Whats the concensus?

This forum is a great source. You all are bright and really up to speed. I really could use some consensus help. My head is spinning from so many opinions. I have done a lot of homework (as you all have), and need to get some sound help: Is the Q really usable at this point of its development? Seems like some input has been that it has major issues, some say its usable as it is. I intend to use it for business with my contact database from ACT, my company email from Outlook; one feature that I really find necessary is voice dialing (got spoiled on my E815).Is now the time to buy this unit? Would I be better off with a Treo 700w (lacks voice dialing-dang).You all have the units already, could you please help me with some unbiased feedback?

Here's my take.....I have had my Q for about a week. I purchased the Q because I wanted a motorola phone with the capability to sync with the Outlook calendar, contacts and notes DB's. As a nicety, I would like to have access to the internet, but I was not interested in email so I did not opt for the data services. In my mind all-in-one devices are a compromise and one must decide what he or she is willing to compromise on. I found setup of the phone was simple, I was disappointed that I had to purchase an application to get my Notes over to the Q, but I know that going in. I was hoping that the mini SD wifi card would work with the Q, but I have heard of no one who has tried it, and moto says the feature in the Q has been made inoperab...

The phone on the Q is excellent, as is the voice dialing with my bluetooth headset. My office email is pushed using goodlink software and I also sync with my computer since the voice dialing feature doesn't recognize the goodlink contact list. This is only a small drawback that will be corrected when Verizon's push email supports exchange servers later this fall. Internet access has been a bonus and I purchased pdanet in order to use it as a modem when necessary. The speed is much better than I had expected. I am disappointed about no wifi and I was used to using a stylus on my ipaq and miss that. The screen, however, is brighter and clearer than any other I've seen. Between the Q, a treo or a blackberry, for my purposes, I'll stick w...

tnvogel - what application did you buy to get your outlook notes into your q? i'm disappointed that notes aren't sync'd or that you can't edit tasks beyond entering tasks and marking them complete (i.e. priority, due dates, and categories).

thanks.

I hsd originslly plsnnrd to go with Smartphone notes but hsd so much trouble with a buggy installation thst I went with Phatnotes. Phatnotes installed easily without a glitch and has worked flawlessly since installation. It took several sessions with a tech in Italy (where the software is supported from) to get all of the residual Smartphone notes software off of my PC, but I must say the tech was very patient and knew his stuff. Hope that helps.

No they do not. I have tried both and I prefer SmartPhone notes, less complicated.

I have heard that by using goodlink you can sync notes but I am not ready to try this yet.

What application can I use to synchronize my Notes on Outlook OTA? What about ActiveSync?

Actually, I switched over from a Treo 650 and I need a way to get my memos on to my Q. Any suggestions synching to Outlook Notes or importing my Palm Treo Memos?

Thanks.
