Re: New update after 4.7.0.75
I'd guess that within 3 or 4 more updates, this phone might be out of beta and actually work to specification.
Re: Splenda wrapper???
Great, the so called leading edge technology device fixed with baling wire and twine. What next? If VZW and RIM had any integrity whatsoever, they'd recall this piece of junk and fix it before releasing it onto the unsuspecting general public.
Re: Storm or Curve???
Did someone die and make you King? What are you contributing here aside from always touting your undying love for the Storm ... in broken English I might add. LMAO!
Re: Storm or Curve???
I see. So this forum is strictly for the cheerleaders? Woe is the poor sucker that makes his purchasing decision based upon your skewed and ignorant recommendation.
Re: Storm or Curve???
Despite a couple of the BB Koolaid Drinkers here, I will give you the factual story. You would be a fool to upgrade to the Storm at this time. There are many serious bugs with this phone. I took mine back last Saturday after 2 weeks of heavy evaluation.
Thumbs Down
Verizon and RIM both should be penalized for releasing this POS before it was ready.
Re: wow
In addition to your obvious grammar and spelling shortcomings, do you have a reading comprehension problem? I had the Storm for several weeks and used it extensively.
Re: RIM lowers third quarter outlook, touts Storm sales
Hawkeye, are you a Verizon Rep or Regional Sales Manager with RIM? I appreciate that you wish to keep things upbeat but I also feel you aren't realistic.
I got a Storm the first day they were out and kept it until Saturday. I upgraded to the Leaked software the day it came out.
While the Storm might be acceptable to a light user or some young person more interested in an iPhone type device for the kewl factor, it ...

Re: Call Quality on 8830??
I have the 8830 and one of the latest versions of the RAZR. I have tested them side by side in numerous areas as I travel a fair amount with my profession. Hands down, signal strength and call clarity are better with the 8830. I had numerous places where the call was dropped with the RAZR, immediately called back with the 8830 and had excellent clarity.
The 8830 is my first experience with BB, I am sorry ...
Re: People say low ringer volume..i say no
I've had no issues with the ringer. My experience was similar to yours, I changed the settings, it is as loud as my RAZR.
Voice dialing poor?
I love the 8830 but I've noticed the voice dialiing isn't very good. I know that's subjective, I'm comparing it to the voice dialing on my Razr. I've read a few posts about the microphone on the 8830 being overly sensitive?
Just wondered if others have found the voice dialing feature on the 8830 sub par. This is rather irritating as the small keyboard doesn't favor keying in numbers.
How do you punch in a name?
I call a lot of businesses, a number of which has a automated answering service and you can dial the extension by last name. With a regular phone keyboard, that's easy enough to figure out. How do you do it with this phone?
Re: Questions regarding 8830
DoubleHelix, thanks for your response. I called Verizon Tech Support today and received the same response. Took a little work to track down someone that actually really knew, but I am now confident this is the case.
This is great. I have heard a lot of good things about the blackberry phones, I will now find out for myself. 8830 on the way.
Re: Questions regarding 8830
Thanks for the reply but bad news. Having the wireless sync with Outlook, through Exchange Server, is an absolute must. And the Treo 700 Smart Phone version apparently blows for all the lock ups which I'm certainly not willing to live with.
Looks like it might be a good time to change providers.
Questions regarding 8830
I'm looking at acquiring the 8830. Have used the XV6700 for about 1 1/2 years, piece of junk. However, I use MS Exchange Server and MS Apps so the Smart Phone Windows OS is handy. Along those lines:
1. Will the 8830 work with Exchange Server? I don't care about push, pull or any of that, just so I can set the device to get my email every 30 minutes (or so) and manually ...
