Well they can't guarantee the service if they didn't do a complete install themselves with new everything. /S Its annoying, I agree. I ran a 100ft cat6 cable from my house to guest house, worked fine, no issues etc...DirecTV wouldn't use it for the network connection between some of the new dvr's...they insisted they would have to run that line themselves; couldn't use mine. Re: Battery Life: S5 vs. Note3
May 1, 2014, 12:51 AM
in the Samsung Galaxy S5 (CDMA) / Galaxy S5 Sport forum

I've owned both (currently the s5) and battery life on the note 3 will be a bit better (not a lot better, just a little) but the trade off is the note is a VERY LARGE phone and while its easy to see that off hand, its another to live with it...it proved to be too big for me.

I have yet to find any issues with it at this point, other than not being able to get an otterbox for it that HAS an otter box screen protector in it...Verizon sells ones without and OB doesn't offer on their site yet. Battery life has been outstanding though I am still able to easily drain it by 3-4 pm on a busy day (for me though, that's GOOD, I've had phones in the past that would be dead ...

I have it and so far its the best moto droid yet, by a long shot. As for the android install on it, it's as close to pure android as you can get without going with a nexus or "google experience device" neither one of which is offered on Verizon (at least, no "new'ish" ones anyway, still the OG nexus, but if you prefer 2-3 year old hardware, be my guest). The bloat is on everything on all carriers ...

Re: Please tell me for once mobile hotspot works on these new moto devices?

in the Motorola Droid Maxx forum

Love it so far...only issue is Verizon (intentionally) broke portable WiFi hotspot from working (it enabled the hotspot for free without having to root). That and with volume up it emits a loud zap when you put it on a wireless charger...wish it didn't as I need to allow my phone to ring when I'm sleeping (can't silence it; work) but the loud zap wakes the wife. Bad thinking on Moto's part there. Otherwise good. I had the s4 and aside ...

A) its not the app...unless the included Verizon mobile hotspot app is the one your referring to. Foxfi has never worked for me for free WiFi hotspot. Not sure why it always gets recommended. The app I primarily use is portable WiFi hotspot (which as of today I now know it does not work on the maxx, picked it up this morning). B) I can't afford to go share everything...last month alone I used 17gbs...work that out for monthly cost on ...

No, that's not it...but thanks. Verizon does charge more, but there are also several apps that don't require root to enable hotspot for free. I'm using one on my current samsung and it works fine. Regardless on all previous phones I've had (RAZR, RAZR Maxx and RAZR Maxx HD) I've tried it both the app route and the route of actually paying verizon an additional $30/month on top of my grandfathered unlimited data plan...didn't work right on ANY of ...

Please tell me for once mobile hotspot works on these new moto devices?
Aug 15, 2013, 1:15 PM
in the Motorola Droid Maxx forum

I've owned the RAZR, RAZR MAXX and RAZR MAXX HD and not one of them functioned properly with mobile hotspot. Devices could connect to them every time, but couldn't connect to the internet / transfer data most of the time and if they could, usually it was so slow it was unusable. Maybe 15%-20% of the time it functioned properly, the other 80%, useless. I'm REALLY hoping this has been fixed in the new line of Moto's. I can't ...

qi wireless charging?

I just got the note 2 on Verizon and it looks as though the back plate is already qi wireless charging ready...? I haven't been able to actually place it on a charging pad yet to verify but is this the case? Do the Verizon models come with it?

Re: Reset of phone because of built in battery?
Feb 8, 2012, 2:33 PM
in the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX forum

No problems with it at all and I've had droids since they began coming out...At first with droids I did have to pull the battery a lot (but I also had to with Palms and Windows phones before Droids)...Since the Bionic though it's been pretty rare that I've had to. I did have one razr that had issues (VZW replaced it) and I had to do it on that one a few times, even then it didn't have a ...

Anyone get the 2.3.6 OTA update yet?

I've been reading since early this morning that this is being pushed out to phones now, but I have yet to see it on mine...anyone else get it yet (besides the leaked version)?

Re: Reset of phone because of built in battery?

in the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX forum

I've had the RAZR and now the RAZR Maxx...I've had no problems doing a reset using the low volume button and power button together. Considering Apple has been doing the non-removeable battery thing for what, like 4 years now, I don't understand why this is such a concern for people.

Does anyone now have the maxx that had the razr? I have read on a few reviews (even from engadget) that the maxx not only has a better battery, but also that the radios were tweaked and as a result it gets better/more stable signal? Anyone experience that?

data and tethering connection problems...anyone else?
Jan 25, 2012, 4:50 PM
in the Motorola Droid RAZR forum

I'm on my 2nd razr and I'm still having multiple data connectivity issues...the phone regularly drops its data connection then reconnect, additionally tethering has been virtually useless, right now I'm writing this on the phone while my laptop is connected to its hotspots in a 4g/LTE coverage area and my laptop (nor my ipad) can browse websites but they are both connected to the hotspots...at the same time my phone is browsing without a problem (albeit its dropped the ...

Any Calling/Connection/Text problems out there?
Dec 1, 2011, 7:10 PM
in the Motorola Droid RAZR forum

I just bought the razr a few days ago and VZW just replaced it yesterday; thinking/HOPING the first one I got just happened to be a dud. Basically it wouldn't make calls or ring when someone was calling on occassion; same with texts. It would work, then not, then work, then not etc...I would have to do the "resend text message" a bunch of times before it would send one, in a good 4g coverage area with full bars...Or make ...

Did you get the defender series one? I originally got that one for my bionic and was amazed how massive it made the phone so I returned it and got the commuter series and as any case would it added bulk but not so much that I couldn't deal with it easily...I just ordered commuter series for the Razr I just picked up yesterday, hopefully it doesn't completely erase the thinness of this phone though obviously I know it ...

The bionic is my 3rd Motorola DROID (x, x2 and now bionic) and I've had / used many other droids (HTC's, samsungs etc) and Iphones including the 4 on AT&T and verizon...motorolas droids are hands down the best out there...period (imho). The reliability, speed, capabilities, call quality etc far surpassed all others ... only problem I see with them throughout the line is the camera software stinks, but I didn't buy it for the camera.

I have the thunderbolt in a 3g only area (though our airport has 4g coverage, but I'm not near it) and I can talk and surf at the same time without a problem...it's actually the reason I won't be returning the phone (I like my droix x widgets better, but I like being able to talk and surf more). So...not sure where you're getting your information, but it's wrong.

Anyway to get Droid X widgets on this thing?
Mar 20, 2011, 12:48 PM
in the HTC ThunderBolt forum

I picked up the thunderbolt as I was bored with my droid X and wanted 4G. I like it for the most part but if it weren't for the fact that I can browse the web while on a call (even in 3g only areas) I would consider returning it because there are some widgets on the droid X that I like a LOT better. News, Calendar, Quick contacts etc...heck the droid x keyboard is better too. I found ...

Yea, the iphone 4 in terms of quality construction of the device and polishing of the OS is just about flawless, makes my droid x seem like something made by Mattel by comparison, but they REALLY dropped the ball on functionality. Too bad...

And what would another carrier have done here? ... Same thing... We have 3 lines of service as well and our monthly bill is $300...I'm not eligible either but I didn't blame verizon...I'm the one that started a 2 year contract last summer. (of course, I found a way around it though; upgraded on my data plan for my laptop; those plans have been available for upgrades for years - the iphone however is going back).

Verizon iPhone 4 vs Droid X
Feb 8, 2011, 1:15 PM
in the Verizon forum

So I've had the droid x since it came out, just received the verizon iphone 4 yesterday and well...I think it's going back; wanted to see if I'm missing something first. The 2 reasons that the iphone is going back essentially add up to the droid being more functional. 1) Droid widgets, none existent on iphone 2) Native voice to text on droid, missing on iphone. All the app store options I found for iphone defeated the purpose (quick easy voice ...

Tether& alk at the same time?
Feb 15, 2010, 12:51 PM
in the Apple iPhone 3GS forum

Wondering if you can use the iphone to tether for a laptop to use the internet connection from it AND talk on it at the same time? Thinking with AT&T's new plans we may be able to save money by doing this as right now we have dedicated accounts for our laptops through Verizon - quite expensive. Since I've heard you can browse the internet and talk at the same time on AT&T's network thinking we may be able ...

Whats the issue? We have two of them now and so far so good...Weve had some fluke issues, minor, but I chalked them up to WM glitches, remove/replace batter to restart it and problem gone...Nothing more than that?

Fit to screen in Internet Explorer...? Anyone?
Mar 21, 2009, 12:16 AM
in the Palm Treo Pro (CDMA) forum

So, bought two of these now (myself and wife)...LOVE THE PHONE. But one thing is driving me freakin' nutts! HORIZONTAL SCROLL in internet explorer... I seem to recall in WM6 (6.1? Earlier?) there was a "zoom level --> fit to screen" option...this option isn't on the Sprint Treo Pro - Anyone found a way to do this? Sure, there is a setting for mobile mode and desktop mode for viewing sites, but the mobile mode still scrolls horizontally (on sites ...

"Finally HUGE plus... Someone finally remembered to put the charging port back on the bottom of the phone. It's about time. I think this is because (I think) this phone is manufactured by HTC. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong." Actually I've owned I'm sure all Treo's since the 650, all have always had the charging port on the bottom...so it's not remembering to do it with palm/treo's, it's one difference between a Q and the Treo. As for ...

Quick/Moderate Review

My wife and I are on VZW, long story short the only phones we're comfortable with are WM Treo's. VZW obviously doesn't have a new one, Sprint is $110/month cheaper for us than VZW, so when the 800w hit we tried it...I tried it for about 2 weeks, thought it was ok, not amazing but not bad either. Ported our numbers over, within 24 hours my wife was demanding to go back to VZW as she hated the call ...

Neat idea, but this thing doesn't even sync calendar, contacts, email etc with a smartphone/exchange server mailbox...DURRR...They targeted at busy business professionals and didn't think that would be an important feature? ...Purely a waste of money.

Sucks...I know not everyone has a use for iR, but for those that do it's a requirement most of the time...And it's getting replaced with WiFi which to me is the MOST pointless addition to a smartphone, I mean if you need a smartphone email, calendar etc on your phone and solid office capabilities on it, do you really have time to find a useable "hot spot" to be able to send/receive? Just seems pointless since most smartphones are ...

iR Port?

I know this says it doesn't have an iR port, but so do a few other phones on here that do have them...Anyone with one of these confirm whether it has one or not? I'm thinking of getting the phone but cannot if it doesn't have iR (for a business application I use, has to have iR connectivity). Thanks!
