Sync with Outlook?
Feb 8, 2007, 6:34 PM
in the Motorola KRZR K1 forum

This phone looks awesome and I'm leaning toward buying it, but I need my phone to sync with MS Outlook. Has anyone done this? How well does it work? I have a smartphone now that syncs great -- even automatically puts phone in silent mode when the calendar says I'm in a meeting! I'm not expecting this to be that good, but still need it to work reasonably well. Thanks in advance!

SYNC vs. Smartphone
Nov 14, 2006, 11:58 AM
in the Samsung SYNC SGH-A707 forum

I know it's apples and oranges, but the reason I ask is I love the way the smartphones seamlessly sync with Outlook. With a smartphone, the phone 'knows' when I'm in a meeting and automatically switches to silent mode until the meeting is over. Great! But I don't use a lot of the other features a smartphone offers and this phone looks great too! So I'm wondering how well the SYNC syncs?

Accessories?

The one review (so far) says this phone uses different accessories than other HTC phones. I understand it uses a different memory card -- does anyone know if it uses the same mini-usb jack for charging/sync'ing?

Can you explain what you mean by 'reprogramed for Cingular'? I'm also using an SDA (bought off Ebay) on Cingular, but I didn't change any settings. Are there some things I should change?

Be aware, HTC's 2.5mm plug is not a 'standard' plug! Search the forums (this one and for the Cingular 2125) and you'll find references to it. I believe HTC's is similar to the Palm Treo, but I would confirm it.

ActiveSync vs. Pocket Mirror vs. Intellisync
Aug 1, 2006, 9:56 AM
in the HTC SDA (USA) / SP5m (Tornado) forum

I have had nothing but trouble with ActiveSync and have been unable to get it to sync my calendar items (syncs everything else fine). It's unstable and causes several problems on my desktop (especially when shutting down). Anyway, I just tried the trial version of Intellisync and it worked great! My question is, has anyone else tried Intellisync and/or Pocket Mirror? I'd love to hear some reviews before shelling out $50 or $60 for the full versions. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know how to turn off the music that plays when you turn on and off the phone? Thanks!

ActiveSync Problems?
Jul 14, 2006, 12:48 PM
in the HTC SDA (USA) / SP5m (Tornado) forum

I currently have the Cingular version of this phone (2125) and have had MANY problems sync'ing with Outlook -- but otherwise love the phone. I'm considering making the jump to the SDA, and I'm wondering if it has the same issues? I searched the forum here and found only a couple issues; if you search the 2125 forum you'll find many, many posts. Is the lack of posts here just because the topic is covered elsewhere? I know the ...

Of course, the specs could change as this thing gets rolled out, but for now it lacks GSM 800/850 which indicates it will not be available for the US. Hope for a US version soon!

Valid $100 rebate!!!

in the HTC 2125 / 2100 (Faraday) forum

I got my $100 (two $50 VISA cash cards) in the mail today. So I guess the rebate is valid with only the $19.99 mediaNet unlimited package!

Assuming you got the phone from Cingular, they're not necessary. Cingular has already loaded the latest updates (on phones purchased after 12/14).

I might not be the best one to answer this, but as I understand it, the unlimited data plan allows greater access to the internet. MEdia unlimited allows only port 80 access -- which is your basic http/web page stuff. That's enough for most of us. But if you want to do more (e.g. vpn access) you'll need the more expensive, unlimited data plan.

Well, now I too have subscribed to the MEdia Net Unlimited (for 19.99) in hopes that it will qualify for the rebate. I spoke to yet another CSR who gave me (surprise) yet another answer -- but this time it was the answer I wanted (that the 19.99 feature would qualify). So I got the CSR's ID and asked them to add a note to my file stating that I was told the 19.99 MEdia Net Unlimited would qualify ...

This is one of the biggest problems with Cingular's customer service. It seems I can get a different answer each time I call. I just confirmed with them that in order to qualify for the rebate I need the 'unlimited' data plan. Here in NY, that is $44.99/mo. I asked specifically if one of the cheaper plans would also qualify and they said no. I don't doubt that if you or I were to call again we ...

Unless you need the unlimited data plan anyway, this isn't much of a rebate. The unlimited plan costs $45/month, and you need to have it at least as long as it takes for them to process the rebate (~3-4 months). If you were going to get the data plan anyway, I guess it's a good deal, but I certainly wouldn't sign up for the plan just to qualify for the rebate....

Audiovox didn't make the SMT 5600, nor does Cingular make the 2125 -- both are made by the High Tech Computer Corp (HTC). But HTC doesn't actually sell phones, they just make them and let others put their brand names on it. Faraday is the HTC internal code name for the 2125 (the 5600's was Typhoon), but it doesn't have any meaning outside HTC. Do you really want the 2125 -- obviously that's up to you, but I've ...

I'm having an activesync problem with my work computer. Apparently, BlackIce firewall needs to be configured to allow certain ports to be free. Maybe you're having a similar problem. In any case, how I discovered the conflicting program was to use msconfig.exe to, one by one, 'turn off' the services and programs my computer was running (restarting each time, what a pain) until I found the culprit. In my case it was the firewall.

I've had this phone for a few days now (and love it), but I'm having trouble finding accessories? Does anyone know where to find them? Do the SMT5600 accessories work with this phone? Thanks in advance!

How tied is this to T-Mob?
Dec 9, 2005, 10:32 AM

This phone looks great and I'm seriously thinking about getting it (or the new Razor) but, as a Cingular user, I wonder how much of this phones OS is tied to T-Mob. I understand I'd have to change some settings, but assuming I do that, will I still lose some functionality if I use this phone on Cingular's net?

Outlook Synch?
Sep 20, 2005, 10:08 AM
in the Motorola E398 forum

Does anyone have any experience synching this phone with Outlook? I currently have a smartphone that synchs well, but has other problems (it's an MPX220...). So I'm looking for a new phone, but need to synch with Outlook. Anyone know how well the E398 can do that?

I've discovered that FlexWallet has a small utility to synch its files built in. Also, I've been told there are other synch programs out there for smartphones that will allow file synch -- if anyone knows of one I'd love to hear about it!

File Synch?

in the Motorola MPx220 forum

I have been using my MPX220 for a couple weeks now, and I can't figure out how to synch files with Activesynch (3.7.1). I've used Activesynch with my PPC and had no problems. Now the 'files' doesn't even show up under 'options'. Any help?
