Can Transflash be used for pics?

Instead of storing only music into the Transflash card, can I use that big space for pictures and videos? Can I use that space for Ringtones instead of the iTunes music? Or does it only support the built-in 5MB for Ringtones and pictures?

Thanks.

Charging and the annoying lights (and a skins question)...

So, as you all may know... When you plug in this phone to charge it, the rave-ready lights start pulsating away on the sides of the phone. For someone that sleeps with thier phone on the nightstand next to them, this is totaly annoying. I contacted Motorola about this to try to find a way to shut them off (while charging). They said 'No', this is just the way the phone is. My wife is about to throw this thing accross the room at night. If you think the lights aren't bright, try it in pitch black... it blinks the whole room. I don't want to have to put a shirt over something i paid this much for. Anyway, just in case anyone else wondered about that, that was as far as i got.

Also wondered if there was a way to change the skins. When you pl...

Going to voice mail instead of ringing

My wife and I both have these phones. We are on vacation in Disneyland, and for the last several days (maybe longer) when I call her phone, her phone frequently will not ring, but I will eventually get her voice mail. Sometimes I actually go to voice mail while her phone rings! Has anyone else noted this problem? I have talked to Cingular several times, and on their end, they have reset how long the phone is supposed to ring before it goes to voice mail, done resets and have had me try multiple fixes - nothing has cured the problem for good yet. They are suggesting I return her phone. Just wondering if anyone else has noted this. Also, has anyone done the Motorola update to stop the persistent ringing that occurs even after the call ...

Will it work in the US?

If I buy this phone outside the US will it work when I get home? It would be a GSM 900/1800/1900 model. Do any of the US providers allow you to use an unlocked phone or do you need to get one of their phones?

Thanks,
Todd

Question on GSM signal in US....

I was looking in to buying the cheaper Moto E398 but can't seem to find a US version of the phone with GSM 850 instead of 900. Can anyone tell me how good the coverage is on the Cingular network, or GSM at all for that matter without the 850 frequency??? Is it work buying a phone without the 850??? Thanks!

Weak initial demand for Rokr, says analyst
Other Motorola products remain strong
By Mike Dano
Oct 5, 2005
Initial shipments of Motorola Inc.'s long-anticipated iTunes-capable phone appear somewhat sluggish, according to a recent analyst report from Piper Jaffray. The firm said its recent store checks show that some locations are recording strong sales of the device, but the majority see only weak demand for the Rokr.
"Our checks indicated mixed to negative reviews of the much-anticipated Rokr phone, with some stores indicating strong early sales, but more indicating disappointment in the product," wrote Piper Jaffray analyst T. Michael Walkley in a note to investors. The firm makes a mar...

Another quick trick for Rokr users

A lot of forums have had a complaint that the rokr doesn't have a quick way of setting it to vibrate or silent...

Well it does have volume keys on the side but this is even quicker

If you hit the volume keyes to the upper left of the screen the volume menu will pop up...

Now just hit a key for the volume you want! (ex. 7 for volume seven, 0 for vibrate, and * for silent.)

Easy trick and nice to know... It's not in the manual but I have played with it enough..

Happy usage!

iTunes without celluar service?

I am considering this phone, but I was wondering if you have the phone but you discontinue your cellular service if iTunes music will still be able to play on the phone. Thanks

A quick fix for slow changes in the interface.

I've notice while I mess with this phone in iTunes on the phone that the songs with pictures that are displayed or album art that the phone itself runs much slower in iTunes... I have a feeling that if you go into preferences in iTunes and uncheck the option of displaying artwork on the phone that it will run faster...

I will check it tonight but at the same time... This is mostly for people who don't care if they can't see album artwork on the phone... But I'm sure it will work..

usb 1.1 = LONG sync times

if you want to use the rokr with itunes, you have to connect the phone via usb. but the rokr only has usb 1.1. reviews from engadget, the wall street journal and other trusted sources state the time to transfer 100 songs (the max itunes will send to an e1) is 45 minutes to an hour! yes, you read that right. what takes about 6 minutes with an ipod shuffle takes at least 8 times longer with a rokr.

i am all for convergence, but in this case i'd say keep your current phone and buy a shuffle, or a nano. gizmodo did some math and figured out that a RAZR + a nano is still smaller than a rokr e1, offers more phone-wise, the same camera-wise and at least 4 times more song storage (with a much faster transfer time).
