Had the same problem myself. After three tries with the same error message called VZW and they walked me through an alternative procedure. Excellent tech was very helpful and patient. Good luck

Re: Love the New OS .148 from VZW!!!

Seems to be alot faster but I have noticed that there is a hesitation sometimes making an option selection. I found that it would not move to my selection unless I waited about 5 seconds and tried again. The portrait keyboard is a nice addition but sometimes hard to use if you have fat fingers! Still way better than OS.75.

Had the same problem myself. Called verizon and they directed me to do the following: go to options/advanced- options/applications/vznav with the curser on vxnav, then using the bb key (one with the berries) ...go to "edit persmissions" and change "connections and Interactions to ALLOW rather than Custom. save the change, restart the bb and That should clear it up...good luck

Disappointing News Regarding VZ Nav

in the BlackBerry 8830 forum

Talked to tech support a VZW and they indicated that availability date of the download for the 8830 allowing VZ NAv is unknown at this time but expected either in late Nov or sometime in Dec. Looks like it will be a while yet.

Re: BB 8830 vs Moto Q
Oct 18, 2007, 2:09 PM
in the BlackBerry 8830 forum

I have had the first generation Q for 2 years and traded up to the new Q about a month age. I kept the phone for about a week and decided to try the 8830. Hands doen the 8830 is a far superior smartphone, this coming from a diehard moto person. The only issue wit the 8830 is the ringer in that it is a little anemic as far as loudness, but all things considered the ...

As both a past Q owner and most recently a 9m owner I can agree with most everything you have said. The resident color color schemes are not consistent with the typical business user in my mind...they should be more muted. The red band does not appeal to me but the idea of a metal surround does. The red fuction keys are very difficult to read althought the black keys with white lettering is much more ...

Re: wifi

What has been reported in the past by others is that the Q will not work with the available wifi mini sd card because the Q will not handle the power requirements of the card. My recollection is that someone actually tried the wifi card and I believe and it did NOT work. VZW has seen to it that their data package is required to get internet access and that is not likely to change since I ...

Hello Wizzard, Have you had any luck with using the spectec or other mini sd wifi card to receive wifi with the Q? I am anxiously awaiting your opinion as to whether wifi is possible on the Q. As far as I can see, wifi is the only missing feature on the phone. Regards

Re: MOTO Q or XV-6700? WIFI QUESTION
Jan 8, 2007, 2:22 PM

Note that the spectec wifi mini sd card, has been tried by others and reported on line not to work. I also called Motorola and they were the ones who provided the reason - a power requirments issue. I, and I'm sure many others would sure like to know if you are able to get it to work. As far as I can see the concious ommission of wifi is the only real significant ...

I am a user that has the same objectives as you and have had my Q since June of this year. I am very pleased with the Q for those operations exclusive of email. Seems like most of the users trying to get email have the problems. Since I am not one of those I had not had the issues people complain about. I can honestly say this phone has never frozen up on me ...

Rick, the firmware upgrade doe not exist online or at the Verizon Store accordingly you have 2 choices as follows: You can call vzw customer service and get them to send you a replacement after they understand the situation (note it will be a factory reman which is as new) or you can call Motorola and they will take the phone in and replace it with one that is up to date as well. VZW sent me the phone by ...

Well I tried but was not successful. Apparently, the "firmware" version on my phone turned out to be a pre-production version of the firmware, and the software upgrade tool would not work with firmware versions before a certain date! There are many of us out there in this predicament from what I can gather from Moto. Those who bought early Q's may have received Q's with pre-production firmware. ANyway the options available are as follows: send ...

I too am very happy with the phone as I have reported in the past on this site. There are a few things I would like to see addressed by the firmware revision upcoming but in general this phone does most everthing I want and you should expect out of a phone. Items to address are wifi capability, Better reception indoors, ability to synch notes, and improved calendar displays. Still a good phone that could be made great

Calendar Daily Display
Jul 12, 2006, 12:03 PM

Is anyone else disappointed that the daily calendar view only displays scheduled events rather than the complete workday? I was surprised that Moto did not allow viewing more than just the scheduled appointments. Is there some 3rd party software to take care of this, or is this something that might be added in future firmware revisions?

The intersting part is that the software works when plugged into the PC and then only sporaticaly when uplugged. I hope they get it fixed soon as it seems like a good piece of software for weather related information. Thanks for your thoughts....

Weatherbug Software

I purchased the Weatherbug weather software from Handango and just found out that the software is not compatible at this writing with WM5. Be aware that the weatherbug and other websites specifically indicate it will work with any WM smartphone. I am not trying to get a refund from Handango. I will post the results of that effort. On a general note, buying software from these small companies with nothing but email support that generally takes days ...

Jun 20, 2006, 6:02 AM

I too get the sound every 15 minutesd so I started thinking about it and came to the conclusion that it was the result of having "all day" events in the Outlook calendar, you know those one liners you put in Outlook at an unspecified time to remind you of something. If you look at the entry more carefully you will probably find that there is an alarm set at 15 mins that re-occurs until dismissed. That ...

I hsd originslly plsnnrd to go with Smartphone notes but hsd so much trouble with a buggy installation thst I went with Phatnotes. Here's my take.....I have had my Q for about a week. I purchased the Q because I wanted a motorola phone with the capability to sync with the Outlook calendar, contacts and notes DB's. As a nicety, I would like to have access to the internet, but I was not interested in email so I did not opt for the data services. In my mind all-in-one devices are a compromise and one must decide what he ...
