I haven't experienced your exact problem, but when roaming, I occassional have up to a 20 second delay before the call goes through. This is probably because of interchange between systems. If the call doesn't go, the phone will "beep" a couple of times. Try checking your firmware by selecting *#837#. It should read 250.nep or higher. I've heard its 450 in Australia. If not, go to your Orange dealer and have it updated. Also check to see that you have atleast half the bars and ...

I am with Orange (Melbourne,Australia), and so is my wife. 4 out of 10 times of trying to connect a call, there is no "ring tone", so I have to hang up and try again. Anyone else had this problem? Also, is it possible to get the suburb that you are in on the screen, like other GSM Nokias? Thanks

I did some checking and found out that you need a Nokia cable, DAC-2, to connect your laptop to the Cark-91 data port. I found the cable at several Nokia accessory websites for about $5.00. Another option would be to get a antenna adapter for your phone and continue using your DLR-3 cable. I also have a Cark-91, but use the optional handset in that port. I think I'll order the cable tonite and report back when I've had a chance to test it.

Hi guys, fantastic to see a forum for the 6385. I live in Australia and as most of you probably know its a big country and there is not that many people. Therefore the mobile coverage is not the best. For this I have a car kit (CARK-91) connected to an external antenna for improved reception. On the car kit there is a port labeled Data/Handset. My question is, does anyone know where you can these data cables that plug into the junction box of the car ...

Faxmodem setup for 6385

I've seen several postings about using the 6385 to send a fax. I have XP Pro and WinFax Pro v10, and use my phone to fax every week because I no longer use a landline. This explaination is based on Verizon service, so there maybe some differences depending on your SP. First you need a modem driver for your computer. For Verizon I used a standard driver that I downloaded from the Verizon website. I have also used a 6385 modem driver that I found on ...

Recently picked up from Ebay, a couple of batteries rated at 1200mah. The batteries are labeled for 8260 and fit snuggly in the 6385. I've used this battery type for a month now with no problems and definately longer battery life. So far they haven't blown up in my pocket. Has anybody else had any experience with these batteries?

Re: Firmware update after warranty period

I've sent my phones to Entronix at Minneapolis for service. They told me that it was a flat $100. to fix any Nokia phone out of warranty. It seems like alot, but they put the phone up to manufacturers specs and update any new componets and software. Flat $35.00 to replace faceplate.
