical about the phone because of the lies coming from VZW and LG. Hey, how many phones have you guys gone thru? Me, 3 software updates and 2 new phones since update. There are BT and some volume problems still, but as always, nobody will admit to them. I refused to update my last phone and so far it's working great. I guarantee you it will be gone shortly. With all the software problems, lets see how long it takes for a970 to launch. But knowing VZW g...
