Necessary Updates???

Hi! Just got the 2125 and am so far very impressed. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the software updates at:

http://www.htcamerica.net/support/software_updates.htm »

are really necessary. Everything seems to be working fine and this is a brand new product.

Assuming you got the phone from Cingular, they're not necessary. Cingular has already loaded the latest updates (on phones purchased after 12/14).
