Global LTE bands?
Sep 16, 2012, 10:17 PM
in the Apple iPhone 5 (CDMA / global) forum

Wow, It is incredible to see the LTE support that this phone has! I believe this is the first phone where Verizon's version supports more global bands than the at&t version! If not to mention the comparison to GS3...

For e-mail button change: Menu->Tools->Settings->General->pe rsonalization->One Touch Keys->Messaging Key-> and then either short press or longer press-> find and select "messaging" -> up to you which view you prefer. As far as I know, there is no way to get threaded messages on the e71, unless you load 3rd party app, which I am not sure if it even exists. Hope this helps.

Yes there is. When the phone is unlocked, use the same buttons that you would use to unlock it (blue button and then immediately the function key)

Re: Can the storm be used on T MO?
Feb 5, 2009, 11:20 PM
in the BlackBerry Storm 9530 forum

Some other person on a different forum said that they use UNLOCKED 9530 on AT&T but only in GSM mode. You will not be able to use 3G because of the frequency mismatch. Another challenge would be to unlock the phone if purchased from Vzw, since I suspect it is sold locked.

Re: Yes

T-mo 3G bands will use 1700Mhz in the US. The phone supports 2100Mhz for Europe, Asia etc. So it is a no go for 9530 on T-Mo in 3G mode. Although 9520 specs are not fully confirmed, I suspect that version of Storm will not work on T-Mo either as T-Mo does not operate any 850/1900 3G bands in the US.

You could actually do VOIP over 3G, yet again you are faced with data roaming charges when abroad (where VOIP would mostly be used). I am curious is Fring or Skype would work on this platform. I think this is a very good platform and Vzw version of this phone is a decent business phone for US focused business. With the economy in a dump right now every $ counts when you travel abroad, so Canadian version 9520 sounds like ...

It is a nice phone. it is very encouraging to hear that slingbox is playing well on this platform. Now, 9520 has Wi-fi, so I assume all of the stuff the guy was saying could be done abroad for free. Thank you for this link.

Thank you. 7 different radios are all good, but that means roaming $$$. I would personally drop 900/1800 GSM bands, keep WCDMA 2100 (available almost in almost every 900/1800 GSM country) and add Wi-FI so that I do not have to pay for roaming. VOIP (like UMA with T-Mo) allows me to call US for free while I temporarily reside in China. My friends can also call me for free as I use the same US number (very sweet). My ...

1. How are you going to get e-mails when you are traveling abroad without WI-FI? 2. How can I watch my Slingbox when I travel? Data Roaming? 3. Can you make VOIP calls on this phone? 4. Is it possible to transfer a presentation or contact via bluetooth from my phone to this phone? Historicaly it was not possible with Verizon. Correct me if I am wrong, but this does not sound as a business-friendly phone, but I had no ...

Re: Can I use E71-3 on at&t's HSDPA?
Jul 25, 2008, 2:26 AM
in the Nokia E71 / E71x forum

Alter, If I found E71-3, don't you think I came across E71-2 as well? Most of us here have a somewhat good idea of phone offerings and capabilities. Anyway, on at&t's tech support forum I asked about using E71-3 in the US. They said majority of their 3G is in 1900 band, but they could not offer a detailed map for 3G coverage by frequency. It's a no go for me. Thank you all for answering. S3vSt3R

Thank you rdwd for clarifying my question. I want to buy E71-3 (wcdma 850/2100) and use 2100 band as I temporarily live in Asia. When I return to the US I would like to use the same phone on at&t's network. You nailed it with this question: Is there wcdma 850 coverage in most of the U.S.? Thank you.

If I purchased IPhone from at&t would I be able to unlock it by jailbraking it? I live abroad now, so I do not want to be stuck with roaming charges and monthly payments from at&t. Thanks. S3vSt3R

I have E61 - not E61i, but it should be identical. You do not loose GSM bands in two out of three options. When you select "Dual Mode" or " GSM" in Settings - Network - Network Mode, you will be able to connect to Cing's network. You will not be able to connect to Cing's network only when you select UMTS option in the above mentioned menu.

I second that 100%. I use truphone as well. I have E61 while my wife has E60. We are an ocean apart for another week. We use truphone to talk to each other and it is absolutely clear and seamless. We will also use it in our new location, so that we will not spend too much money on refilling our prepaid SIMs (both our work places and a new home have Wi-fi). Another beauty of truphone is that ...

The FCC test report shows WCDMA 1700 along with 850 and 1900. While it does not concern me as Cingular User, it is a very good news for T-Mobile future High Speed Network users.

firmware 3.0633.09.04

There is a new firmware for E61 using NUI. I upgraded the phone, but noticed a problem. The speed of my web browsing went down to 56K. It used to be 120-150K as meassured by CNET speed test. I tried reloading the firmware, hard resetting - all to no avail. Any similar experiences?

I kind of remember something like this. If you search the whole mpx220 forum you will find something about no service after the phone firmware upgrade. If you power it off and on again, you will get service back, if I remember correctly.

Cingular will help, if not use this tutorial for E62 https://cingular.atgnow.com/cng/tutorials/KB7 0109.html .The only difference is proxy port set to 8080, per tech support's recommendation. 3. Hard to argue with feel and touch observations. 8125 is a completely different concept of Qwerty implementation. Blackjack and E61 share the same layout concept. I do not know Blackjack, but I own E61. 1. I love E61 for battery life, which I noticed is dreadful on Blackjack. I can go two days of regular browsing and calls. 2. I love it for UI, its ability to personalize almost everything. 3. Full office suite is nice. 4. Nokia PC suite is nice, Nokia update ...
