Where Can You Use NFC mobile payments anyway?

I agree it would be ridiculous to pay more money to get NFC I don't see why anyone needs it at this time on any phone in the US. Can you guys tell me where you are using it, and is it available at most of the stores you go to? I see many stores Starbucks, Amazon, Google Paypal etc. are using mobile wallets without using NFC. From what I read NFC is used as a mobile wallet ...

I agree, it is the end of an era. I moved over to the iphone world, my wife still uses her Blackberry (my old one before switching) and I still look at it with kind thoughts. I miss that keypad! :( MIF

iPhone 5 - when I went to update the software it immediately said I had to download the updater. Took about 10 seconds then it asked me if I wanted to update 6.0.1. Process took about 5-6 minutes on wifi.

Thanks AT&T for waiting so long. Was really going to purchase the 9900. Have been a Blackberry user for many many years but ..... iphone 5 is coming out next month. Was not interested in the iphone mostly because of the lack of the keypad. Have been using an ipad for a few months and am actually getting used to the screen for typing (their spell ahead is really good). Will probably jump onto the apple ...

I was really looking forward to this phone, always loved the Bold and with the touchscreen it was always what I wished for, but... looks like RIM is really getting to the point where it is time to consider a different phone (and I have been a blackberry fan for many, many years). Hate to say it but the iphone would be where I would go. I have the ipod and have to admit the programs (and ...

Loved the original Bold but really wanted the touch screen (for doing almost everything else except typing!). It was so hard giving it up but got the Torch. Loved the touch screen but did not like the keypad (too small). The Torch is also slow in some applications (including the calendar). Also did not like the slider, phone does not feel solid. Can't wait to try the Touch Bold. Shoot, I gave my wife ...

Have been waiting a while for the pocket (slip) cases and horizontal belt cases with sleeper switches. I have loved these cases when I had the Bold and they are now available for the Torch. The pocket case is a bit tight but loosens up with use. They have the eaccess logo on them. They are not inexpensive ($29.99 each) but I think they are worth the price. I assume more will come out in ...

Amazing that the upgrades (improvements) are being made so fast by AT&T. I remember with the original Bold how slowly they came (if ever). Did the upgrade when desktop manager said there was one available. Upgrade went smoothly and the improvements are definitely noticeable. Even improved the trackpad, I had noticed that sometimes it did not respond right away to swipes (even with a 90 sensitivity)and now it moves perfectly, as good as I remember ...

Was told it will be on sale this Sunday? Who knows. I have the Bold too, tried the 9700 at T-Mobile. I just love the size of my Bold and can't see any reason to upgrade but can see how younger people would like this version better, they have no problems seeing the smaller screen and using the smaller keypad. Too bad we will probably not see a blackberry the same size as the bold ...

Re: 128 MB of usable internal memory
Nov 15, 2009, 6:03 PM
in the BlackBerry Bold 9700 forum

Hi Rich, That is admirable but I think in your review you should write 256mb (128mb available user memory). This would be more accurate, stating just 128mb gives the impression there is only a total of 128mb that can be used for both system files and the user. Probably should do that in all reviews. If this is stated somewhere else then I must have missed it, I tend to go right to the specs. Thanks for ...

Just go to the RIM Website and you will see that it does have 256mb. Crackberry is correct. Phone Scoop made a boo boo. Wish it was the same size as the Bold1, still not convinced the Bold2 is that much better than the Bold1 to make me want to re-up my contract for another 2 years. I just love the original Bold, it has been very reliable for me and the size is perfect. I agree the 'upgraded' features are not enough to really want to change - I also think that making it smaller is one of the new features and this will appeal to many but for me that is a downgrade, I like the bigger size (I had a curve and always felt that it was too small). You need to get a program to rip the dvd's you own. I use Cucosoft iPod Video Converter to create a .mp4 file. I then use a program called Blackberry Video to convert it to fit in the blackberry screen. I know some people use other programs. Since I have recently got the newest ipod touch as a birthday present I only watch movies on my ipod but this works fine for the blackberry. MIF

I agree totally. I am one of those people who do not need 3G and am looking forward to the 8900. I assume that eventually the ATT network will be all 3G (4G or whatever) but until then I can get a great Blackberry at a good price that does everything I need it to do and it has wi-fi - I have my own wi-fi network at home so I assume I can use it to ...

Interesting, I just looked at the US carriers and Rogers. Wonder why they pulled it, all the people I know who are using it really like it, the only complaint is it is too big. Hi Everyone, Need help. I want to upgrade one of my phones, which is eligible for an upgrade, to the Bold. When I try to do it on the at&t website I only see the $399 price without the rebate. When I use chat, they say that there is no rebate for upgrading, only for new customers. Is this correct? Do I have to go into a store to do this? MIF.

The Blackberry Curve 8900 is the upgrade to the Curve (no 3G on this phone). I have not seen it yet, but besides the name I bet it is 'curved' like the Curve. The 9000 is a combination of the Curve and the 8800, the size is like the 8800 but it has the features of the Curve and unlike both of them it has 3G and Wi-Fi.
