From what I've read on engadget it bricks if you apply the update twice. Of course I'm guessing it could happen if you update just once, but from my understanding it's from updating more than once.

I'll always be confused as to why iPhone lovers are "sheeple". Apple has designed a phone to appeal to the masses. It's simple to use and has a wide range of functionality that caters to most people.

I've got an iPhone and love it. I'm looking forward to the announcement of the new one, but don't think for one minute that iChat will work right away. The iPhone is notorious for having features that AT&T won't let work right away...MMS and tethering anyone? To think that they would let iChat work right away is hopefull at best.

I was shocked at how low it was as I play Words with Friends and High Noon constantly, stream ESPN Radio and Pandora a lot, and am constantly surfing the web on my iPhone. Anyway, do you think Apple will change the advertising they have out for the iPhone? The commercial where the guy passes the time sitting on hold surfing the net? Or do you think they'll just "AT&T only" brand the commercial?

It's no big deal. I'll try the Bing search bar and if I don't like it...there's an app for that :-)...

Agreed, there is a lot of AT&T hate on these boards a lot of the time.
I use (and love) my iPhone. What I think people get mad about is AT&T bringing this stuff up after the problem arrises. IMO Verizon (being able to use the 20/20 hindsight of what happened to AT&T with the iPhone) is trying to deal with the network overload before it happens. It's a new phone...stuff like this happens with everything. A couple software updates and (hopefully) this'll be fixed. It's (probably) no big deal.
I'm not a fanboy...I have an iPhone and I love it. Though I understand those who do not(in poor AT&T 3G areas I live in Dayton, OH and our AT&T 3G coverage here is amazing).

Actually BluetoothGuy, they can't put a tower up on every f-ing corner. The FCC regulates this as well as people who own the property. Try doing a little research before talking out of your ass.
