1) You didn't have the software done in time.

2) You rushed the late software incomplete.

3) Even if it had worked you didn't have the capacity

4) You posted it and then took it down 'until further notice

5) We're talking about a phone that's launching with Sprint.

I have to agree with you on this one. Actually I'm seeing this happen more often than it should. Last major fluke I saw was when the Blackberry Storm first released. Did they actually think that thing would survive??? The second release wasn't bad.

If carriers, phone manufacturers, and software programmers would agree on a certain issue they won't be caught with their tail between their legs. I'm talking about time and quality, not just time. It seems companies want to get products out so fast that they're willing to sacrifice quality to make a little money.

If I were them, I'd rather work long and hard on something and have customers begging for more than have people taking my product and looking for the nearest toilet. I don't...

The phone works amazing its the APP that didn't live up to what it was suppose to do. Oh wait theres another App for it and there will probably be a few more soon. Stop wanting to bitch at everything and do some research

Seriously, it's Qik's fault here, not Sprint or HTC or Google.

But honestly, I'm not surprised. As soon as the rep's got their EVOs, and the video conferencing wasn't ready, I knew it would be an issue. I'm looking forward more to Skype's video chat more anyway.

I agree. Sprint can't be blamed for this one. 🙂

This just shows that the EVO was a bigger success then what they envisioned. They werent ready for it. But the EVO was like "READY OR NOT HERE I COME" 🤣 🤣

Here's the thing- it's a big selling point of the phone. It's whom Sprint is bundling the service with.

Yeah there may be a few more apps soon, but quite frankly if you expect this feature to be taken seriously it should've been sold with working videochat from the git-go, or at least a realistic timeframe.

I think we have a case of hypocrisy when you compare it to the iPhone.

Pre iphone none of the iPhone's capabilities existed. How many apps were available at launch for the original iphone? Very few and what was available was laughable because it was things that already existed on Virgin Mobile $30.00 phones. How long did it take for the iPhone to be able to send pictures over MMS (not as an email attachment)?

Would anyone say that Apple screwed up? Why are there two standards here?
This is an amazing device that leapfrogs the 3GS in many ways. So one feature is not ready at launch. If that is the only negative about this phone then it was wildly successful.

There were over 300,000 sold on the first day. Many more could have been...

Apple didn't advertise saying "You'll be able to do Copy + Paste" or "You'll be able to do MMS" or "You'll be able to run Apps." No, Apple sold the original iPhone saying "It's a great web browser and it's a great media player."

Beyond that, Apple didn't say a damn thing- those features didn't exist until Apple added them.

Apple also didn't launch the phone, release MMS a week later, then pull it because they didn't test it out thoroughly.

Sprint however, sold the phone with this feature and it doesn't work for the time being. Sprint/Qik should be doing what Apple does- wait until a feature works properly, then release it.

Enough of this perpetual beta crap.

We get it Bluedog, you love apple and ATT and palm. And you also love to sh*t on Android and sprint. You made your case, we believe you. You have your opinion and stand by it with a religious fervour. Well that's just good for you. You can point all the defects with Android and the EVO. But guess what? NOBODY FU**ING CARES! The EVO was very successful whether you like it or not. They sold tons of them and will continue to do so. That just shows you that it may not be perfect like you beloved Iphone (sarcasm). But many other people love it. So have fun with your Iphone buddy boy. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Actually, that is not true. While Apple's claim on the first iphone was that it could do everything, it actually did very little. I was so impressed with the marketing, I came very close to purchasing one. Upon reviewing what I currently had could do more, I elected to not follow through with chasing dangling carrots.

While the new iphone 4 brings more to the table than its predecessors, it is essentially still an iphone that has fallin short for one more year while the others are leapfrogging into new evolutions.

The iPhone is probably the worst cellphone ever made. Why? Because it fails to adequately perform the most basic function for which it was created-- making phone calls.

I once said if you polish a turd, you only end up with poop on your hands.

...I'm glad I don't have a polished turd for a cell phone!

I've used iPhones.

Nor have I had issues with the phone locking up and freezing in the middle of a call (tip of the hat goes to HTC ) or crashing while dialing (tip of the hat goes to Palm)

And uh, you don't need me to tell you the iPhone is as stable as smartphones come (barring a non-touchscreen blackberry, perhaps.)
