Valid $100 rebate?

The following $100-off rebate is currently listed on Cingular.com for the 2125

However, even after reading the fine print, I don't see why this can't be applied to a phone purchased in the store.

Anyone have success with this? If so, I'd have to step-up my mission to find this phone in a store as the rebate expires on Saturday.

/Wishes they offered 1-year contracts on cingular.com ☹️

Unless you need the unlimited data plan anyway, this isn't much of a rebate. The unlimited plan costs $45/month, and you need to have it at least as long as it takes for them to process the rebate (~3-4 months).
If you were going to get the data plan anyway, I guess it's a good deal, but I certainly wouldn't sign up for the plan just to qualify for the rebate....

Actually, I gave Cingular a call yesterday asking about the data plan for this -- and they said, since this wasn't a full PDA phone, you're covered w/ the $20/month data plan.

Can anyone else confirm this? This fact was one of the other reasons I'm leaning towards this phone: $20/month for unlimited high speed internet is a pretty good deal.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm also wondering if you need to have the unlimited high speed on from the get-go, or can you add it during the first 30 days and still be OK on the rebate? I ordered with only the 5MB plan (9.99) but would bump it to the unlimited if I could get the rebate...

This is one of the biggest problems with Cingular's customer service. It seems I can get a different answer each time I call. I just confirmed with them that in order to qualify for the rebate I need the 'unlimited' data plan. Here in NY, that is $44.99/mo. I asked specifically if one of the cheaper plans would also qualify and they said no.
I don't doubt that if you or I were to call again we could get a different answer....
In the end, I guess we won't know until someone actually gets the rebate (3 or 4 months from now). After going around in circles with Cingular's customer service so many times (on many issues) I just don't trust them anymore.

After going round and round to unhelpful support - and with changes to the verbage on the 2125 page (yesterday) - it appears that the 19.99 MEdia Net plan qualifies the 2125. We'll see whether I get the rebate or not, but, it appears that it should work.

Well, now I too have subscribed to the MEdia Net Unlimited (for 19.99) in hopes that it will qualify for the rebate. I spoke to yet another CSR who gave me (surprise) yet another answer -- but this time it was the answer I wanted (that the 19.99 feature would qualify). So I got the CSR's ID and asked them to add a note to my file stating that I was told the 19.99 MEdia Net Unlimited would qualify me for the rebate. We'll see what happens in a couple months....
In the meantime -- I really like being able to access the internet on my phone. It's slow, but much faster than I thought it would be!

Okay, maybe this is a stupid question, but with this phone is there any difference between the $20/$40 per month internet plans? Or is it best to go with whichever lowest-cost plan the rep says will provide you with unlimited internet access, because both plans are functionally equivalent?

I might not be the best one to answer this, but as I understand it, the unlimited data plan allows greater access to the internet. MEdia unlimited allows only port 80 access -- which is your basic http/web page stuff. That's enough for most of us. But if you want to do more (e.g. vpn access) you'll need the more expensive, unlimited data plan.

I got my $100 (two $50 VISA cash cards) in the mail today. So I guess the rebate is valid with only the $19.99 mediaNet unlimited package!
