went down to verizon store to see the phone....The outside display goes off in 10 seconds.....and goes dark....maybe I'm used to my 4500....but I like the time being displayed at all times...plus,whether or not I've received any new messages......I tried looking for a way to keep the outside display on,couldn't figure it out...

also, having the phone closed when on speaker is nice..but again, the display goes off(so you can't tell elapsed time.....also,how can you disconnect the call?...I had to open the phone and hit end..tell me if I'm wrong here....thanks

I currently have the Samsung a650 and it does the same thing, the screen goes off after a certain number of seconds. It does that to conserve battery life. Since I will be eligible for an upgrade July 1st of next year, I'm looking at the phones now to get an idea what I might want. I however am getting disappointed that it's getting more difficult to find a tri-mode phone, unless I want a candy bar style phone. I like some of the features of the a950, but I will look at other phones too. Don't anyone on here recommend a Motorola phone because I have not had good luck with Motorola phones. For what I use my Samsung a650 for, it works just fine for me. It has excellent battery life for a color screen phone, better reception where Motoro...

I forgot to mention that if you want the phone to answer when it opens and close it to end a call, you have to change the settings to make that happen. However if you use the internet, you must hit send to start the internet session and hit end to end your internet session. The open and close feature does not apply for internet. I prefer to see who's calling before I answer the call, so I want to hit send to answer a call, and when using a headset, close the phone and still be on the phone, then hit end to terminate the call. That way, the call actually terminated rather than running the risk that the call is still connected and end up using up the anytime minutes, then possibly go over the anytime minutes.

It's rumored that Verizon will be introducing the Nokia 6256i very soon which is a trimode though w/o some of the advanced features of the 950. It's supposedly going to come out next week (we'll see) so maybe worth checking out for you.

The Nokia 6256i has the features I'm looking for. The main one is tri-mode. The FM tuner is something I could use, especially at the gym, but I would have to remember to put the phone on vibrate as some Cardinal Fitness locations I work out at don't allow cell phones to be used on the floor for talking on. I don't care if bluetooth will only work with the headset, but as long I have the option of using a cable to transfer any data between the phone and my computer, then I'm ok with that. But I hear it will have full bluetooth. Also a card that has 7 classic Atari games on it has me intrigued. I don't know if Verizon Wireless will like that, but Nokia is doing something right to offer some games on a flash card. I want to explore each ...

Sadly I don't think you can get trimode and Vcast in any Verizon phone.

☹️
