I agree....Verizon used to do whats right for the customer...this year, with all the changes to plans and upgrades they are getting too greedy..

I tried 2 demo's ( victoria garden's verizon store in CA), and had an IPHONE there for comparison...I also tried a brand new storm from another friend and did side by side with IPHONE...the storm does not stream vid's from sites like NBC mobile as well as the Iphone...that is not stopping me from a purchase when I return to NJ next week....but the truth is, vids stream better on the Iphone....and there are a ton of people on ...
why only a half-duplex speaker phone?
I use the speaker almost 90% of the time...A half duplex doesn't sound useful...

hi guys...I am looking to upgrade my sammy 970....As I recently started ebay, I need a phone that can check EBAY full pages, check google email for ebay notifications, ANSWER questions from EBAYS site...and of course, have a great camera I can take pics for reference at a clients house so I can research( close ups also)..
I went to the verizon store, and you know what that is like....so I figured I'd ask you experts..I want to shy away ...

Thanks ceasar for taking the time to answer....Thats kind of what I figured also,that would put it at the same timeline as the 990 replacing the 970(which I own now..)So Im gonna hang in there and wait for the new "Flagship" model.....BTW,Play Vid games at all?.....Im a 360 owner,and we are always looking for new people to join us...take care,harry

here's a great trick...you're on a call..the screen goes black(to save battery power)....press the speaker button...the complete diesplay will now stay lit the whole time....press it again to turn on the speaker......

I got the sammy for different reasons than the ones I ended up liking it best for..and one of the reasons is the ability to take camcorder movies AND transfer them to the PC with the trans card(the razr has no external card)....not only that,but the 970 has better reception than my LG 4500 even dreamed about......the voice quality is excellent,battery life with the std batt is better then the lg with the extended battery........oh,one more thing....which people ...

look on page 20 of the manual...it explains that pressing the left side soft key will bring up the messaging screen...press it again,and it brings up the settings screen for messages...scroll down,and it shows TEXT ENTRY......you can set the default text input to WORD.....
funny part is,untill I read the manual,verizon,and LEVEL 2 samsung techs told me predictave text could NOT be selected as default....nice touch :wink:

I never complained about the camcorder.....my original gripes are with the design,the lack of case,and the battery power management....and those complaints have been amplified by several other people....the camcorder function is actually quite nice...nice enough that I'm actually starting to like the phone becuase of the camcorder/camera functions...and am willing to overlook(get used to) its design parameters...

how do I get those text massage objects that i USED top have on my lg4500?.
on my 4500,when I sent a textmail,there was a whole array of objects(pictures,smileys,images,etc)...that came with the phone.......
it seems that the new verizon menu phones don't have these..(only quick text)...
any place that they can be gotten?>(including GIN)thanks

hey Austin...you saw my thread that said how much I hate the phone......But i will tell you this....the only reason I picked it over the 950 was because the 'missed call,VM alert,text alerts",stayed on the screen like my lg 4500...instead of going blank in 5 seconds like the 950......my phone is on the charger at night,so the battery run down isn't a problem.....but tomorrow or next day(when I can see what normal battery life is),I'll call myself and let ...

well just got the phone....issue's so far?....the case situation is ridiculous....one...only a pouch is available....and to get it out,you need to grip the top of the phone....right square on the camera lens..(like you have time while driving to GENTLY slide the phone out of a pouch)......Second.....the lens is in the same spot I want to grip the phone(left hand thumb hits the lens)....it is way uncomfortable to hold......third..Why does my screen go black after 10 seconds while on a ...

I finally went down to the verizon store and saw that...I also found out the screen doesn't stay on on the 8100 either...(though is does stay on longer,,,)...
one thing though.....I didn't see a reminder set for missed calls....only text,voice mail,etc.....does the 950 have a missed call alert?....

the phone i tried at the verizon store yesterday worked great...no lag at all...in fact,I think the vcast was quicker than the 8100 on display next to it//////

the easiey way is to go to the 2.0 web page on verizons site....register your number....and set your favorires there...
2 things I don't like already....
went down to verizon store to see the phone....The outside display goes off in 10 seconds.....and goes dark....maybe I'm used to my 4500....but I like the time being displayed at all times...plus,whether or not I've received any new messages......I tried looking for a way to keep the outside display on,couldn't figure it out...
also,having the phone closed when on speaker is nice..but again,the display goes off(so you can't tell elapsed time.....also,how can you disconnect the call?...I had to open the ...
