They are quoted as it being 'exciting' but 'not enough' is your interpretation. As I reader I come in to this article thinking the OS isn't enough for the consumer when in actuality the Sprint spokesperson is referring to RIM not being able to regain it's original foothold. This is misleading. As a smarthphone user (who is clearly who this article is directed to, given that the topic is BlackBerry 10 and that it is exciting, ...
Re: Not what I mean
No. All postpaid services require a credit check with AT&T. If you are low-income in one of the qualifying states, you may be eligible for the Lifeline & Link Up program: http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/article s-resources/community-support/lifeline-link-u p.jsp

Re: H vs. 3G
It stands for HSPA. Do you have an Android or Windows Mobile device? It usually means you are connected to a cell site that may only be at UMTS speeds if it just says 3G. If it says H you are connected at around 1.8 - 7.2 mbps theoretical. Depending on what phone it is, 3G just may mean that your phone is 3G available but not using data, and H refers to using data.

Re: Because they don't have a choice
That's your response? Just "no"? Howabout some proof to back it up? Thickjake is precisely correct.
What's up now
BB Torch, Sony Xperia, Dell Streak... who needs the iPhone anyways. And we had exclusive on it for just long enough for it to become just another contender. Our network is had become a beast, we're pacing to be the #1 customer base carrier again...it's over baby. Suck it VZW.
Re: AT&T > Verizon Acquisition?!
If I were a betting man, I'd put money on you hearing rumors about the completion of the Alltel divestitures to AT&T. To get the Alltel/VZW merger approved by the FCC, VZW had to give up some assets in certain areas to AT&T. AT&T just completed this transition. You can read about it here: http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pi d=4800&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=30889
Re: Wow, has this site really deteriorated to post like this?
asiatic1982 said: Whatever happened to when people would actually post valuable information on this site - anymore its completely ridiculous items like this and flame wars. Phonescoop has officially become the "highscool" of cell phone forums. Couldn't agree more. I rarely come here anymore, there is so much misinformation it makes me sick. If you want quality information it's all about howardforumms, BGR, or crackberry forums.
Re: CLUELESS: Is At&t legally blonde?
Looks like we have a regular financial analyst here. This would be a great post - if you were a third grader trying to type coherent sentences on the internet for the first time. Do me a favor: google "paragraph" and learn how to break your post into separate thoughts instead of rambling.
Re: the iPhone is far from Perfect!
If the humidity is high enough to turn the LDI red, then it is high enough to get liquid in the internals of the phone and possibly damage it. I don't even know why I'm posting in this forum anymore...everyone in here is so damn clueless it makes me feel sad to be a part of the human race.
Question about the iPhone
I don't know if anyone's asked this yet, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows when Verizon will be getting the iPhone? Thanks.
Re: Yep, BS...
Because Phone Scoop is such an amazing community of geniuses, right? This forum is a joke, and you are on some high horse thinking you know everything wireless. Over 90% of the threads on here are full of demented speculation or outright lies from salespeople who think we'll believe any bs that comes out of their mouth. I think Scott Herman deserves a pretty decent commendation for at least having proper grammar for once.
6 months to pay Early Termination Fee?
Has anyone heard about any sort of regulation where customers have 6 months to pay off an Early Termination Fee with no late fees? I have heard multiple people (employees and customers alike) talk about this, however in searching through official company rules and on the internet at the FCC website I was able to find no such thing. Anyone ever heard this? Have any official documentation?

Re: The Hypocrisy
Anxio, did you mean slower than EVDO? AT&T EDGE is capable of over 200 kbps, whereas Verizon's 1XRTT data is capable of 153, real world speeds around 50-100. Verizon's 2G is slower than AT&Ts. Verizon's 3G is slower than AT&Ts. Falling back on EDGE really isn't that bad. You still get decent speeds.

The Motorola Motus is rumored to be our first. Here it is on engadet: http://mobile.engadget.com/2009/12/09/mot orola-motus-atandt-rumor-gains-momentum/
Re: Never mind.
The Storm 9530 and 9550 both have GSM 850/1900 which can be used on AT&T's network.
Re: All Verizon has to do
Far less than 1% of AT&T's customer base is affected by this. I don't think spending millions of dollars on an ad campaign that affects off-network users in a rural area that Verizon probably doesn't even service either is very effective. But I forgot you never had a formal education, so I guess that explains it.
Re: All Verizon has to do
VZW611LA said: Huh? What does activating service in a Roaming area have to do with what I said? But, for Verizon, you can activate service in a Roaming area. You won't have a local number, but you can do manual programing. No big deal. I would love for someone official from VZW to see you saying this. This is a huge no no for all telcos. The company has to pay for every minute, text, and kilobyte of roaming ...
Re: Any Help is Appreciated
I like how much all the VZW fanboys swear by android now. 6 months ago you would have all trashed it in favor of BBOS.
Re: Never mind.
Did it really help a lot genius? Don't you think Verizon is smart enough to ask RIM to give CDMA priority over the GSM bands to reduce issues? I guess not.
That is true. You win this round Azeron.
Re: 3 out of 4 are....
bluecoyote said: Look at their profit margins- they're evaporating into nothing. If you follow the market trends, this is the same death spiral the ubiquitous RAZR had. Evaporating into nothing is a ridiculous statement. RIM still has a very decent share value and a good hold on the market. Take a look at historical stock values on Motorola and RIM, they are not following suit.
Re: In defense of the headline
Something I think people have been overlooking about this app is something that AT&T's network team can't test: people's perception of the network. Drive tests and other independent network tests conducted for AT&T show dropped call rates and other network failures continue to fall, yet on forums and blogs people continue to bash the network. With this application, AT&T can compare people's perceptions of what is happening with what their real reports are giving them.
Re: They're just balancing out....
Engadget has always been known to have wise*** remarks on their headlines, seems like PS is trying to do the same thing.
I completely agree.
I'm usually impressed with Phonescoop's professional, unbiased ways of reporting articles. This is disappointing. Customers don't HAVE to do this, no one is forcing them. It's simply giving them more options.

Renewals require a 24 month agreement, but you can add new lines at 0, 12, or 24 month agreements.
I heard rumors it was coming out next week.
Re: Just bought a never-opened LG 8300 on eBay.
The 8300 is so cheap on ebay because that's the current market price, or in layman's terms, that's the most someone's willing to pay for it. Most Telcos don't mark the retail prices up that much from what they get from the manufacturer. If any part of the price is "artificial", then it's primarily coming from the manufacturer.

DonM said: Do you know how RIM got Blackberry? Blackberry infringed on their patents. Thank you so much for bringing up my favorite example! Just to clear up your quote, I take it what you are referring to is the lawsuit between NTP, INC (a patent holding company) and RIM. RIM has always owned BlackBerry. They never "got" BlackBerry from anyone but themselves. NTP claimed that the BES and BIS infringed on their patents, and sued ...
The problem with Klausner, from what I have seen, (and please someone correct me if I'm wrong), is that they seem to just be holding the patents for the sole purpose of suing people who use them and make them pay royalties for their use. That is just unethical. If you have a patent, I believe you should be obligated to use the patent and bring your product to market. Klausner has had the patent since ...
Re: Anybody wonder why ATT and Verizon prices practically the same?
In all fairness, the original post was weak and his two points are in no way related. And please enlighten me as to when anti-trust suits broke up AT&T five separate times.
weedo said: I agree with you on some parts, but lets get serious about why AT&T has the iphone. Verizon didn't want to bend over backwards and give apple a high percentage of each data plans they sell with the iphone like at&t does now. This is a myth. Apple never approached VZW with the iPhone at first.
Good job. If you had read the rest of the thread you would have seen we already talked about this.
